We have two children, Tabitha who is 13, and Evan who will be turning 9 this month. We enjoy the beautiful weather, the ocean, the mountains and the California lifestyle, but are still, and will always be, Midwesterners at heart. I was so hoping to fly back for the 50th anniversary, but family life and end of the school year schedules made that not possible. It was a safe place that prepared me for adulthood and a wonderful experience that provided blessings beyond measure. After all, that’s where I met my husband!

Personal Message for the Memory Book: I treasure the good memories and the close bond from my fellow K-phi Sisters. I met my loving husband, Ken, at Carthage in 1968, and he is the joy of my life. In 1971 we were married and Debbie (Knowlan) Worthington, was one of my beautiful bridesmaids. Debbie and I have enjoyed keeping in touch. Our life is blessed with two amazing daughters and one grandson. Our oldest daughter, Lisa, just graduated with her PhD from Indiana University. Our youngest daughter, Amy, is an architect in Minneapolis. Our grandson, Elliot, just turned two and he has stolen our hearts. We try to find every opportunity to spend time with our family. I have many interests that keep me busy besides care giving. I am a member of a neighborhood book club. I love photography, gardening, traveling, baking, and knitting.

Hanging out with Kappa Phi Eta friends on the floor, usually in Linda Kohl’s room with her guitar and singing amazing folk songs in our two or three part harmony several nights per week. Now, some of us get together every other year to celebrate our friendships, thanks to the organization skills of a former president, Anne (Crane) Morgan. “And the Best Part is the Singing”. Personal Message for the Memory Book: There continue to be so many blessings from my four years at Carthage College. I am so pleased that my husband, Jim and daughter, Katherine know so many of my alumni friends, traditions and joys from Carthage days. There was nothing better on earth than the friends, the Kappa Phi Eta sisters and traditions, the professors, worship & chapels, Pastor Riggle, the lake and the parkland, the snow, the J terms, and the readiness for post-graduate studies. I am most impressed by the fact the all the traditions created by charter members, (thanks to Myra Hawkinson) and the next few classes remain with the K-phi's today. Some are updated and jazzed up but survive as the basis of all things Kappa Phi Eta. If you had the chance to relive a single Kappa Phi Eta moment, which one would you choose? I always shed a tear for every yellow rose I see. The symbol is so striking, meaningful, and memory laden that I stop and reflect on Kappa Phi Eta, my friendships and sisters. It brings great joy to my heart. I also planted a garden full of yellow roses several years ago, which bloom with great energy all summer. Personal Message for the Memory Book: I believe that Kappa Phi Eta lives on today because of the dedication of sisters hard work, friendships, sharing, and love that continue to link us together over time. I also believe that I have had the opportunity to meet every one of our sisters over the last 50 years- quite an impressive group of women. There were the celebrations of our sisterhood with rose banquets, formals, and pledge parties/ activations, but what had the most meaning was the laughter, singing, crying, working together, being creative, and celebrating our bond of friendship on a day to day basis. If you had the chance to relive a single Kappa Phi Eta moment, which one would you choose? Working together with Jane Spencer on the 10th anniversary rose banquet. In 1975, we were so intent on making the banquet perfect as the co-chairs. If there was a chance to relive it, we would have laughed more and been satisfied with joyful imperfection! Personal Message for the Memory Book: I have such wonderful memories of being a K-phi. And I am so very blessed to have the special friends I made still in my life!! My family have gotten to see how important these ‘sisters’ are to me as I travel as often as I can to see them! Some personal info…I married that nice Ron Piethe and we are celebrating 38 years of marriage this August! Where has the time gone!! He and I are both retired from the semiconductor industry and are enjoying our current project of planning and building a farm house in Sonoma County. We have three children; Brian, 30, Mark, 27, and Kristie, 24. Both sons are married and live in WA and Kristie is engaged to be married next year and lives in San Jose. We have one grandson and another one due in July. On a personal note, I love quilting, gardening, and keeping in touch with old friends from work, bible study, and Los Madres. I belong to a stock investment club where like minded women meet monthly to analyze stocks to buy and sell. We have a rescue pit bull, Kipa, who is the sweetest dog and a golden retriever, Chloe, who quite honestly is not all there sometimes…but we love her… I wish I could be there with you all but I know you will have a blast connecting with the NICE GIRLS OF KAPPA PHI ETA WHO ARE HARD TO BEAT!! My sophomore year living on the floor was the best with so many funny moments, and living with Nancy Ries! Personal Message for the Memory Book: I am married to Jim Seefeldt (also Carthage Grad) for the past 27 years. We have three children, Michael 25, Lauren 21, and Alyssa 17. We spend two weeks every summer in Newport Beach California which I love, love to read, walk, bike, and this year did something on my bucket list; I swam with the dolphins in the Cayman Islands. K-phi was a great experience with great friends, and many "pee your pants" moments, I will always cherish. Ask Nancy Ries about "having her loops in." Rush was always fun, and the frat-sorority parties and Rose Banquet were a highlight!

They never fell at a convenient time with regard to homework, etc. but looking back I miss those times with my pledge sisters. Who wouldn't miss Brian serenading Rena on her answering machine?! Personal Message for the Memory Book: I was lucky enough to not only be a K-phi but also be their adviser years later. Watching the girls carry on traditions and embrace our sisterhood was a blessing I will cherish forever. Since I graduated I realize that life brings many ups and downs, new jobs, new cities, and new families, but my K-phi sisters have always been by my side. Time has made my heart grow fonder for my sisterhood and I hope that it does for future generations as well.
