Head’s Note Dear Parents With our Head away at the Prep School Heads’ Conference this week, I have been entrusted with the newsletter! It has certainly given me plenty to write about, as school seems to have been even busier than usual. Our assembly this week started with a question: What is the difference between happiness and joy? We talked about how happiness is often linked to what is happening around us. Something goes well, we have good news or there is something exciting to look forward to. Joy is perhaps a little harder to define. It tends to run deeper and can often be found in our relationships, in being grateful for what we have and in those small, everyday moments that are easily missed. Mrs Johnson challenged the children to look out for some of those moments during the week – helping a friend, doing something kind without being asked, finally mastering something they had found difficult, or simply noticing the beautiful grounds we are lucky enough to enjoy every day. I hope they have found plenty. There has certainly been plenty to enjoy this week. We have welcomed parents into school for our Scholarship Information Evening, Community Choir and Reception Topic Exploration session. Year 1 have been out to a local farm, Year 2 have ventured to Brownsea Island, and Years 3 and 4 have enjoyed workshops with the Dorset and Wiltshire Deaf Association. Add to that a full programme of matches and it is fair to say there has rarely been a quiet moment! I want to wish all of our pupils sitting the grammar school tests this Saturday the very best of luck. You have worked hard in preparation; go in, do your best and be proud of yourselves. Next Friday is our Harvest Festival and we will once again be supporting Corfe Mullen Food Bank. Any donations are hugely appreciated, although they are currently particularly short of tinned fruit, tinned meals such as ravioli, meatballs and hotdogs, as well as pasta and pasta sauces. It has been a busy week, but a very happy one – or perhaps, after this week’s assembly, I should say a joyful one! Have a lovely weekend. Best wishes Paul Dunsford Acting Deputy Head

Head’s Awards are given out every Friday morning in assembly to children nominated by their class teacher or form tutor. The reasons for these are many and varied, including outstanding effort, overcoming difficulty, or helping a friend in need. A huge congratulations for their efforts goes to these children.

Join us for Community Choir (Tuesday) and Parent Prayer Groups (Wednesday), held every week in Knoll House. Little Groovers Free Dance Class every Wednesday for children up to 4 years old, run by our very own Dani Tomblin. Book here. We look forward to welcoming you all to our Harvest Festival and annual cake sale in aid of Macmillan on 2nd October. Cakes will be baked by our talented Catering Team.

A Week In Pictures

Year 1 trip to Travellers Rest Farm Our Year 1s had an exciting visit to Travellers Rest Farm! As part of our Food and Farming topic, pupils enjoyed discovering more about local crops, learning how farms work and finding out where some of our food comes from. One of the absolute highlights was meeting Daisy the sheep and her friends — and, of course, getting the chance to feed them some toast!

SENIOR FOOTBALL

Our 1st XI team took part in the Bryanston Football Festival this afternoon! It was a fantastic afternoon of sportsmanship, teamwork and some excellent football from all the teams involved. It was wonderful to see our boys back in action and embracing the new season with such enthusiasm!
