ayudame was written for Claire Bryant. From Spanish to English, “ayudame” translates to “help me.” This work was very difficult to write as I found it to be incredibly dark. The opening theme represents a defining moment of a personal struggle to emotionally let go of oneself. Imagine being so frustrated and not knowing how to make resolution, that all you can do is to hold this dark energy by clinging and making a fist. The music is locked inside your fingers and cannot escape. As the piece unfolds, more tension and frustration occurs. Being completely vulnerable, you are brought into a deeper place of relentless instability until you explode. The energy escapes your fingers, freeing your hand, and there is an emotional awakening. Resolution is craved, and nearly achieved as the piece winds down. However, you are inevitably brought back into this dark world.
