This spring, we helped place this year’s agriculture book of the year, "I LOVE Blueberries!," on the shelves of state-funded public libraries right here in our community. The program promotes agricultural education for young readers and is made possible through the partnership of the Georgia Foundation for Agriculture, Georgia Public Library Service, county Farm Bureau offices and Georgia EMC.

The average lifespan of a refrigerator, water heater, washer/dryer or dishwasher is 10 to 15 years. How old are your major appliances?
There’s no need to replace a perfectly good appliance the moment it turns 15, of course. But at some point, the cost of repairs will start creeping up each time you call a service tech. Then, it’s probably time to start shopping.
Manufacturers make appliances more energy-efficient and more convenient with every new model. So, if you’re not sure you want to buy something new, take a trip to a big-box or appliance store and check out the latest versions. You might like what you see.
USDA and Carroll EMC Celebrate 90th Anniversary of the Rural Electrification Act
This May, Carroll EMC received a ceremonial check from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for funding to expand rural electric service in our area. Funding is from USDA’s Electric Infrastructure Loan Program.
“Carroll EMC is thankful for the funding available through the USDA and Rural Utilities Service (RUS) to help our Members have the most modern, reliable electric service possible. This money helps our cooperative grow and enhance our system throughout the seven counties we serve in west Georgia,” says Tim Martin, Carroll EMC’s CEO.
This rural development investment for Carroll EMC will finance the construction of 187 miles of new consumer lines and 450 miles of line improvements to connect 4,300 new consumers in west Georgia. This loan supports Carroll EMC’s long-range priorities of system reliability, consumer growth and infrastructure modernization.
Since the Rural Electrification Act (REA) was enacted, Georgia continues to be one of the largest users of RUS loans, leading to growth throughout the state. "In large part, thanks to the support of USDA and the Rural Electrification Administration, Georgia’s EMCs have grown from a mechanism to bring light to rural farmland and towns 90 years ago to becoming true partners in progress,” says Dennis Chastain, President and CEO of Georgia EMC.
How Old Are Your Home's Windows?
If your home’s windows are made with single panes of glass, you know they are old. Some manufacturers don’t even make those any longer because they are so inefficient.
Replace your old windows with models that have double or even triple panes. They will help lower your A/C costs in the summer and the heating bill in the winter.
Other reasons to replace windows this summer?
If you see condensation on the inside of the glass of double- or triple-pane windows, that can signal a seal failure, which means hot air could be sneaking inside your home.
If you can hear everything that’s going on outside when the windows are closed, new windows with thicker glass could help keep noise out and cool air in.

ANNUAL MEETING – OCTOBER 1, 2026
DIRECTOR NOMINATIONS
SECTION 3.06. Nominations.
(a) The Board of Directors shall appoint, not less than one hundred thirty (130) days before the date of the meeting at which members of the Board of Directors are to be elected, a committee on nominations, consisting of not less than two (2) Members residing in the Districts in which Directors’ terms expire in that year (the “Nominating Committee”). No Member nor Close Relative nor member of the same household of a Director may serve on such committee. The committee shall meet and nominate not less than one (1) nor more than two (2) qualified Member(s) residing in the District where a vacancy will occur by term expiration. The committee shall prepare and post at the principal office of the Cooperative at least one hundred twenty (120) days before the meeting its list of nominees.
(b) In addition, any one hundred (100) or more Members of the Cooperative acting together may make additional nominations in writing not less than seventy-five (75) days prior to the meeting (the “Nominating Petition”), and the Secretary shall post such nominations at the same place where the list of nominations made by the Committee is posted. The Nominating Petition shall (1) list on each page of the Nominating Petition the name of the Member; (2) indicate on each page of the Nominating Petition the director position for which the Member so nominated will run; and (3) contain the printed names, addresses, telephone numbers and original dated signatures signed within sixty (60) days of the first signature.
In compliance with the Bylaws of the Corporation, as amended, the duly appointed Nominating Committee for Board Districts 1, 3 & 7, met at the Headquarters Building at 155 N. Highway 113, Carrollton, Georgia, at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2026 for the purpose of making nominations for the office of Director to fill the above specified terms which expire in 2026.
Following consideration of the qualifications required for a member to be eligible for the office of director, the Nominating Committee from each of said Board Districts did nominate the following members of the Corporation as nominees for Director from their respective Districts:
