Doug and Lucretia Gibbs Bradley, Kennedy, Sadler and Swayze Gibbs
Sam, Brook and Mazie Young
First off, we would like to thank each and every one of y’all for helping us achieve our 20th Annual Sale. It’s truly an exciting time to be in the cattle industry. We have experienced record prices the past couple of years with no slowing down in sight. The importance of genetics is at the forefront of the industry, with costs continuing to rise as well. Efficiency is always the answer and something we all need to continue to improve on.
We are extremely excited about this year’s sale offering. We feel we have a bull for everyone’s goals and budgets. We are offering about ten more bulls in this year’s sale. With the ample amount of rain from spring and early summer and genetics that work, we were able to see record weights for us on less feed. We feel these bulls and females are developed properly to ensure longevity and are built to go to work for you.
Please make plans to be with us on November 7th and November 8th. Friday, we have a jam-packed day of viewing cattle, fellowship with lunch, and an educational producer meeting with dinner. Saturday will be sale day, and we plan to start at 11 A.M. We will have the loadout crew ready to serve you at any point throughout the sale. If you are unable to attend, please feel free to come by anytime to view the cattle. Please give us a call anytime to answer questions! We look forward to seeing y’all soon!
Thanks,
The Gibbs Farms Crew
20 YEARS Strong
Even-Handed Breeding
In today’s industry, with record prices and America’s cow herd at an all-time low, it is easy to get caught up with the dollars of the feed industry in mind, but forget about your cows at home. What we mean by that is, we feel it is important to keep the cow first. Yes, it is wise to maximize gains and carcass quality, but not at the expense of your cows heading down a direction that leads to failure through hard doing cattle. It is just as important now as ever to breed for balance in cattle traits through selective matings for improvement and combining hybrid vigor to help you achieve your goals quickly.
Even-handed breeding is a deliberate selection of cattle to breed to produce a balanced set of traits, and avoiding the extremes in any single trait. We all know single trait selection can lead to holes in other places. For example, if we are too terminal in our matings, referring to growth and carcass, often, we have females that require too much feed to get through the winter, and they have a harder time breeding back. On the contrary, a herd that is only selected through maternal traits often leads to money left on the table in terms of gain and pounds harvested on the rail.
We know that we have quite a few customers who need a bull to do it all and be balanced. We strive to produce a majority of our bulls this way. Look for the G+ bulls throughout the catalog. These bulls are the ones that are the most balanced, that can keep birthweights in check but still maximize growth and carcass traits. Even-handed breeding ensures that no single trait is overemphasized, producing cattle that are versatile and well-suited to diverse production systems. This balance reduces risk associated with environmental limitations or market shifts. Healthier, more adaptable cattle require fewer inputs.
We also know we have customers looking for more maternal lines and/or terminal lines. It is extremely important to know your goals and the type of cattle it takes to achieve them. If you are looking to add more performance and growth to a cow herd that you feel needs it, look for the ATM bulls. These bulls can complement a maternal herd and help achieve more pounds and gain. If you are looking for more maternal lines to produce superior females, then look for the G+ or ACE bulls to help produce the goal.
The biggest way to ensure success in the cattle business is to know your cows and have a plan and a direction. Buy the bull to complement your cows. We feel it is important not to get caught up in the latest trend and to breed good functional cattle that fit your environment. Our job as a seedstock breeder is to offer several options to meet all of our customers’ needs. Please reach out to us, and allow us to help you achieve your goals. No operation is too big or too small, and our success strictly depends on our customers.

A Note From The Sale Manager
Welcome, cattlemen, to the 20th Annual Gibbs Farms Bull & Replacement Female Sale. 20 years of dedication and determination have placed Gibbs as one of the premier trusted sources for Simmental & SimAngus cattle, which the beef industry turns to. Study the offering closely, and you will see high-impact genetics that will add genetic advancement and enhance profitability for cattlemen.
The Gibbs program, from a genetic standpoint, are bred to supply optimum performance traits for southeastern cattlemen. Ample calving ease, explosive growth, and a strong tandem of both maternal and terminal traits are the trademarks of the Gibbs program. The cowherd is run just like the majority of their commercial customers, with limited supplementation, limited labor, and oversight. Accurate and rigorous performance and genomic testing also serve as one of the cornerstone pieces that the Gibbs program has invested heavily in. Accurate weights, close attention to sizeable contemporary groups and generations of genomic testing are what buyers have come to expect when purchasing Gibbs genetics. The program strives not only to be your bull providers but a trusted source of service and partnership in the beef business.
This year’s offering is littered with exciting new genetics alongside sizeable sire groups of proven sires. The bulls are headlined by two new exciting purebred bulls raised by Gibbs in Culmination and Signature. Going through the bulls, one cannot go without noticing a strong and consistent sire group of Bedrocks. The females are once again high-quality and will make a huge impact on the programs they head to.
We hope you can join us on the second Saturday in November for one of the premier marketing events of the year. Come enjoy great fellowship and cattle with the Gibbs family. If we can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Marty Ropp, Corey Wilkins and Jared Murnin

This is a bull that can add frame, eye appeal, and carcass traits. This bull is a “looker’” and has a striking appearance with a sleek design and commanding presence, making him highly attractive in the show ring and in the field. He is not just a terminal bull as he boast a CE epd and BW epd that is borderline acceptable for heifer use. This bull can sell semen!
• Here is another purebred bull that is going to add frame, growth, and carcass traits. Coming from the HANOI cow family, and embryo purchased from Clear Spring Cattle Company in MN. This bull’s dam is sired by Essential (Arguably the best purebred we have ever produced.) Hanoi is also a full sister to CLRS Homeland, which is currently selling semen at ABS. He has a royal pedigree of some of the breed’s greats.

Gibbs Farms Bull Development
Gibbs Farms Bulls are grazed on pastures containing KY-31 Fescue and volunteer summer grasses like common Bermuda, crabgrass, and clover very similar to the environment most of them will encounter when they go to work of the environment most southeastern cattlemen operate in. They remain in the large pasture environment from the time they are weaned right up until sale time, never spending anytime in a dry lot environment.
Yes, we supplement the bulls on a high roughage, properly balanced bull developer ration consisting of soyhull pellets, peanut by products pellets, cotton by products, ground hay, a special mineral package and enough extruded cottonseed meal to balance their protein needs. We never use high starch cereal grains in our breeding cattle developer rations.
Placing our breeding stock in settings which will replicate most commercial environments operate in, results in bulls who will absolutely meet your needs. We want customers to be able to recognize their bulls in coming months after the sale.
• Lots 44 and 45. These two bulls are as good as you can make one. They are maternal brothers to last year’s $55,000 high-selling bull GIBBS BLAZER 3L02. They are some of the most powerful bulls in the sale and physically rise to the top. 4M07 was the number 1 actual yearling weight bull here, with his brother right there with him. CARCASS SELECTION Matters
We have been feeding and receiving carcass records out of our own cattle for over 20 years. Focusing on producing cattle who receives premiums on the rail is a large goal of Gibbs Farms.
• This bull is the natural calf to the 9047G donor. He is one of the youngest bulls in the sale, but he does not appear that way. He is a bull that offers as much balance in his genetic prediction as any high percentage Simmental bull in the sale. He’s a larger-framed bull that can quickly move your program in the right direction.
• Lot 59 is a bull that has as much body and mass as any bull we have ever produced. His spring of rib and overall rib capacity is second to none. His data and EPD profile is impeccable as well. He is a true spread bull with top 15% CE WW and YW with a top 1% MARB API and TI. We feel as if this bull will be acceptable on heifers for most and still sire calves that will bring pounds to the table. With this bull’s superior phenotype and EPD profile, we feel as if he could really be popular. His young donor dam was the first ever heifer we have ever flushed. She was an absolute standout. She just calved with her first calf and her udder is perfect.

• This is another heifer bull option that excels in stayablilty. This bull will help make your cows last longer and ensure profitability. The number one cost to commercial buyers is replacement heifers. He as well as his other brothers, are genetic standouts.
GIBBS 4399M HAGGARD
• This bull will be many of y’alls favorites in November. This is the brother who exhibits the most power, bone, and muscle out of the flush. We expect this bull to sire calves that have more terminal value and sire an impressive set of feeder calves. The daughters should be phenomenal as well. He is as docile as you can make one and excels in hair shedding ability, foot quality, and body and mass.
“Cullens Cattle Co. was established in 1993 as a family owned commercial cow-calf and Registered Simmental operation. Gibbs Farm genetics have greatly improved our cattle both genetically and phenotypically. The bulls we have purchased from Gibbs Farm have been docile, fertile, easy calving, easy keepers that have held their body condition through the breeding seasons. Our heifers purchased from Gibbs Spring Sale have recently calved. They are great mothers with good udders and their calves are exceptional.
Our sincere thanks goes to the Gibbs family for their support and continuous dedication improving the Simmental and SimAngus breed.”

Consistency and quality are what we have seen from the Bedrock-sired cattle. He simply does not sire any throwaways. The cattle excel in terms of calving ease and growth, and his genetic profile continues to rise after every calf crop recorded. We feel he will be one of the great SimAngus bulls for commercial use in the years to come. Maternally, we feel he will enhance traits while not sacrificing any growth and terminal premiums.

“Triple D farms is a family owned farm, we have been buying genetics from the Gibbs family for over the past ten years. We are a cow-calf operation, who have recently started to retain ownership of our calves. In Addition to sending our steers and some heifers to feed yards, we also keep and develop our heifers for replacements for our herd. Throughout the years we feel like Gibbs Farms has excelled in offering a balance of maternal and carcass genetics. This year our cattle that was sent to the feed yard averaged 129.26 in grid premiums, and were 95.65% choice or better. We value and appreciate our relationship with the Gibbs family farms. ”

Calving ease oriented cattle that do not sacrifice growth and terminal traits are what you will find in the Kingpin bulls. The cattle absolutely will work in the south, being great-haired, easy-fleshing, and great for docility. Genetically, the bulls offer ample calving ease, explosive growth, and top-tier profit indexes.
• Kingpin is quickly leaving his mark on our herd for consistently giving us progeny that perform on fescue. We feel lot 98 is the best Kingpin son we have ever raised. He is massive in his rib shape and offers more muscle than most as well. He is a bull that will be acceptable on heifers, but still boasts a WW and YW EPD in the top 15%. This bull will make your money back not only on live calves on the ground but also on payday when you sell them by the pound.
• Haymaker was the $27,000 high-selling bull in our 2023 sale, and his first set of calves did not disappoint. Much like their sire, physically, they are impressive. Lot 105 is the natural calf out of the 1125J donor and is a little younger, but we believe he is a genetic outlier. All of the Haymaker progeny are consistent, no-hole type of cattle.
Haymaker has left us with an awesome set of hersires to market in 2025. The sire groups represent good cattle who are phenotypic superstars. Extra body, added mass, and striking balance are represented in every one of his sons. Haymaker is just the cattlemen’s kind and will be bulls you will want to highlight in your sale catalog. We promise you will like them come sale day.

FRAME SCORE
What is the RIGHT ANSWER?
GIBBS 4157M TOP GUN
186
GIBBS 4265M TOP GUN
187
Everyone seems to have a strong opinion one way or the other in what the optimal frame size of a bull should be. First, any seedstock producer would agree frame scores is the most difficult and inaccurate data we collect annually. Cattle not standing perfectly in the chute among other challenges will greatly compromise the accuracy of frame size. Make no mistake, we value growth as much as anyone but in our eye’s growth traits are measured by the scale not by height. Likewise, the correlation between frame size and growth is not as highly correlated as one might suspect.
Ultimately, research shows cattle who fall in the middle in regards to mature frame size are the most productive in terms of weaning off the highest percentage of calf versus their body weight. We are not attempting to sway customers one way or the other we have bulls in the offering who fall in a wide array of frame size. However, placing a high selection pressure on frame size as it relates to growth might not be the best answers for customers.

All other injuries such as broke penis, acts of God, and situations related to management that are beyond our control, will not be covered. A veterinary inspection/ report is required for warranty claims.
Genetic Conditions… The knowledge and testing technology for all types of genetic conditions is almost changing daily. What we knew to be policy yesterday may be obsolete today. Our policy at Gibbs Farms is to fully follow and abide by any and all testing and reporting policy pertaining to genetic conditions as recommended by the American Simmental Association. We further state that our personal policy is to not market any animals known to be carriers or suspected of being carriers of any genetic conditions classified by the ASA as lethal and/ or high occurrence. On any animals known to be carriers of other nonlethal genetic conditions that the ASA recommends testing, we will test and provide results on any animals marketed. For full disclosure and explanation of all genetic conditions monitored by the ASA, please refer to the TraitTrac shown on their individual pedigree on the ASA website.
We understand the investment you make in your bulls can be significant; we will make every effort to take care of you if something goes awry. All bulls purchased sight unseen or online carry a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

ASA QUICK REFERENCE TO EPDS, INDEXES AND $VALUES
EXPECTED PROGENY DIFFERENCES (EPDS): EPDs are the most accurate and effective tool available for comparing genetic levels. In using EPDs, the difference between two sires’ EPDs represents the unit difference expected in the performance of their progeny. For example, if sires A and B have EPDs of +10 and -5, a 15-unit difference would be expected in their progeny (moving from -5 to +10 yields 15 units). Key to using EPDs is knowing in what units they are expressed. For example, if the above case referred to weaning weight EPDs, sire A would be expected to sire 15 pounds more weaning weight than sire B. If calving ease was the trait, sire A would be expected to sire 15 percent more unassisted births in first-calf heifers; in other words, if sire B sired 30 assists in a group of 100 heifers, we would expect sire A to require 15 assists. A percentile-ranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s EPDs rank him relative to other bulls in the breed. For more detailed information about EPDs and $ indexes, visit www.simmental.org.
Listed below are the units in which ASA EPDs are expressed:
ALL-PURPOSE INDEX (API): Dollars per cow exposed under an all-purpose-sire scenario.
BACK FAT (BF): Inches of carcass backfat at 475 days.
BIRTH WEIGHT (BW): Pounds of birth weight.
CALVING EASE (CE): Percent of unassisted births when used on heifers.
CARCASS WEIGHT (CW): Pounds of carcass weight at 475 days.
DOCILITY (DOC): Percent of offspring receiving a disposition score of 1 (docile).
MATERNAL CALVING EASE (MCE): Percent of unassisted births in first-calving daughters.
MILK (MLK): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk.
MARBLING (MARB): Carcass marbling score at 475 days.
MATERNAL WEANING WEIGHT (MWW): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk and growth.
RIBEYE AREA (REA): Square inches of carcass ribeye at 475 days.
TERMINAL INDEX (TI): Dollars per cow exposed under a terminal-sire scenario.
WEANING WEIGHT (WW): Pounds of weaning weight.
YEARLING WEIGHT (YW): Pounds of yearling weight.
YIELD GRADE (YG): Carcass yield grade score at 475 days.
$ INDEXES: Though EPDs allow for the comparison of genetic levels for many economically important traits, they only provide pieces of the economic puzzle. This is where $ indexes come in. Through well-conceived, rigorous mathematical computation, $ indexes blend EPDs and economics to estimate an animal’s overall impact on integrated commercial production. The same technology that led to the dramatic progress in swine, poultry and dairy genetics over the last several decades was used to develop the following $ indexes:
ALL-PURPOSE INDEX (API): Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both Angus first-calf heifers and mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size retained and the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and sold grade and yield.
TERMINAL INDEX (TI): Evaluates sires for use on mature Angus cows with all offspring put on feed and sold grade and yield. For more detailed information about EPDs and $indexes, visit: www.simmental.org

• We thought it was fitting to sell the best Bedrock daughter we had to offer, with this being Bedrock’s first calves to sell here. She is a full sister to lots 69 and 70. She is a maternal sister to last year’s sale highlight, GIBBS HIGHWAYMAN 3130L. This is one of the ones that hurts to let go. Corey has free rein to pick out 3 of our very best opens every year, and it’s easy to see why this one was selected. Here is a female who can quickly put your program on the map. You can buy a bull and move your whole herd in the right direction, but if you purchase a donor female too, you immediately have what we have. We feel this heifer is an excellent donor candidate.

• The full sister to the Lot 1, 2, and 3 bull will be easy to find on sale day. She is possibly the best genetic piece in the sale, a complete outcross to many popular bloodlines. She gives you a tremendous amount of mating flexibility, as well being a ¾ blood. You can mate her to SimAngus to make SimAngus, and you can mate her to Purebreds to make purebreds. This heifer is backed by the JC MAYHAYLEY donor that goes back to the TJ 8T cow. Great cows make great bulls, and we feel confident that this is a great one. Physically, she is flawless and is loaded with depth of body and the cow power all cattlemen love. On paper she is a no-holes type of female that exhibits balance and breed leading milk, maternal weaning weight, stayability, marbling, and indexes.

• This is one powerful blazed faced female. She is the only Screenshot female we are offering this year. Her dam is a highly productive Essential female in our herd that was scored to be one of the best. It is hard to make a truly great female, let alone a baldy. This is a female that offers breed-leading growth. Rarely do you see cattle cross the 110 weaning weight EPD. She is puppy dog gentle and as slick-haired as they come. Clint Berry Superior Livestock
“Over the last several years, I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to market cattle sired by Gibbs Farms SimAngus bulls for multiple, long time Gibbs bull customers, located in the heart of the South. These cattle consistently compete for the top of the market, as their reputation with our buyers have solidified the value in feedlot performance and carcass merit on the rail. Gibbs Farms genetics work both in the pasture and beyond.”
We are extremely thankful for our guys! We couldn’t do it without them.
Left to right: Rob Harms- Head honcho, Mr. Can do it all. Austin Wright- Head Mechanic, Mr. Fit it. Zach KribsHead of Nutritional Management, Mr. Care Taker. Daulton Spruill- Head of Strategic Hauling, Mr. I’ll get it there. Ryan Mitchell- Head of Land Management, Mr. Keeping things Looking Right.

SCHOOLEY/EOR MAINSTAY M06
Mainstay SEMEN PACKAGES
Mainstay was the high-selling from Schooley Cattle Company and English Oaks Ranch, purchased by us and River Creek Farms in Kansas. Mainstay displays to be a curve-bending bull that excels in performance, phenotype, and carcass merit – all wrapped up in a blazed face package. We have never marketed any semen to him until now. We believe he is a bull that is a must-use in 2025, and this will be the ONLY chance to purchase semen on this young stud in 2025!
