Instrumentation:
Solo recorder – 3 instruments as below, all require amplification
Baroque alto recorder in F with low-E foot or instrument tuned at A=415Hz
Tenor Ganassi in C Bassett recorder in F (sounds an octave higher than written)
The recorder soloist has two positions: at the front of the orchestra and from bar 234, next to the piccolos within the orchestra. No amplification is needed in the second position

2 Flutes (both double piccolo; flute 1 doubles alto flute)
1 Oboe
1 Cor Anglais
1 Clarinet in Bb
1 Bass Clarinet (doubling contrabass clarinet)
1 Bassoon

2 Horns [horns require ʻwa-waʼ mutes – bass trombone harmon mutes can be customised to fit the horn bell]
3 Trumpets in Bb (trumpet 1 plays piccolo trumpet in B b [wa-wa mutes and Trumpets 2 and 3 also need straight mutes]
2 Trombones (trombone 1 doubling alto trombone) [straight mute, harmon, Alto trombone needs plunger mute]
1 Euphonium [straight mute]
2 percussion Perc 1: vibraphone [also needs bow] pair of bongos tom-toms x 3 [also with superball]
Perc 2: tambourine [also with superball] rototom tenordrum bass drum [rūthes, superball, beaters] tubular bells (2 octaves)
