Welcome to the Sale

Welcome, fellow cattlemen and cattlewomen. Wow! It’s our 14th sale this year. 2025 was a mind-blowing year for the cattle industry. We “FINALLY” saw you, the cow calf producer, get paid the premium you work so hard for. As we reflect on the great year we all had, we are grateful for the industry we are all a part of. 2026 is poised to be the best year we have seen; prices are already moving upward as we begin the year.

I know you have all heard this about bulls, but this is definitely our best set of bulls we have had. We have large contemporary groups of like-sired bulls, with many groups comprising 10-15+ bulls. We will have 125+ bulls for sale on sale day.

Our cow herd is not pampered; the mature cows are wintered out on high elevation desert in southeastern UT, and are supplemented very little. They have to breed back and work in tough environments to stay in the herd.

This year, we leased our Medicine Man bull to Select Sires, and he is being used heavily in his first year there. Semen is available through Select Sires if you are interested. We are offering 17 of his sons in our sale this year.

The bulls have been PAP tested at 6,300 ft. As always, not all pap testing is equal. If bulls are not papped above 5,000 ft, it’s not a valid test.

We cannot guarantee the bulls will not be injured while at our facility post sale, we highly recommend you purchase livestock insurance. We will have it available sale day.

CATTLEMEN TO CATTLEMEN GUARANTEE

Cattlemen to Cattlemen guarantees the breeding animal for six months after the sale date as a satisfactory breeder. This guarantee does not cover illness, injury, neglect, or death. All animals become the responsibility of the buyer once it leaves the ring. The seller has the right to replace the animal with one of equal value or refund credit minus the salvage value at a future sale. All returned bulls will need a vet’s detailed written diagnosis of cause to be a non-breeder.

LIABILITY

Neither Lyman Livestock, sale management, seller or Producers Livestock Auction is responsible for sale day accidents. Announcements made on sale day will take precedence over printed material in the sale catalog.

FEEDING AND DELIVERY

Lyman Livestock will keep your bull and deliver him to your ranch. Please see the delivery map on page 4. Any customers purchasing 3 or more bulls will be delivered free of charge. However we cannot be responsible for injuries that happen after sale day. We will start delivering the bulls the first week of April.

PAP TESTING

PAP scores are provided to indicate differences between bulls and how they may work at high elevations. PAP tested above 6,300 feet. See page 2 for more information.

ABOUT THE BULLS

All bulls were weaned on August 31, 2025. Lyman Livestock will be retaining 1/3 semen interest in all bulls sold. Buyer owns 100% possession and salvage value. We reserve the right to collect any bull at our expense and the buyer’s convenience.

Details for PAP Testing and Scoring of Cattle PAP Tested at 6,300’

30-35 Excellent and Highly Reliable Score

36-40

Excellent for animals older than 12 months. For a younger animals the score is fairly reliable, but testing is suggested.

42 Reliable score in all animals older than 12 months. It is recommended that younger cattle score less than 42 depending on test altitude.

43-46

47-49

Acceptable score for animals older than 12 months. Younger animals should be retested.

Acceptable score for animals older than 16 months that have been at high elevations for an extended period. These animals should be considered at some risk. Testing altitude and animal’s location should be considered.

>50 Animals in this range are considered at high risk for themselves and their offspring. Many animals scoring in this range have died of high-altitude disease.

***Note These figures are based on cattle 12 months of age and older and tested at or above 6,300 ft. If an animal does not meet these criteria, adjustments must be noted.

Accuracy of measuring PAP to predict pulmonary hypertension at various altitudes.

Animals must be exposed to the altitude above 5,000 ft for a minimum of 4-6 weeks.

Lyman Livestock is a fifth generation ranching operation based out of Central Utah. The ranch is run by three brothers Eric, Kevin, Mike, along with their parents, Keith and Glenda, and our kids. Everyone pitches in with the work, our kids are taught to work at a young age and are very capable of all ranching activities. Our wives are our unsung troopers, from meals delivered, to feeding when no one is around, to clerical work, and bull sale info.

While our ranch is nearing 100 plus years in the cattle industry, it has been a meticulous amount of dedication that our parents Keith and Glenda have put into expanding the ranch to what it is today. Our father has never believed in money, he has always believed in dirt and has worked his hole life to put this ranch together along with his boys. In 1998, we began raising Simmental genetics and have never stopped trying to improve our customers and our own cow herds. Sim influenced genetics flat pay you more money. It been proven what heterosis does in a cowherd. As we push forward in this new cattle age, we will continue to keep our customers wants and needs at the for front of our seedstock operation.

25 years in the seedstock industry raising and selling bulls, the life lessons these cattle have taught us are priceless. We annually offer 100 yearling pap tested bulls in Lyman Livestock’s Cattlemen to Cattlemen bull sale the last Saturday in February at Producer’s livestock sale barn in Salina Ut. Where we offer the best in SimAngus, Simmental and Angus genetics for our customers cowherds.

The ranch consists of three main properties where we use a three area rotation for the cows. The summer ranch is located between Montpelier Idaho & Cokeville Wyoming. We typically summer 450 pair there from late May to early November.

From there the cows are loaded on trucks and either took to late fall pasture or hauled to Monticello, UT, where we winter from December till April. We winter out in large 1,000 acre plus high, 6,500 ft, desert pastures where cows calve unassisted and are supplemented very little if any hay.

As we move from winter to spring the cows are hauled from Monticello to Yuba reservoir area in central Utah. We put the cows on lush green spring grasses to help get the bred back in April and May.

A few things to know about our cattle herd. We have been PAP testing for close to 20 years. We believe in high altitude genetics and search and use only bulls that can produce suitable pap scores on their offspring. We run our registered stock like a commercial operation no pampering the cows are wintered in tough conditions and must breed back with minimal supplemented feed. We operate around 600-700 head of momma cows. 400 registered Simmentals, 100 registered Angus and 150 commercial cows.

Welcome to the 2026 Lyman Livestock Annual Bull Sale. The Lyman’s work very hard at producing the best product they can for their commercial customers. Their commitment to improving the genetics of their herd to make bulls that fit their customers’ environment is second to none. Every mating and Herd Bull purchase keeps in mind how the progeny is going to work in their western environment. This is something you don’t always see in a seedstock producer. Many are focused on using the most popular AI sires with the biggest set of EPDs they can get without thinking about how their progeny are going to fit in their customers environment. The Lyman’s make every breeding decision with you, the customer, in mind. It is people with this kind of philosophy that Allied Genetic Resources works with.

Some examples of their commitment to making cattle that work in their customers environment is PAP testing. Lyman Livestock has been committed to producing cattle that thrive at high elevations. They have been PAP testing for over a decade now and they have developed a herd that thrives at high elevations. Just look at the PAP scores on this set of bulls, very few are not suitable for high elevations. The Lyman’s also make their cows work on the range just like their commercial customers. You do not see the feed truck pulling away from a big silage pile to feed the cows most of the year like a lot of seedstock operations. The mature cow herd is out wintering and calving in the desert in southern Utah as we speak. If the cows can’t make it on their own and raise a calf they do not live here. These examples are what make this program so unique compared to traditional seedstock producers. These cattle flat work in our Western environment and if they can work here, they can work where feed is more abundant as well.
