maker brands in the history of cars. Of course, none of this would be possible without the great brands that send awesome stuff to review.

As always, the magazine is piled through with great content mostly related to the prancing horse but we are more than confident each page will serve to be great entertainment in some form or another. SO, expect a rather delicious helping of Ferrari’s in this issue.

We also hope to see F1 start this month and to celebrate we have thrown is some F1 cars as well for good measure. It looks like Ferrari is returning to Le Mans let's hope their F1 tenure is not in jeopardy. They have just completed over 1000 Race Starts they can’t stop now.

The insanity continues in 2021 with some mad models being released by brands and boy are we in for an exciting ride.

But with the advent of almost a proper F1 season, and we decided to throw a little limelight towards those models. But we didn't neglect the others. Its as full of tasty models as it has always been. And we ain't stopping.

Ferrari 456 GT

The F1 Season in the Year That Shall Not be Named wasn't the greatest in the history of racing, but many venues, teams and drivers powered through. The Biritsh GP was one of those venues that managed to have the races in August and Esteban started the race at ninth and finished up in sixth place.

The Renault RS 2.0 was designed by the Renault F1 Team for the 2020 season. It made its debut at the Austrian GP and went on to compete in most of the races and is ranked 5th. With Renault team rebranding, this model will be known as the Alpine A521 for the 2021 season.

Solido presents the model in the British Grand Prix livery. A must-have for any F1 race fan.

The discontinuation of the Ferrari 412 production in 1989 pushed the Italian brand to think about a new 4-seat coupé. It would eventually be done and in the most beautiful way, with the magnificent 456 GT presented in 1992. For sports car aficionados, it was love at first sight.

Pininfarina produced here one of its most beautiful drawings with a coupé combining refinement and sportiness. Efficiency was obviously not forgotten with a retractable fin and advanced aerodynamics. However, what made this perfect Ferrari was within its majestic V12 engine. The 48 valve block, located at the front, can push 442 horsepower with a roaring engine that would give anyone chills.

Subaru Impreza 3 WRC 2008

When the impressive Impreza went from a sedan to a hatchback in 2007, Prodrive autmoatically saw a chance to compete with the Ford Focus and Citreons. The new Impreza 3 being shorter, and downright more agile.

Pettar Solberg went to compete in this new model and saw a podium finish in the Acropolis Rally. Otto Mobile presents this model in stunning detail and craftsmanship. Sure to add flair to any Rally fans line up.

1947 Ford COE

Before AMG became part of the Mercedes-Benz family, it was an independent tuner house that was already legendary for building bonkers cars. That bonkerness continued till about the early 90s.

The 300CE 6.0 AMG was a unique model in an already impressive portfolio. The massive V8 churned out 375bhp and 400lb ft did the 100 in five seconds flat and with just 12 being built, was highly sought after. Schuco gives you the chance to own one in scale, with only 500 units in each color. You should hurry and get your order placed on this super coupe.

Cabover trucks had their heyday in the 40s and 50s but with the rise of safety standards and regulations were phased out of most automakers stables.

The 1947 Ford COE has become something of a collectors item as well as a favourite of builder across the world for its unique look and charm. Jada Toys does another iteration of this model in glossy black and copper accents, and the bed is extend-able. The vintage logo on the doors are just right without being too flashy

Mercedes Benz E-Class All Terrain

Mercedes Benz wagons are some of the most iconic vehicles around. Built to haul the family and a host of luggage around in luxury on holidays or provide the feel of an SUV for those who don’t like SUVs.

Most of the Mercedes Wagons 1:64 that exist in the wild tend to be the 80s and 90s versions,that by now are a little played out. Majorette changes the game by dropping a 2020 version into their premium range with opening parts!

The E-Class ‘go almost any where’ wagon is still in its prototype stage and is likely to have some changes when its finally released later this year.

The Evos had a long and storied career in the Mitsubishi lineup. From its first intro in 1992 to its final hurrah in 2016.

This is the 1oth iteration offered in 2007 was the last. MSZ offers a few models in multiple scales, both road and race livery, and features opening doors and pull back action.. These are great introductory models for collectors to get their young children started on the path of being collectors themselves. One of the great things is that while they are bangable around, they are actually quite good enough to share shelf space with other models.

Honda City Turbo II

This interesting vehicle, with its foldable scooter had quite the character. Designed by Hirotoshi Honda, the son of the founder, this was one of the first non-Kei cars to feature a turbo charger.

The car gained insane popularity and was one of the first “Hot Hatches” to see production. Mark43 presents this in different colour variations and wheel variations. This is the aluminum wheel option black

Top Gun Maverick Legends: Past & Present

Not to be outdone, Matchbox has released a slew of TG:M models via its Sky Busters range, paying homage to the original movie as well as models from the new. This 4-pack assortment contains two F-14 Tomcats from the 1986 movie as well as Lt. Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw's F/A 18 Super Hornet and the next-gen Darkstar fighter. All these models, and more are available as singles. These were released in 2020 with the movie but since the release of the film has been delayed till July 2021, you will have to make do with aerial battle scenes in the living room.

Gumman F-14 Tomcat® Top Gun (1986)

The seminal manly movie Top Gun released in 1986 and immediately saw an uptick (well about 500%!) in fresh young men wanting to join the naval air wing of the United States. It also shot Tom Cruise to stratospheric heights. The air combat sequences were highly praised and the movie has since become a classic for any 80's nostalgia junkie.

With the follow up movie, Top Gun: Maverick, set to arrive in July Hot Wheels has released Lt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell's F-14 in its premium range. With a display stand, this model is sure to be a hit with those who love the 80's, big action movie buffs and introduce a whole generation to "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin.

Top Gun: Maverick

Corgi flies out with its own TG:M models with a twin pack celebrating the past and the present in one go. It features Mavericks Tomcat and Roosters Hornet. Seems this set is marketed mostly to a US audience, with it not being listed in the Corgi UK website. Also available is another twin pack with Maverick's F/A-18 Hornet and P-51D Mustang.

Porsche 934.5 #44 1977 IMSA Mid-Ohio John Sisk Racing

Top Speed releases this lovely specimen of an European sports car that took part in a lot of American races against both European and home grown race machines.

This particular Porsche 934.5 was sponsored by Bosch and driven by two American drivers, Doc Bundy and Roy Woods, in the IMSA Mid Ohio 3 hours and finished 8th in the race after starting it at 18 on the grid. Good addition to any race, vintage Porsche fan's collection.

The love drivers and fans have for the Toyota LandCruiser has grown (along with price and options) over the years. Since it's debut in 1951, its been the longest production SUV behind the Chevy Suburban. It was also one of the first off-road vehicles to feel like a road going vehicle.

This is the 1975 model. And only in Japan did the model number change from FJ55 to FJ56. TLV-104c is passenger vehicle while LV-193a is a riot police liveried model.

MATCHBOX - MOVING PARTS

SCALE 1/64

Love the grille paint, and the silver trim detail, headlights look good, and since this a ‘Moving Parts’ model the rear door opens. Curiously though under the car it has been tagged Land Rover Evoque SE whereas all the badging on the car say, ‘Range Rover’. Is this a Matchbox ‘error’?

RANGE ROVER AUDI R8

Fairly infamous until MARVEL’s Tony Stark and AUDI’s brilliant tie up the R8 is actually an astonishing car both in performance and looks. It’s plain yet maintains a menacing character. It’s fast and super agile yet unassuming in the looks department especially compared to the likes of Lamborghini or even HONDA with its DARTH CIVIC.

The fastback design is like Marmite, either you love it or hate it. But the way those large air ducts at the front and back squeeze the lights into a narrow frown looks like this car is hunting you down which ever side you look at it from.

This is the Queen of England’s ride and of course the ride of choice by most of the Royal Family and honestly its unsurprising as to see why. The Newer Range Rovers in any scale is gorgeous. They have gone through a design epiphany and ended up with a nice lux looking SUV.

A lot of effort has gone into making these Evoque’s look as luxurious as possible right down to the paint. Why would Matchbox go through the lengths? It seems the competition is demanding better quality from mainliners. This absolutely sparkles with its Black ‘Night Sky’ base and silver dust mix under the light. Smooth. like there are several coats.

looking really good and matchbox wheel designs are much cooler than Tomica for example. Honestly if I was to choose between this and a Tomica version, for realism this wins the chips, hand down and better priced.

It does seem the world cannot get rid of its appetite for Porsche car models whether real or scale. From purist’s originals to tuners, modifiers and restorers Porsche is a sports car that is known for its versatility and such a strong character that whatever is done to

Sadly, this hasn’t got the jaw dropping mechanical heart that these guys put in their cars but, the paint is a beautiful shade of Lemon Yellow with a Spectrafrost glossy type paint finish and painted leather hood straps to complete the ensemble. The heavy diecast body sits on a set of Real Rider 8spoke wheels.

Model collecting is not a cheap hobby at all, especially when you have expensive tastes like RWB’s in 1/43 scale that look gorgeous. Adding this to the collection was pure joy and you can see why.

MOTUL

1/43 is a great scale for those with space issues but would still like to look at the car details without going cross-eyed and easier to appreciate at a distance while it sits on a shelf.

This new MOTUL RWB Porsche 993 from Tarmac Works in 1/43 scale shows just how much Tarmac Works is into car and tuner culture. For me this was a great

choice of RWB to re-create and release.

The duck tail spoiler is an iconic Porsche design that flows well with the extended shape of the body design like the ultrawide wheel arches. Great detail on the lights both front and back, paint job is really striking with the red and white, paint splatter texture and of course the large MOTUL painted on the arch.

RWB 1/43 from TARMACWORKS

The actual car was featured at SEMA in 2018, the wheels that are so well replicated are by SSR and the design was done by a talented designer from Orange County by the name of Crystal Chau. You can check out Crystal’s work at crystalchau.com, if you like nice designs on cars you will love this work. This unique RWB was created specifically as a show car for the oil brand MOTUL.

From the rear it looks every bit of RWB as it should with those extreme wide hips and despite the storm of QC issues that Tarmac Works has suffered in the past, they have delivered in heaps and spades on this RWB and I am certainly recommending that this piece be a part of your RWB collection.

JEEP WRANGLER

From Majorette’s mainline cars they have a nice selection of jeeps that are worthy of some attention and have some good photogenic characteristics especially for off-road dioramas like this. Majorette does a really great and consistent job of sticking to real world vehicles and giving collectors the ability to widen the spectrum of collections not leaving them only to exotics and muscles.

In a way the RUBICON could be described as a muscle vehicle. Not in terms of speed and torque but in terms of its ability to crunch stone and climb mountainous sides, while of course looking good.

There is a lot of room within Majorette’s library of car molds to produce some special editions equivalent to FW’s RLC line specially when they have things like plastic headlights and side mirrors covered.

For example, a nice mix of metallic bronze and black giving the JEEP a two-tone color, followed by a wheel swap and rubber tires, BOOM this would be an epic model that would probably sell out in a few minutes. Maybe I should get on a call and tell them the idea.

FORD RAPTOR offroad MAJORETTE 1

One of the world’s most powerful pickups resides in the Majorette garage and they come in three different shades for you to choose from. Called Raptors for a reason these beasts are unforgiving when on the road bullying smaller cars into barriers and even in small scale that large nose grille looks super imposing.

Unlike the JEEPs the RAPTORS come with opening parts or shall we opening part. In this case the bonnet opens up not reveling much but the ability to stage a roadside break down photo opportunity on your Dream Customs desk diorama.

The other cool thing about Majorette is the steady supply of AIRSTREAM campers.

It comes with Hitch and tow models but since the RAPTOR has a tow hook, you can mix and match.

Finally, down to colors, so far we have seen three shades. One is a classy Matt Black with cyclone wheel rims, another is bright green with black paint splattered like mud on the back. If the HULK got mad and wanted to go on a calm down drive this would perfectly reflect him and his mood. And lastly, for an even brighter statement we have the yellow and black RAPTOR which look like they sit on the reverse version of the cyclone wheels.

One of the most legendary, if not downright mythological race cars comes in delightful 1:87 scale from Schuco Modelle.

The Mercedes, nicknamed in derision by other drivers, the "Red Pig" because of its ungainly looks, had one of the shortest, yet flashiest, stories of any race car in history.

Before Aufrecht, Melcher, Grossassbach became a household name and a part of Mercedes, they made fast cars. And they took an damaged Mercedes 300 SEL and stuck a tuned 6.8L engine in the bay, fitted it with some rollover bars, but left the wood panel dash and the rear seats (!?) intact.

During a test of the vehicle after a race in Hockenheim, ended in disaster. The driver, Helmut Kelleners is said to have driven into pit and handed the keys, stating that "these aren't needed anymore". The car was carefully put together again for the impeding race an SpaFrancorchamps in Belgium. This they came in second over all.

After that it took on the race at the 24h Paul Ricard in France. Though not finishing the race due to faulty differential, they would look at other races in the coming years.

But that was not to be. The FIA regulations changed that year and the Red Pig drove off into legend and myth.

Ha, that's not the end of that story. The cars was handed over to Matra to test aircraft landing gear on behalf of the French air-force. They needed a car that could do 200kmph within a 1km distance and carry measuring instruments.

The mad lads at AMG made it longer by 75cm, tuned the engine to a massive 428hp and increased the weight to 2400kg before handing it over.

Schuco Modelle presents this in their Edition 1:87. We want the 1:64, the 1:18, the 1:12 and quite possibly the 1:1 too!!

The Period Correct Sadness

Once again, another premium Hot Wheels collaboration “drop” has come and gone. Many, if not almost all of us, were left empty handed at 12:00:30pm that unfortunate Saturday.

I’m probably going to come off whiny and upset that I missed out on those sweet Period Correct Lancia 037 and Ford RS200 special editions, but in reality I shouldn’t be spending $50 on Hot Wheels cars anyway. The real disappointment is that Hot Wheels missed yet another opportunity to print money and make their fans happy at the same time.

Just like the Supreme team transport fiasco a couple years ago, these two Period Correct rally cars were scooped up in mere seconds. Some lucky and legit collectors were able to score a set, but most of these likely wound up on a scalper’s eBay page thanks to bots.

I understand that Hot Wheels needed to keep these cars to limited numbers, but why not double the production run and have them all sell out in a minute instead of a few seconds?

If you were able to get yourself one or both of these cars, congratulations! I do truly mean that, both the Lancia and the Ford looked fantastic and I hope they wind up being treasured pieces in your collections. I hope those who missed out do not give in to that terrible FOMO feeling and feed the scalpers with their crazy high prices. The cheapest one I can find on eBay is already over 150% what you could have paid Period Correct. There are almost a hundred other listings at even higher price points.

The rarest thing you can find in the world of model collectors is a collector who is not interested in Ferrari Models. It’s there but super rare, rarer than a 1956 250 GT Coupe (only 4 built). For the rest of us ranging from mere mortals to super collectors who have more than one AMALGAM on display, Ferrari is a staple. Anything Ferrari will get bought. Ferrari has built such a strong history in motorsport and in the development of precision speed machines that anything owned with the Ferrari badge on it is carried with pride.

The name of this car is self-explanatory as to what type of car this is, but for those who don’t speak fluent Italian ‘PISTA’ simply means ‘track’. This is an attack dog in the Ferrari garage and you can tell this car didn’t come to play by the air-duct lines and the aggressive stance.

Bburago holders of the Ferrari license which is one of the biggest treasures in the scale model car world give us a decent number of cars within a 1/64 to 1/18 spectrum of models. There have been complaints about the lack of new releases but that is a tale for another day right now its all about this beautiful PISTA in 1/24 scale.

The car right round looks gorgeous and impressive. Impressive because when you pick this car up from your local store, go home, open it and look at the bill you will be pleased at the amount of car you get to the price you pay. Bburago has been increasing their attentiveness to detail and its starting to show in ‘literally’ little ways. Even the one non-opening part which is the engine bay has been paid a particular amount of attention too, with ‘faux’ carbon fiber on the engine, the famous FERRARI badging and red trim. Another often ignored section in anything lower than 1/18 is the interior, not that we are saying this is ace’s but again an attempted improvement in detail. STOP stressing you don’t HAVE to buy BBR or similar to say you are a proud Ferrari model owner that’s just the hype. Bburago is licensed its perfectly ok to own Ferrari by them.

It was just a matter of time before Ferrari caved, to the sustainable energy pressure and decided that a drive down electric avenue may not be so bad after all. Formula 1, the most technologically advanced motorsport is definitely heading that way and, pretty soon the rest of the world.

So, over presumably a meatball marinara and a glass of Tuscany wine the new car design team decided to take an F1 car, repackage it into a car that uses the same aerodynamic principles and design of the current F1 car but make it look more like a road car. From the back someone shouts “Stradale!!!” The car is given an F1 moniker ‘SF90’ and the super-rich Tifosi scramble to their cheque books and black cards. Don’t worry, your VISA Debit Card is accepted here and we give you another fantastically priced 1/24 scale Bburago for just a few USD. Our pictures will tell you the rest.

This is truly the gentleman’s Ferrari. If BOND drove the prancing horse this would be it. An un-assuming body shape lacking the overpowering angles and sharp lines of modern-day supercar beasts. This is just clean lines and a body shape that just glides through the Gs.

Our final Bburago 1/24 Ferrari and a great one to end with. Ferrari’s stylish V12 that will sit on your entire shelf of books on Ferrari History or in the walk-through cupboard of Ferrari gear. A great scale and a great attention to detail that will not make you feel too cheap about buying. All the points we look at in a display model is passed. The wheels along with disc bakes and brake calipers are detailed, as is the lens in the lights. The badging right round the

car is clear and visible. The body shape and overall look and feel of the car is fine, it does not feel light or flimsy and Bburago has a reputation of long-lasting paint on the body work.

The purists and the elitists are plentiful but that should not be a reason for you not to own a few Ferrari beauties in your collection. Cheap to own, easy to maintain and looks good anywhere you put them on display you should just order the entire collection from Bburago now. If not, the three we recommend here will make a great start to your Ferrari happiness.

For those of us who have grown up in the 70’s and 80’s with a very English based educational background you would remember vaguely or clearly the works of Roger Hargreaves and his books about a world called Mister Land and his characters named after their dominant trait. This was how parents and kids learned to manage emotions before the internet.

Tarmac Works has a great appreciation for pop culture and has woven quite a bit of it into their releases. From packaging to liveries to even the choice of models there has always been an element of nostalgia. This GT-R is the latest of those odes to pop culture and it looks like I’m going to need quite a few of these.

I love the color and I love the livery design, Tarmac Works has got a livery designer they should keep locked away like the key maker in the Matrix. We’ve seen a lot of brilliant Tarmac Works liveries on cars intended for e-racing and eMotorsports like this particular one done for a Legion of Racers eChampionship event last year and there are more models slated to come over the next few months.

I hope Tarmac Works keeps pushing these collaboration boundaries and getting some really strategic partners together to make some more of these special edition cars. Don’t get me wrong Tarmac Works has a lot coming out in the next few months by way of collaborations I just mean we don’t like the break in between.

TOYOTA CAMRY FOR SALE?

To own something from Amalgam models for most people is pretty much the same as being able to go to the moon on holiday right now. In fact, the ones who can, probably own an Amalgam model or two. Having said that, if I ever win an insane amount of money, this, is what I would probably get.

We’ve been here before; this is the second time we are looking at a steering wheel from Amalgam and as per usual the price is pretty steep. In fact, it has gone up just a bit since the last model we reviewed. This is of course a more current version taken from the 2020 1000GP Tuscan Race car, a one-off edition to celebrate Ferrari’s 1000 race starts in the Grand Prix.

As far as realism goes this is THE closest thing you will get to the real thing. In fact, the only way you will know whether it actually works or not would be to buy yourself a car and test it out. The levers, locks and paddle shifters all work, your friends will annoy you by twisting the knobs and switches quoting STAR WARS because they know nothing about F1 and all will be laughs until you tell them the price.

There is the cheaper option that comes in a smaller scale of 1/4 for the really die hard fan. Still at $245 and that size we are talking premium collectible.

The one thing that will make you feel better about the USD5000 price tag would be the fact that the real thing costs between USD70,000 to 100,000. Also, you can spread the guilt of spending so much money on a steering wheel that does not work but comes with its own leather display base and acrylic case over a period of 4 months while your spouse finalizes the divorce papers and child custody.

inundating myself with F1 and Ferrari history this past month not just because of my research for the magazine but more by chance. Like finding Manish Pandey’s Documovie ‘Heroes’ which had me in tears for many reasons. It’s amazing how motorsport is so interconnected and what a scary reckoner of mortality it can be.

This beautiful hand crafted, hand painted and hand-built Ferrari 156 ‘Sharknose’ by Brumm is a stunning ode and reminder of a German driver who played a huge role in motorsport long

the Kerpen Go-Kart racetrack where Michael and Ralf Schumacher later started their career when the track was leased out by their father.

Von Trips had many accidents and was a race driver during one of the most dangerous periods of motorsport, where the cars were becoming faster and more powerful but safety was on the back burner in both the cars and at the events. Shortly after establishing Kerpen, Von Trips was battling Phil Hill in Monza for the World Championship when he collided with Jim Clarke and was launched into the embankment killing himself and 15 spectators. A sad end to a short but illustrious racing career of Count Wolfgang Von Trips

1000 RACE LEGACY

Ferrari may not be going through the best of days or season for a very long time but, they have been the source of some proper racing drama for a while now and in typical Italian fashion the drama continues. 2021 will be a very nail biting year for everyone in the Ferrari team. For model car collectors, bring on the champagne.

Brought to you by Bburago in 1/18 scale this is the 2020 SF1000 car with the special livery that celebrated 1000 race starts for Ferrari in its entire Formula 1 career. Which is as long as Formula 1 itself. 2020 was a dismal season for the scarlet team but that didn’t stop them from celebrating in Tuscan with a one-off livery and racing kits colors for the race. Bburago has achieved a sense of perfection with these F1 cars having been putting them together for so long.

For a well-priced Formula 1 car (words that are usually never said together) Bburago brings the details in as much as possible. Like Sebastian Vettel’s special helmet for the race seen very clearly here in the cockpit. The paint finish is also very good along with the sponsor branding and badging, quite obvious that Bburago really take pride in their F1 models.

SEASON 2021

Bburago as always comes out with the team cars so you an have a choice of either LeClerc or Vettel or both. But be warned, F1 cars are longer than normal models so they will sit oddly together on the shelf.

Attention to detail on these are admirable upon close inspection. The carbon fiber diffusers at the back and chassis, the tiny aerodynamic additions made like fins and splitters crafted and recreated faithfully. The steering rack and the way the wheels turn, the realistic looking slicks many things that what satisfy any collector.

There is always going to be a more expensive options available and we encourage you by all means if you can afford to go ahead and make your collection stellar but for an average collector this is a fantastic piece that will make you very happy to own.

“GET IN LEWIS” THERE

We can’t look at Formula 1 and not talk about the reigning 7 time World Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton. Bburago has a very special edition of the winning car of 2020 in 1/43 scale, with a collector’s edition sleeve.

But first some more Ferrari since this issue celebrates Ferrari over any other marque. And here we have the equally impressive

The 1/43 scale versions are great one because of the size and the other is the fact that they mostly come in a display box which really suit fans who live in dust prone conditions. Comparing the 1/43 and the 1/18 is exactly the same quality in terms of detail, it's just the size that differs.

The Mercedes version is as equally as impressive as its Ferrari counterpart and of course for Mercedes

The finest that fits the budget.

Hidden away in the Bburago catalogue Ferrari section is a set of eight 1/43 scale cars under the Ferrari Racing series that caught our eye and we asked Bburago whether we could have a look at some of them. Turns out, they are very good collectors’ pieces and are a very nice cross section of Ferrari Racing cars other than Formula 1.

Packaging

This is very exciting. This is nothing like we’ve experienced with Bburago before an its quite refreshing with a brand as old as these guys. As the box slid out from the bottom, I kept thinking, how have we missed these for so long. Once the box is out of the sleeve the front folds forward like a red carpet to reveal an acrylic case with curved edges, protection sticker at the top, a beautiful 1/43 Ferrari inside on a black base with a silver nameplate detailing the car’s race history and drivers. Again, how have we missed these.

This car however with its flat-12 boxer engine was doing a decent job at endurance races in the hands of legendary racers Ickx and Andretti. 1972 was a good year for the Ferrari and the 312 P (B) won all the World Sportscar Champion races it took part in that year. A glimmer of hope that Ferrari could still hold there own in a world of racing.

312P

1978

First of all, there are two different Ferrari’s called the 312P which can be a cause for confusion. So for everyone’s interest and sanity this is actually the Ferrari 312 P(B) driven by Jacky Ickx and Mario Andretti in the 1972 Glen Watkins 6H race and winner. This car was actually produced at a very critical time for Ferrari in Motorsport. After FORD, Porsche continued to lock any Ferrari’s out of the endurance races and in turn Ferrari were struggling to find competitiveness and grip in Formula 1 (a bit like today).

This model has been a surprise hit for me. The details are pretty accurate the overall body shape of the car matches all the comparison photos, the racing colors are accurate overall a very good piece of race history from Bburago with a very good finish. I really can’t imagine a Ferrari fan not wanting to get this. And the best part is the cost.

This is not going to cost you an arm or a leg and considering how well it is

308 GTB RALLYE

Known for its finesse even in racing, its hard to imagine a Ferrari being treated to the hard and unforgiving conditions of rallying. On the flip side, there is hardly anything more satisfying than hearing a thundering V8 rip through the forests at breakneck speed. There are plenty of videos on YouTube to enjoy and experience the action.

In the usual complicated world of Ferrari this Ferrari was a Ferrari that wasn’t a Ferrari but blessed by Ferrari and handed over to Michelotto who proceeded to build 308 rally cars with everything supplied by Ferrari. The outcome was nothing short of stunning and Group 4 Rallying had a new winning contender. Unfortunately due to safety reasons, Group 4 Rallying was scrapped and the 308 went on to become a silver screen star with a Hawaiian shirt wearing mustached co-star.

I love this car and I love how Bburago is very quietly dropping these pieces into their catalogue in fact two new additions have been made to the series. A 250 Testa Rossa 1959 and a 512BB 2nd Series 1981 set for release this year. Till then you still have time to collect all of what has been released so far.

Bburago has, in terms of models and racing Ferrari’s. And the reproduction is pretty good. Little things like tow hooks and anti-glare headlight covers get missed or overlooked but, Bburago has made the effort.

430 GTC 2008

Although Ferrari gave up LeMans officially in the early 70’s there have been many Independent teams that have benefitted and succeeded from the Ferrari’s they have raced. Teams like BMS Scuderia owned by an Italian steel magnet who fielded this very car in the GT2 Class of 2008 LeMans.

Along with the other two we looked at, this range seems to be a bit premium in terms of finish, packaging and of course choice of models. The cross section is a real good look at what potential

I certainly think that this is a great line to invest in and can’t wait for the two new models to be released as well. If the 312 P(B) is anything to by, then this seems to be a great collection to get your hands on. The already available cars that we haven’t featured, DO look very cool and are definitely collector worthy.

The McLaren F1 GTR was a whole different type of beast on the tracing track. Spun off the McLaren F1 to compete in GT racing, it first hit tarmac in 1995, and in it's inaugural year was crowned by a stunning win at Le Mans, followed by a slew of other victories throughout the years. Out of the 28 cars built, most had some sort of accolade thrown at it during it's lifespan. We are here to shed light on one particular model, Chassis #10R.

THIS WAS ONE OF THOSE CARS THAT KNEW FROM THE GET GO THAT IT HAD TO PROVE SOMETHING

This model was the first 1996 presentation model. Built to replace the race-winning #01R. It was a test and development mule for some technologies that McLaren was building. It went up to the point of pre-qualifying at Le Mans, but did not race at the end. So where did this ultimate machine go from there?

McLaren converted the GTR into a barely-road-legal car and it was purchased by non other than Nick Mason, drummer of the internationally famous group Pink Floyd. Nick in an avid car collector, amateur/semi-pro racing driver and all-around gearhead. Among his many cars sits a 1962 Ferrari 250GTO valued in excess of £30m, F40, GTB/4 Daytona and a 512S.. . among a host of equally exotic automobiles.

Solido has released this spectacular model as the Mclaren F1 GTR Short Tail – Launch Livery – 1996 which I personally think they need to rename to the McLaren F1 GTR Nick Mason. Stunning paint job, and model specific livery, opening doors as with most Solido models. Alas no other opening parts, but hey you get a chance to get really close to the interior. The model is limited to3000 pieces worldwide.

The model was released early this year due to the delay during the year that shall not be named. Another model, Le Mans legend with the Gulf Racing livery driven by Ray Bellm is also available. So why don't you get both, road and race.

Nick MasoN

is one of the founding members of Pink Floyd and has been in every one of its albums. He's also an amateur racing driver placing second in his class in Le Mans 24 hours in 1979 and first in his class at Nürburgring 1000 Kilometers race in 1981. Oh plus he's a certified pilot, author, automotive writer and still playing... at 77.

The McLaren F1 GTR he owns, on which the Solido model is based on, has an interesting story behind on how it came to be in his possession. Apparently, he swapped an IndyCar that McLaren boss Ron Dennis wanted with the F1.

Also he crashed the car in 2017 at the 75th Goodwood Members' Meeting. We hope that it has been restored back to it's original pristine condition.

LANCE MÜLLER SCOPES OUT THE DIECAST AND SCALE MODEL SCENE IN MONGOLIA

Mongolia is not a country that pops up often on groups and forums dedicated diecast and scale model collecting. Nor does many countries along the ancient Silk Road. How many collectors have you connected recently with from Kazakhstan? Or how many of you have even heard of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, or Turkmenistan in Central Asia... Bet not a lot of you.

Mongolia is located in South/Central Asia, landlocked between Frenemies Russia and China. It is home to about 2.3m people and its capital is Ulaanbaatar, which hosts about 45% of the population. It is most famous for being the birthplace of The Great Khan, Genghis, who most people on the planet are probably related to.

Okay, with that Lonely Planet / National Geographic / Wikipedia moment over, let's move on.

It was quite a serendipitous moment when I stumbled upon a video shared by TsogtOchir Batchuluun in one of the FB groups that I lurk in. It was one of him being interviewed on Mongolian TV about diecast and scale model collecting and what it's all about.

A quick profile check and a DM later, we got chatting. It seems that the diecast scene is alive and kicking it since awhile, and Tsogt-Ochir was the admin of a 6000-strong group of collectors who have regular get-togethers since about 2012. So I had a chat with Tsogt and this is what he had to say.

diecast mongolia is one of the first facebook community groups of mongolian model car collectors. i first established this group in 2012 to introduce my hobbies to my friends and to search the others who are passionate of this hobby.

i was not waited so long, fellow collectors joined my group soon. there were more people who had collection of model cars than ever thought. we found each other, met together, talked about our interests, and showed each other our model cars.

we were moved when a friend first suggested that we have an exhibition in november 2013. people from all over the mongolian collection were invited to participate, and most refused, fearing that their valuable models would be destroyed. however, it was decided to hold an exhibition, and the venue, the tv channel, and the journalists had all been prepared, so we decided to have an exhibition, even with a small number of models. Luckily, little by little, more than 200 models of cars were successfully exhibited.

since then, an exhibition has been organized every year to help introduce the hobby to mongolia and increase the number of like-minded people.

we now have 6,300 members and run regular events. in our capital city there are 4 local retail stores that sell model cars.

I live for moments like this, where I can connect with collectors from far flung locales, get to know people from places that aren't usually known on the collectors map.

This reinforces the idea that this particular hobby is truly global and it manages to bring people together, even if they are divided by geography, language, or other physical barriers.

Andrew Ritter got his start as an artist and photographer in the automotive industry. In recent years, Andrew has spent his time learning the craft of 3D modeling and bringing to life a cute world populated by our favorite cars and trucks. From iconic vintage race cars to the cars that make up today’s tuner culture, he draws on his inspiration as an enthusiast to pour character into his 3D models.

The cars begin life as simple sketches and then start to take shape as Andrew constructs the 3D structure from the ground up. Tapping into a fun and whimsical world of big wheels and exaggerated proportions, his work embodies the excitement that many of us found in four-wheeled vehicles as kids.

At a young age, Andrew's father instilled a love for cars in him that still enriches his life to this day. It's Andrew's hope that his new company, Ritter Goods, can inspire a similar passion for cars and art in viewers, young and old.

As the new year rolls on, more fun will roll out of his studio with dreams set on bringing the Ritter Goods renderings to life one day soon. We can just hear the meaty tires squealing and the little engines roaring to life.

SVT

JADA is doing some really nice trucks and this new SVT Lightning by FORD is BLOWING. OUR. MINDS. One of the best pickup models I’ve seen in a long time AND it comes with an optional wheel set in its own wheel rack as well.

LIGHTNING

I don’t know if this pick up is popular in my mind because of its organic cult status or the fact that it was the truck that Brian used in FnF part 1 while working for the Auto Parts place. Either way pickups are fascinating things they could be beautiful beasts of burden or just beasts under the hood. And of course versatile.

SVT

First up let’s talk body work. Smooth lines, opening parts line up pretty good, the metallic blue is a stellar awesome color, great finish. The silver racing lines, and low dropped stance give the pickup that lightning look and I really like the realistic looking grille’s. The fog lights at the bottom are a great attention to detail and even the headlights have that dated 90s look about them.

Details. Lots of opening parts! The trail bed door flips down, the cab doors open, and the bonnet opens to reveal a silver painted engine. You can clearly see the slotted brake discs with painted calipers through the black sports rims which come factory fitted. There is also an extra set of silver rimmed tyres but the black goes so well I wouldn’t switch.

I really like this model and I hope that JADA will continue to release this casting with a few color variations or even some different paint finishes, whatever it is I think JADA should keep rereleasing this on a regular basis because this would make a great collection all by itself. I really would mind a collection of SVT’S.

CASTHEADS COUTURE

It is loud, but so comfortable it makes you want to jump around. It really has a spring in its step and that is probably because of that special midsole of lightweight cushioning. These shoes are built for long wear times and active life. Great support provided by the TPU pieces at the midsole and heel and the combination of textures between textile, leather and suede are interwoven in style.

PUMA + FERRARI are out with a new line for the Spring Summer 2021 collection and we got a few pieces to put through their paces. To be real, this job is insanely fun and testing out PUMA wear is the icing on the cake. First in line is the Scuderia Ferrari Mirage MOX (trying saying that in a row quickly). It comes in two dominant colors one red the other white and we got the red pair.

If I were to compare these shoes to a Ferrari it would be the F12DF. Beautiful and comfortable yet aggressive and loud a delicate balance between to characteristics. Aside from the sole philosophy bare laces time, these are freekin shoes to wear forever!!!

Pour some habanero sauce all over me and call me a monkey’s uncle. These in my humble opinion are the best driving shoes a road going thrill seeking boy racer could get for himself under USD 100. You can even buy them on-line in installments if you like, that’s how accessible these reps are.

The Speed Cats are definitely slip on and head out for drinks and maybe dinner sort of shoes. Simple suede shoes that go with most of your lounge lizard wear spartan branding of PUMA and Ferrari and a very sleek unsophisticated design derived from the same shoes used by Formula 1 drivers.

Having had the Drift Cat II earlier I was very curious as to how my feet would accept the Speed Cats I was assuming in theory it would be very similar so my feet wouldn’t protest too much but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The Speed Cats feel more lounge as opposed to the Drift Cats which had tons of padding to make your foot rigid in the shoe.

CAST HEADS COUTURE

Whether it’s walking the dog, going for a jog or lounging in front of the TV with the sound off reading the new issue of CastHeads Magazine comfort will always be the deciding factor when choosing shorts.

And man, these PUMA FERRARI shorts take the cake and lie in it. I tried on these softies and they were brilliant I just wanted to stay in bed all day relaxing in these super comfy shorts.

Of course, because these are original products you can tell the difference straight off the bat as you put them on. They feel lighter and breathe much better, they sit and fit better on the body and of course made to highest standards in technology.

The new line of FERRARI clothes that fill the Spring Summer collection for 2021 are brilliant. The colors palette that has been chosen is Red, Black and White and of course the racing touches + Ferrari branding woven into the design.

This year’s collection is actually quite ‘loud’ and ‘street’ with large typography and brighter color combinations.

I love the new Hoodie jackets, the one sent us has the co-ordinates to the FIORANO test track printed on the arm in white on a dominant black. I feel like the hottest (meant literally because we are in a tropical country wearing a hoodie jacket) hip hop star / breakout act in this jacket. When you zip it up it goes turtleneck AND you have a hoodie AS WELL, I may die of heatstroke but god I will look sooooo good!

The cap is also some new space age design where the beak folds in three places and at the back instead of clasps that deteriorates or breaks this has a draw string and drawstring lock which also allows you to fit this cap on your head like a glove.

PARKING DESKTOP

The guys over at Dream Customs is literally rocking the world with the designer desktop diorama mousepads and they sent over this fantastic multicar car park that’s so nice we shot it with all our TLVN TOMICA FERRARI’S.

As far as practicality goes these mouse pads are truly of the highest quality. I got my first pad from Dream Customs over a year ago and after several washes it remains un-frayed and still in fantastic shape. So, I can attest to the fact that these mousepads will last you a long time.

There are two sizes to choose from and of course several designs which make them

great backgrounds for random 1/64 shots that you may want to do in office or if you WFH then you have all your cars at your disposal to take random sots on your new diorama pad. And, if your company pays for you to set up your home office then add this to this bill!
