In2005IdidaprojectwiththeEnglishartistandfilmmakerPeter Greenaway,called writingonwater.Itwasakindofcircus,withlive calligraphy,livemulti-screenvideoandfilmprojectiononfourscreens thatsurroundedthestage,andtheLondonSinfonietta.Ienjoyeditalot. WhatIenjoyedthemost,however,wasthebeautifullibrettothatPeter hadcraftedoutoffragmentarydescriptionsofseatravelandshipwrecks fromTheTempest,TheRimeoftheAncientMariner,andMobyDick. ThistextwassomovingtomethatIaskedPeterifhewouldwriteme anotherone,thistimepossiblyonareligioussubject,oratleast somehowrelatedtoanoldtestamenttheme.ArkLuggagewasthetext hesentme,alistof92thingsNoahtookalongwithhimduringtheflood. ThewayIinterpretedthistextwastonoticehowPetershowsthe confidenceNoahhasinpackingforhislifeaftertheflood,confident abouthissurvivalpastthecatastrophe.Theactofpackingthese suitcasesitselfbecomesastatementoffaith,andasimplelistbecomes akindofprayer.
