Individual vs. Company Ethics

Individual ethics are formed from socialization groups, family members, age groups, and religion. These morals are then integrated into a business. Good personal ethics are more likely to decrease unethical practices.

Community ethics are established jointly and not based on an individual's personal ethics.

How Power and Personal Integrity Affect Behavior

Power can affect a person's behavior because it can make them feel like they are above everyone else. Power can also cause people to make them feel like they have different rules than people not in as much power.

Ethical Risks in Nexus

NEXUS is the connection between an employee and the business.

NEXUS is how the company handles an employee's behaviors and the discipline actions that will occur,

Power can also cause people to lift others up. This means that people in power can stick to their personal integrity and use the power to build a business, rather than tear it down.

Ferrel Ethical Decision-Making Framework 1

The Ferrell Ethical Decision-Making Framework is the concept that ethical behavior that is influenced by factors that include personal background, socialization, organizational characteristics, and external influences.

Amazon’s Stakeholders 2

Amazon Business Dilemma

Consequences

The stakeholders in Amazon include executives, employees, shareholders, customers, suppliers, competitors, and government entities.

According to (Canopy Management,2025)

“Amazon’s Ai makes decisions about your account with no initial human review, and you need to understand how these systems work.”

The issue is that Amazon is incorporating Ai into their company and it does not need any human review.

Ai can make decisions without any review, causing the customer and the seller to feel impersonal.

Ai can deal with customers without any emotion.

Ai can also handle money wrong and cause the customer and the seller to lose money.

The ethical decision to have an employee over the AI system to ensure that no isssues occur. Ethical Choice 5

Personal and Organizational Values

Personal Values: The morals that a person bases their life on. This effects how they handle relationships in and out of the workplace.

Amazon’s Values: According to (Amazon News,2026) “Amazon’s core values center on customer obsession, innovation, ownership, and long-term thinking, guiding every aspect of its business and leadership.”

Attitudes, Experience, and Relationships

Amazon’s company is to ensure customer satisfaction, and they are based off of leadership skills of “invention and simplify”. Amazon’s employees are trained to prioritize customers need. The company is fast-paced and results driven which shows how committed the company is to customer satisfaction.

Levels of Morality

Amazon’s Levels of Morality: Innovation and efficiency in retail and tech industries. They also include artificial intelligence ethics, labor protections, and environmental sustainability.

Firms vs Society

Firms: A business organization (corporation, partnerships, ) that provide a good or service to make a profit.

Society: Includes everyone effected by the firmcustomers, employees, communities, and the government.

J

Amazon’s Distributive Justice:

Amazon advertises that the company pays above minimum wage. Starting between $15- 17$ an hour.

Amazon would need a fair reason to layoff an employee. This includes over-hiring, automation, cost-cutting, or legal requirements.

Amazon’s working conditions are physically demanding, hazards are present, 10+ hour shifts, fast work pace, and a high pressure environment.

Misleading claims:

Amazon prime “sign ups:

Fake Discounts and prime-day deals

Misleading reviews and recommendations

“Hidden Advertisement”

Economic Fairness:

Amazon workers are paid modestly considering Amazon’s profits.

Hight demands vs limited working conditions.

Pay is higher than minimum wage

Benefits can be available depending on job title.

Environmental Responsibility

Social Responsibility Employee Responsibility Consumer Responsibilities

Amazon is focused on environmental factors like reducing its own emissions, supporting global climate solutions, and promoting sustainability. Amazon is also working on waste management, increasing recyclability, and using natural resources responsibly.

Amazon invests in education, housing, and disaster relief.

Amazon also has a childhood to career program that educates children about computer science to those in underserved communities.

Amazons' employees must follow all environmental policies. Employees are also obligated to follow social media requirements. Employees must also treat other employees with the same respect that they want to be shown.

Amazon's consumers must make informed purchasing decisions. They must also leave honest reviews about the product. Consumers are also expected to avoid return abuse.

My Code of ethics for Amazon would be “treat others how you would want to be treated”. This code would go for all of my employees, whether they are at a high level in the company, or a low level in the company. I would expect my workers to treat customers with honor and respect. This includes the drivers, as well as software engineers, and warehouse workers. I would also want all of my employees to treat each other with respect. There would be no tolerace for discrimination off of any biased. I would not allow Amazon to have cliques or bullying within the company. I would have a chief executive officer who would oversee the company ethics. I would also allow for an anonymous hot line that would allow for a reporting system. There is a difference in ethics around different cultures. For example, in the U.S, it is accustom to greet people with a handshake. In Europe, there might be a more personal approach like kissing on the cheek. This exchange could be seen as a sexual pass. In different culture, there is a disconnect between business appropriation. It is important for a business to define what is ethically appropriate in the corporation.

Cyber ethics: This includes that when you are speaking to a business colleague, you treat them as though you are at work with them. This means keeping emails and social media appropriate between both lines in a company. In the workplace and online.

Law vs Morality: The law is enforced by the government, why morality is not. With the Law there is a physical punishment, whether that meaning fines or jail time. With morality, the punishment includes guilt and loss of trust.

Compliance: Ethical reasoning allows for you to be trusted in the company because of your morals. You can even move up in a company because you have a set of personal ethics and values and you also respect a company's values.

Amazon Ethical Risks Protection Changes as Ceo How I view Business Ethics

Amazon is ethically at risk because of their workplace environments. The environment does not accommodate how the workers are being treated, specifically in the workplace. There are hazards and other various possibility for injury. The break times are also not long enough for 10+ hour shifts.

Amazon is legally protected because it is an LLC corporation. This means that they have limited liability. This could also mean that a new employee might not understand the demands from the company and ge themselves into a difficult situation. Amazon has compliance systems, but their code of ethics needs to be updated and there should be more accommodations for the demanding warehouse work.

If I were the CEO, I would make sure that employees received all of their break time, and increase the breaktime, especially in the warehouse. I would also update the safety precautions to avoid injuries of my employees. I would also make sure that the employees feel like they can be heard by making sure there were full investigations about anonymous tips. I would also add physical benefits to those who work in the warehouse. This would include health physicals to make sure that my workers were not overworked their bodies

Now

From this project, I learned that it is very important to set clear ethics within a company. Everyone must be on the same page abput how a business is ran. I also learned that it is good to kow if a person has good personal morals. I also learned that companies can be protected under a popular name.
