EDITORIALE EDITORIAL

Care lettrici e cari lettori, il mese della ripartenza di scuole e attività è ormai passato e tutte le routine quotidiane sono state riprese. Quindi è tempo di pianificare anche il tempo libero, no?!?

Abbiamo davanti a noi due mesi di grandi eventi, da ArtVerona, che a partire dai padiglioni fieristici inonda la nostra città di arte moderna e soprattutto contemporanea, a FieraCavalli e Job&Orienta; dal Believe Film Festival, il festival cinematografico fatto dai giovani per i giovani tra i 14 e i 24 anni, al Festival Letterario Bookwalk fino alla maratona cittadina Verona Run Marathon. Iniziano anche le stagioni teatrali nei teatri cittadini: al via in ottobre la stagione di musica jazz, classica e di danza (da gennaio) al Teatro Ristori, a novembre comincia la prosa al Teatro Nuovo, con il Grande Teatro e il Divertiamoci a teatro; continua la stagione lirica al Teatro Filarmonico e la musica classica con I Virtuosi Italiani che alla classica abbinano concerti crossover tra arti e generi musicali. E di musica e musicoterapia si parla “Risonanze: Comunità Sonore per vivere meglio”.

L’autunno con i suoi colori e i suoi profumi ci porta a riconnetterci con la natura, tra visite in fattoria, campi di zucche e assaggi dei sapori tipici autunnali: il profumo di castagne, di miele e quello del bollito.

The month when schools and activities restarted is now over, and all daily routines have resumed. So it's time to plan your free time too, right?!?

We have two months of major events ahead of us, from ArtVerona, which floods our city with modern and contemporary art from the exhibition halls, to FieraCavalli and Job&Orienta; from the Believe Film Festival, the film festival made by young people for young people aged 14 to 24, to the Bookwalk Literary Festival and the Verona Run Marathon. The theatre seasons are also beginning in the city's theatres: October sees the start of the jazz, classical music and dance season at the Teatro Ristori, while November sees the start of prose at the Teatro Nuovo, with the Grande Teatro and Divertiamoci a teatro; the opera season continues at the Teatro Filarmonico and classical music is at home with I Virtuosi Italiani, who combine classical music with crossover concerts between arts and musical genres. Music and music therapy are the focus of an event at the Conservatory...

Autumn, with its colours and scents, brings us back into contact with nature, with visits to farms, pumpkin fields and tastings of typical autumn flavours: the scent of chestnuts, honey and boiled meat.

ARTVERONA COMPIE VENT’ANNI E SI RINNOVA

12 ottobre un’edizione ricca di eventi tra fiera e città.

Anno importante per la fiera di arte moderna e contemporanea che ogni anno ad ottobre viene ospitata nella nostra città: ArtVerona compie vent’anni!

Per celebrare questo traguardo un’edizione animata da una forte volontà di apertura, dialogo e dinamismo che si arricchisce di nuove visioni, progetti speciali tra fiera e città, collaborazioni d’eccellenza che portano Verona al centro dell’arte contemporanea.

Un’edizione che si rinnova anche grazie alla visione della nuova direttrice artistica Laura Lamonea e al tema Conversazione e scrittura, come lei stessa ci spiega: «In un tempo in cui le forme di comunicazione si moltiplicano, sentiamo il bisogno di riportare al centro la parola, il racconto, l’ascolto reciproco. La fiera si rinnova - nell’identità visiva, nella struttura e nei contenuticon l’intento di dare nuova forza a ciò che ha reso ArtVerona

uno spazio riconosciuto per la qualità della proposta artistica e per la sua dimensione umana e accessibile».

In fiera

In fiera, novità importante, non troveremo più la tradizionale separazione tra gallerie d’arte contemporanea e quelle del XX secolo per favorire il dialogo tra le opere e i linguaggi espressivi al di là della narrazione cronologica e mettere in dialogo gallerie consolidate con nuove realtà emergenti.

Accanto a Main Section, vero asse nevralgico di ArtVerona, e alle Editorie, ci saranno ben quattro nuovi segmenti espostivi: Steps, Effetto Sauna, Pittura ORA e “Video? Avete detto video?” Inoltre, nella hall sarà presente una Libreria, a cura di Frab’s, dove poter assistere a talk tematici, workshop e altre attività.

il Cinema, sì… avete capito bene! Sarà attivata una vera e propria sala cinema a cui poter accedere liberamente per momenti di riflessione e pausa.

I progetti in città

Uno dei punti forti della manifestazione è il dialogo con le istituzioni, i musei e le realtà espositive del territorio che permette la creazione di un ricchissimo programma di eventi che inondano la città di arte avvicinandola così a un pubblico sempre più vasto.

Potremmo infatti visitare mostre, installazioni e assistere a performance in alcuni dei luoghi più suggestivi, alcuni sicuramente poco noti, che eccezionalmente verranno aperti per essere così loro stessi ammirati.

Insomma, dal 10 ottobre Verona si trasforma in un grande museo diffuso!

Partiamo dalla riapertura di Palazzo Forti, storica sede del museo cittadino di arte moderna e contemporanea con la mostra The Then About As Until, a cura di Laura Lamonea, in collaborazione con Video Sound Art, che indaga il rapporto tra espressione verbale e immagine, partendo dalle ricerche verbovisuali degli anni ’60.

Proprio nel cuore della città, un altro edificio dal grande valore storico-artistico che straordinariamente potremmo visitare è il Palazzo del Capitanio in Cortile del Tribunale che accoglie la terza edizione di TOMORROWS: Folding, Flexing and Expanding, che, curata da Jessica Bianchera e Domenico Quaranta, si concentra sul tema del corpo come spazio di sperimentazione artistica e riflessione critica. Imperdibile è l’inaugurazione il 10 ottobre con un concerto e dj set a cura di Path Festival.

ArtVerona arriva anche nei luoghi più storici e simbolici della città come l’Antica Dogana di fiume che ospita l’installazione e la performance dell’artista cileno Enrique Ramírez, Una distanza senza sponde. Il progetto, ideato da Laura Lamonea e curato da Pascale Cassagnau, trasforma questo luogo di antica sorveglianza in uno spazio di ascolto e riflessione sui temi universali della migrazione, dello sradicamento e della memoria.

Potremo anche entrare in una fortificazione cinquecentesca, La Rondella delle Boccare che ospita Autogeografie: tu fai le foto, ma sei parte del paesaggio, un progetto che coinvolge studenti, artisti e realtà territoriali per esplorare con la fotografia il rapporto tra corpo e ambiente.

Gli incontri, a cura di Thomas Ba, porteranno inoltre alla produzione di due opere fruibili negli spazi della Rondella. Nel luogo simbolo della memoria scritta europea, La Biblioteca Capitolare va in scena Wounded Words Wounding Words, a cura di Marta Cereda. Un dialogo tra opere d’arte contemporanea e gli oltre 1200 manoscritti storici conservati nella biblioteca per un’esperienza inedita che sottolinea la forza dello spirito critico in ogni tempo.

Infine, il progetto It sounds like another word, ideato da Nicola Giuliani, propone una serie di interventi sonori e performativi in dialogo con

le varie mostre in città.

Alle Galleria d’Arte Moderna Achille Forti troveremo invece il format vis-à-vis: conversazione tra collezioni.

ARTVERONA CELEBRATES ITS TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY AND GETS A MAKEOVER

From 10 to 12 October, an edition packed with events at the fair and around the city.

TThis is an important year for the modern and contemporary art fair that is held in our city every October: ArtVerona turns 20!

To mark this milestone, this year's edition is characterised by a strong desire for openness, dialogue and energy, enriched by new visions, special projects involving both the fair and the city, and outstanding collaborations that place Verona at the centre of contemporary art. This edition has been revamped thanks to the vision of the new artistic director Laura Lamonea and the theme Conversation and Writing, as she herself explains:

'At a time when forms of communication are multiplying, we feel the need to bring words, storytelling and mutual listening back to the centre. The fair is being renewed - in its visual identity, structure and content - with the aim of giving new strength to what has made ArtVerona a recognised space for the quality of its artistic offering and its human and accessible dimension."

At the fair

An important new feature of the fair is that there will no longer be the traditional separation between contemporary art galleries and

20th-century galleries, in order to encourage dialogue between works and expressive languages beyond chronological narration and to bring established galleries into dialogue with new emerging realities.

Alongside the Main Section, the real nerve centre of ArtVerona, and the Editorial section, there will be four new exhibition segments: Steps, Effetto Sauna, Pittura ORA and “Video? Did someone say video?”. In addition, there will be a bookshop in the hall, curated by Frab's, where you can attend themed talks, workshops and other activities.

There is also great anticipation for the special projects, first and foremost among which, with its innovative format, is certainly Cinema, yes... you heard right!

A real cinema will be set up, which visitors can access freely for moments of reflection and a break.

Projects in the city

One of the highlights of the event is the dialogue with institutions, museums and exhibition venues in the area, which allows for the creation of a rich programme of events that flood the city with art, bringing it closer to an ever-wider audience.

We will be able to visit exhibitions, installations and performances in some of the most evocative locations, some of which are certainly little known, which will be opened exceptionally so that they too can be admired.

In short, from 10 October, Verona will be transformed into a large open-air museum!

Let's start with the reopening of Palazzo Forti, the historic home of the city's museum of modern and contemporary art, with the exhibition The Then About As Until, curated by Laura Lamonea, in collaboration with Video Sound Art, which explores the relationship between verbal expression and image, starting from the verbalvisual research of the 1960s.

Right in the heart of the city, another building of great historical and artistic value that we will have the extraordinary opportunity to visit is the Palazzo del Capitanio in Cortile del Tribunale, which is hosting the third edition of TOMORROWS: Folding, Flexing and Expanding. Curated by Jessica Bianchera and Domenico Quaranta, it focuses on the theme of the body as a space for artistic experimentation and critical reflection. Don't miss the opening on 10 October with a concert and DJ set by Path Festival.

ArtVerona also reaches the most historic and symbolic places in the city, such as the Antica Dogana di fiume, which is hosting the installation and performance by Chilean artist Enrique Ramírez, Una distanza senza sponde (A Distance Without Shores).

The project, conceived by Laura Lamonea and curated by Pascale Cassagnau, transforms this ancient place of surveillance into a space for listening and reflection on the universal themes of migration, uprooting and memory.

We will also be able to enter a 16th-century fortification, La

Rondella delle Boccare, which hosts Autogeografie: tu fai le foto, ma sei parte del paesaggio (Autogeographies: you take the photos, but you are part of the landscape), a project involving students, artists and local organisations to explore the relationship between the body and the environment through photography. The meetings, curated by Thomas Ba, will also lead to the production of two works that can be viewed in the Rondella spaces.

In the symbolic place of European written memory, the Capitolare Library will host Wounded Words Wounding

Words, curated by Marta Cereda. A dialogue between contemporary works of art and the more than 1,200 historical manuscripts preserved in the library for a unique experience that highlights the power of critical thinking throughout the ages.

Finally, the project It sounds like another word, conceived by Nicola Giuliani, offers a a series of sound and performance pieces/acts in dialogue with the various exhibitions in the city.

At the Achille Forti Gallery of Modern Art, we will find the vis-à-vis format: a conversation between collections.

A VERONA SI ESPLORA LA DIVERSITÀ CON INTERREGNO

Un anno di arte per interrogare la società e le sue trasformazioni con Interregno, a partire dalla domanda: cosa significa normalità? Il nuovo progetto promosso da Fondazione Cariverona con Urbs Picta, con la direzione artistica di Jessica Bianchera, porta a Verona un palinsesto diffuso che, dall’autunno 2025 fino all’estate 2026, comprende tre grandi mostre e un fitto programma pubblico con eventi, laboratori e attività didattiche. Al centro il ripensamento della normalità, come costruzione che cambia con la storia, la cultura e la società, e l’inclusione di corpi e visioni non conformi dove la diversità diventa valore fondamentale.

La prima proposta è NESSUNO ESCLUSO. Linguaggi dell’opera e accesso al sensibile, progetto espositivo di Fondazione Cariverona e UniCredit con Urbs Picta ospitato tra la sede di Fondazione Cariverona in via Forti 3A e la filiale scaligera di UniCredit in via Garibaldi 1. La mostra, curata dall’artista Cesare Pietroiusti, presenta fino al 30 agosto 2026 oltre 50 opere provenienti dalle due collezioni istituzionali e da quella del curatore. Un invito a riconoscere l’arte come diritto accessibile, reso possibile solo dalla pluralità di linguaggi e sguardi che aprono nuove forme di percezione del mondo. Nessuno escluso è visitabile gratuitamente solo per scuole e gruppi su prenotazione scrivendo a corsi@urbspicta.org, con un’apertura straordinaria al pubblico nei giorni di ArtVerona 2025 da venerdì 10 a domenica 12 ottobre.

Il progetto prosegue con TOMORROWS. Folding, Flexing and Expanding, a cura di Jessica Bianchera e Domenico Quaranta, in programma a Palazzo del Capitanio dal 10 ottobre

al 9 novembre 2025. La mostra di Fondazione Cariverona con Urbs Picta, in collaborazione con il Museo del Contemporaneo dell’Università di Verona e ArtVerona, invita a concepire l’arte come laboratorio critico per immaginare ciò che ancora non esiste e interrogare le forme che la vita potrà assumere. Sette artisti – Apparatus 22, Mit Borrás, Zach Blas, Heather Dewey-Hagborg, Shu Lea Cheang, Copper Frances Giloth e Michele Gabriele – indagano il corpo come terreno di proiezione speculativa, trasformazione tecnologica e conflitto simbolico. Le loro opere delineano, così, un orizzonte in cui il corpo non è più dato naturale ma dispositivo immaginativo e politico, costantemente riscritto dalle tecnologie, dalle estetiche e dalle narrazioni che lo attraversano. TOMORROWS è visitabile dal martedì alla domenica dalle ore 10 alle 18, con aperture speciali per ArtVerona nella serata inaugurale di venerdì 10 ottobre dalle 21 a mezzanotte e sabato 11 ottobre dalle 10 a mezzanotte.

VERONA EXPLORES DIVERSITY

WITH INTERREGNO

Art, bodies and technology to imagine tomorrow.

Ayear of art to explore society and its transformations with Interregno, starting with the question: what does normality mean? The new project promoted by Fondazione Cariverona with Urbs Picta, under the artistic direction of Jessica Bianchera, brings to Verona a an extensive programme across the city that, from autumn 2025 to summer 2026, includes three major exhibitions and a rich public programme of events, workshops and educational activities. At its heart is rethinking normalcy as something shaped by history, culture and society, and the inclusion of non-conforming bodies and visions where diversity becomes a fundamental value.

The first proposal is NESSUNO ESCLUSO. Linguaggi dell'opera e accesso al sensibile (NO ONE EXCLUDED. Languages of the artwork and access to sensitivity), an exhibition project by Fondazione Cariverona and UniCredit with Urbs Picta, hosted at the Fondazione Cariverona headquarters in Via Forti 3A and the UniCredit branch in Via Garibaldi 1. The exhibition, curated by artist Cesare Pietroiusti, presents over 50 works from the two institutional collections and the curator's collection until 30 August 2026. It is an invitation to recognise art as an accessible right, made possible only by the plurality of languages and perspectives that open up new ways of perceiving the world. Nessuno escluso can be visited free of charge by schools and groups upon

reservation only by writing to corsi@urbspicta.org, with a special opening to the public during ArtVerona 2025 from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 October.

The project continues with TOMORROWS. Folding, Flexing and Expanding, curated by Jessica Bianchera and Domenico Quaranta, scheduled at Palazzo del Capitanio from 10 October to 9 November 2025. The exhibition by Fondazione Cariverona with Urbs Picta, in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Verona and ArtVerona, invites us to conceive art as a critical laboratory for imagining what does not yet exist and questioning the forms that life may take. Seven artists – Apparatus 22, Mit Borrás, Zach Blas, Heather Dewey-Hagborg, Shu Lea Cheang, Copper Frances Giloth and Michele Gabriele – investigate the body as a terrain of speculative projection, technological transformation and symbolic conflict. Their works thus outline a horizon in which the body is no longer a constantly reshaped by technologies, aesthetics and narratives.. TOMORROWS is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with special openings for ArtVerona on the opening night of Friday 10 October from 9 p.m. to midnight and Saturday 11 October from 10 a.m. to midnight.

MUSICA PER VIVERE MEGLIO

Al Filarmonico di Verona i massimi esperti di Community Music Therapy.

Per due giorni Verona sarà capitale mondiale della Community Music Therapy. Il 3 e 4 ottobre 2025 il Teatro Filarmonico accoglierà “Risonanze: Comunità Sonore per vivere meglio”, convegno internazionale che per la prima volta in Italia riunisce i massimi esperti della Community Music Therapy, disciplina che esplora il potere del fare musica insieme come strumento di benessere, coesione e crescita personale.

L’evento, organizzato dal Conservatorio “Evaristo Felice Dall’Abaco” nasce nell’ambito del progetto PROBEN, finanziato dal Ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca, che studia e promuove il benessere psicofisico

di studenti e studentesse universitarie attraverso interventi basati sulla musica. Non si tratta soltanto di un appuntamento accademico: Verona si prepara ad accogliere un’esperienza che intreccia ricerca scientifica, performance dal vivo e momenti partecipativi, con l’obiettivo dichiarato di trasformare la musica in un volano di salute pubblica e di legame comunitario. Sul palco del Filarmonico saliranno protagonisti internazionali come Brynjulf Stige, Tia De Nora, Gary Ansdell ed Even Ruud, figure di riferimento che hanno contribuito a ridefinire il ruolo della musica nella società. Accanto a loro, studiosi e musicisti italiani come Luca Aversano

e Antonella Coppi dialogheranno con il pubblico, aprendo a un confronto senza precedenti. Il programma, moderato da Stefania Mattiello, alternerà lezioni magistrali a esperienze pratiche e culminerà in una grande performance collettiva guidata da Albert Hera, Stefano Baroni e Mauro Faccioli, seguita dal concerto dell’orchestra multiculturale Mosaika diretta da Marco Pasetto.

«La Community Music Therapy rappresenta oggi una delle aree più dinamiche della musicoterapia, perché coniuga l’intervento sonoro con un forte radicamento nel tessuto sociale e comunitario. – spiega Paolo Alberto Caneva, tra i massimi esperti italiani e responsabile scientifico del convegno. – La presenza a Verona dei maggiori esponenti mondiali segna un passaggio fondamentale per la disciplina e anticipa idealmente il 18° Congresso Mondiale di Musicoterapia che si terrà a Bologna nel 2026».

Non è un caso che sia proprio il Conservatorio veronese a farsi promotore di questo incontro: già diciannove anni fa, insieme al Conservatorio de L’Aquila, fu il primo in Italia ad avviare un percorso biennale sperimentale di musicoterapia, oggi riconosciuto come biennio ordinamentale.

Con “Risonanze” Verona si conferma quindi un laboratorio culturale e sociale, capace di trasformare la musica in esperienza condivisa e in strumento di cura. Un appuntamento che parla agli addetti ai lavori ma che vuole coinvolgere anche i cittadini, offrendo loro l’opportunità di sperimentare in prima persona la potenza rigenerativa del suono e della partecipazione collettiva.

L’evento sarà gratuito e aperto al pubblico su prenotazione.

MUSIC FOR A BETTER LIFE

The leading experts in Community Music Therapy at the Filarmonico in Verona.

For two days, Verona will be the world capital of Community Music Therapy. On 3 and 4 October 2025, the Teatro Filarmonico will host “Risonanze: Comunità Sonore per vivere meglio” (Resonances: Sound Communities for Better Living), an international conference that, for the first time in Italy, brings together leading experts in Community Music Therapy, a discipline that explores the power of making music together as a tool for well-being, cohesion and personal growth.

The event, organised by the “Evaristo Felice Dall'Abaco” Conservatory, is part of the PROBEN project, funded by the Ministry of University and Research, which studies and promotes the psychological and physical wellbeing of university students through music-based interventions.

This is not just an academic event: Verona is preparing to host an experience that combines scientific research, live performances and participatory moments, with the stated aim of a driving force for public health and community cohesion.

The Filarmonico stage will welcome international stars such as Brynjulf Stige, Tia De Nora, Gary Ansdell and Even Ruud, leading figures who have helped redefine the role of music in society. Alongside them, Italian scholars and musicians such as Luca Aversano and Antonella Coppi will engage with

the audience in an unprecedented dialogue.

The programme, moderated by Stefania Mattiello, will alternate lectures with practical experiences and will culminate in a large collective performance led by Albert Hera, Stefano Baroni and Mauro Faccioli, followed by a concert by the multicultural Mosaika orchestra conducted by Marco Pasetto.

'Community Music Therapy is one of the most dynamic areas of music therapy today because it combines sound intervention deeply rooted in the social and community fabric,' The presence in Verona of the world's leading exponents marks a fundamental step forward for the discipline and foreshadows the 18th World Congress of Music Therapy to be held in Bologna in 2026'.ù

It is no coincidence that the Verona Conservatory is promoting this event: nineteen years ago, together with the Conservatory of L'Aquila, it was the first in Italy launch a twoyear experimental music therapy program., now recognised as a standard two-year course.

With “Risonanze”, Verona confirms its status as a cultural and social laboratory, capable of transforming music into a shared experience and a tool for healing. An event that speaks to professionals but also aims to involve citizens, offering them the opportunity to experience first-hand the regenerative power of sound and collective participation. IL RISTORI ALZA IL SIPARIO SULLA NUOVA STAGIONE

Il Teatro Ristori di Verona è pronto a stupire ancora con una Stagione Artistica 2025/2026 sempre ricca, con oltre trenta appuntamenti che attraversano generi e linguaggi diversi. Da ottobre a maggio, il Ristori tornerà a essere un crocevia di jazz internazionale, danza contemporanea, musica barocca, incontri d’autore e le attese CeneSpettacolo che a dicembre trasformano la platea in un elegante salone delle feste.

Il cartellone prenderà il via il 15 ottobre con Sergio Cammariere, seguito dall’omaggio di Danilo Rea a Ryuichi Sakamoto. A dicembre il Ristori diventerà Jazz Club per tre domeniche consecutive, ospitando giovani talenti e grandi interpreti in un’atmosfera conviviale. Nel 2026 saliranno sul palco Richard Bona, Steve Gadd e il quintetto di Eddie Henderson in occasione dell’International Jazz Day, per concludere il 13 maggio con lo spettacolare Aaron Parks.

Le Serate d’Autore offriranno quattro incontri: Nicolò Govoni con il suo racconto di impegno civile, due appuntamenti con Paolo

Fresu in un viaggio nell’universo creativo di Miles Davis, un’intensa riscrittura delle Notti bianche di Dostoevskij e Domenico Iannacone con un incisivo teatro di inchiesta.

La danza proporrà cinque appuntamenti, due dei quali in prima nazionale. Il collettivo Dewey Dell reinterpreterà Sacre du Primptemps, mentre (LA)HORDE porterà in scena un lavoro visionario affiancato da Equilibrio Dinamico e dalla coreografa Jill Crovisier. In marzo il duo Abbondanza/Bertoni con La morte e la fanciulla, il Nuovo Balletto di Toscana con Il regno delle ombre firmato da Michele Di Stefano e il Ballet de l’Opéra Grand Avignon con Olympiade. Tutti gli spettacoli saranno preceduti da un racconto introduttivo.

Dal 3 al 29 marzo il Ristori Baroque Festival esplorerà “l’età degli estremi” con orchestre e interpreti di primo piano: Il Pomo d’Oro, l’Akademie für Alte Musik con L’Offerta Musicale, Mario Brunello ed Ettore Pagano nelle Suite di Bach, Lucie Horsch e Thomas Dunford con Conversazioni, fino al Concerto

Italiano con le Variations on Variations e alla chiusura dell’Ensemble Brezza.

Non mancheranno i progetti Educational guidati da Elisabetta Garilli, con titoli pensati per bambini e famiglie come Big Bang Bang, Helga e René nei giardini delle note e Trunkerumpampumpera. A dicembre le Cene-Spettacolo accompagneranno il pubblico verso il Natale con Ray Gelato, i The Heavenly Voices e l’ensemble vocale Alti & Bassi.

THE RISTORI RAISES THE CURTAIN ON THE NEW SEASON

Between music, dance and dinner shows.

Verona's Teatro Ristori is ready to amaze once again with a rich 2025/2026 artistic season, featuring over thirty events spanning different genres and forms of expression. From October to May, the Ristori will once again be a crossroads of international jazz, contemporary dance, baroque music, author meetings and the eagerly awaited Dinner-Shows, which in December transform the auditorium into an elegant ballroom. The programme will kick off on 15 October with Sergio Cammariere, followed by Danilo Rea's tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto. In December, the Ristori will become a Jazz Club for three consecutive Sundays, hosting young talents and great performers in a convivial atmosphere. In 2026, Richard Bona, Steve Gadd and Eddie Henderson's quintet will take to the stage on International Jazz Day, concluding on 13 May with the spectacular Aaron Parks.

Le Serate d'Autore will offer four events: Nicolò Govoni with his story of civic engagement, two

events with Paolo Fresu on a journey into the creative universe of Miles Davis, a powerful reimagining of Dostoevsky’s White Nights and Domenico Iannacone with a hard-hitting piece of documentary theatre. Dance will offer five events, two of which are national premieres. The Dewey Dell collective will reinterpret Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring), while (LA)HORDE will stage a visionary work alongside Equilibrio Dinamico and choreographer Jill Crovisier. In March, the Abbondanza/Bertoni duo will perform La morte e la fanciulla (Death and the Maiden), the Nuovo Balletto di Toscana will perform Il regno delle ombre (The Kingdom of Shadows) by Michele Di Stefano, and the Ballet de l'Opéra Grand Avignon will perform Olympiade. All performances will be preceded by an introductory talk.

From 3 to 29 March, the Ristori Baroque Festival will explore “the age of extremes” with leading orchestras and performers: Il Pomo d'Oro, the Akademie für Alte Musik with L'Offerta Musicale, Mario Brunello and Ettore Pagano in Bach's Suites, Lucie Horsch and Thomas Dunford with Conversations, followed by Concerto Italiano with Variations on Variations and the closing performance by Ensemble Brezza.

Ritornano le iconiche rassegne al Teatro Nuovo: Grande Teatro e Divertiamoci a Teatro.

Grande Teatro

La prima rassegna 2025-2026 a partire è Il Grande Teatro che per la sua 39° edizione non smette di offrire alla città spettacoli di respiro nazionale ed europeo che spaziano dai classici alla drammaturgia contemporanea. Si inizia il 4 novembre con Ritorno a casa di Harold Pinter con Massimo Popolizio dove nell’ambientazione di una casa di Londra hanno origine un misto di tensioni familiari. Dal 18 novembre si prosegue con Iliade. Il gioco degli Dei con Alessio Boni e Antonella Attili,

uno spettacolo sui miti antichi, la guerra e libertà di scelta.

Sempre sulla guerra e ancor più sul potere delle parole è Mein Kampf, spettacolo in scena dal 9 dicembre con Stefano Massini che analizza la prima stesura del libro di Adolf Hitler e pone l’interrogativo su come queste parole siano riuscite ad avere potere su intere masse.

Tutt’altra atmosfera si vive dal 6 gennaio 2026 con Sherlock Holmes – il Musical con la regia di Andrea Cecchi e Neri Marcorè nei panni dell’iconico detective britannico e dal 27 gennaio con Il Medico dei

maiali scritto e diretto da Davide Sacco e con Luca Bizzarri, spettacolo che sorprende con una vicenda del tutto inaspettata.

Grande attesa anche per Simone Cristicchi che dal 10 febbraio in Franciscus – Il Folle che parlava agli uccelli, porta uno spettacolo su San Francesco con canzoni, riflessioni e ricerca di armonia con il mondo.

Dal 24 febbraio ritorno alla comicità con Mirandolina da La Locandiera di Carlo Goldoni per la regia di Caitriona McLaughlin e dal 24 marzo con November di David Mamet, con Luca Barbareschi, una

satira sul sogno americano e i mezzi per raggiungerlo.

Divertiamoci a Teatro

Altra rassegna è Divertiamoci a Teatro, che giunge alla 27° edizione e si distingue per la sua comicità e riflessione. Ad iniziare sono gli spettacoli che richiamano gli anni d’oro di Hollywood: dall’11 novembre con Indovina chi viene a cena? di William Arthur Rose, con Cesare Bocci e Vittoria Belvedere, richiamo al film con Katharine Hepburn e Spencer Tracy; e dal 2 dicembre con Volevo essere Marlon Brando con Alessandro Haber e la regia di Giancarlo Nicoletti, rappresentazione che ripercorre la vita fuori dagli schemi dell’iconico attore.

Dal 16 dicembre Andavamo a Mille, di e con Gioele Dix, regista ed automobilista appassionato che dedica al tema del viaggio e alle gare di velocità tutto un altro significato. Mentre un’altra rappresentazione di famiglia arriva dal 20 gennaio con la commedia La ciliegina sulla torta di Diego Ruiz. Il calamaro gigante con Angela Finocchiaro e Bruno

Stori arriva invece dal 3 febbraio con un’avventura fatta di viaggi inaspettati e battaglie personali da affrontare. Dal 17 febbraio sempre di viaggio si parla con Le Fuggitive e la fuga dalle proprie vite di Margot e Claude interpretate da Paola Quattrini e Gaia De Laurentis. Infine marzo si chiude con due spettacoli: dal 3 con Rumori fuori scena, commedia inglese di Michael Frayn che racconta i momenti di vita di una compagnia teatrale e dal 17 con Le nostre donne di Eric Assous e con Luca Bizzarri, commedia spietata dove un gruppo di amici dovrà fare i conti con la propria vita.

Da ricordare anche gli spettacoli fuori abbonamento della rassegna: Anni 70 – Terrore e diritti il 26 novembre con Mario Calabresi e la regia di Bruno Fornasari dove si affronta un tema potente del nostro Paese. Poi Condominio Mon Amour il 14 gennaio di e con Giacomo Poretti e Daniela Cristofori, una commedia sulla difficoltà che vive oggi il mondo del lavoro. Come ogni anno Il Grande Teatro e Divertiamoci a Teatro tornano e arricchiscono il proprio pubblico di sogni, avventure e

ascolto. Dalla leggerezza ai temi più impegnati, un’occasione per fermarsi e riflettere su passato, presente e futuro. Un tempo prezioso, il tempo del teatro!

PRECIOUS TIME: TIME FOR THEATRE!

The iconic theatre seasons return to the Teatro Nuovo: Grande Teatro and Divertiamoci a Teatro.

Grande Teatro

The first festival of 2025-2026 to kick off is Il Grande Teatro, which, now in its 39th edition, continues to offer the city national and European shows ranging from classics to contemporary drama. It begins on 4 November with Harold Pinter's The Homecoming, starring Massimo Popolizio, in which a mixture of family tensions arise in the setting of a London home. On 18 November, the season continues with Iliade. Il gioco degli Dei (The Iliad: The Game of the Gods), starring Alessio Boni and Antonella Attili, a show about ancient myths, war and freedom of choice.

Also on the theme of war and, even more so, the power of words, Mein Kampf, a play staged from 9 December with Stefano

Massini, analyses the first draft of Adolf Hitler's book and questions how these words managed to gain power over entire masses.

A completely different atmosphere will be created from 6 January 2026 with Sherlock Holmes – il Musical, directed by Andrea Cecchi and starring Neri Marcorè as the iconic British detective, and from 27 January with Il Medico dei maiali, written and directed by Davide Sacco and starring Luca Bizzarri, a show that surprises with a completely unexpected storyline.

There is also great anticipation for Simone Cristicchi, who, from 10 February, in Franciscus –Il Folle che parlava agli uccelli (Franciscus – The Madman Who Spoke to Birds), brings a show about St Francis with songs, reflections and a search for harmony with the world.

From 24 February, comedy returns with Mirandolina from La Locandiera by Carlo Goldoni, directed by Caitriona McLaughlin, and from 24 March with November by David Mamet, starring Luca Barbareschi, a satire on the American dream and the means to achieve it.

Divertiamoci a Teatro

Another festival is Let's Have Fun at the Theatre, now in its

27th edition and distinguished by its comedy and reflection. It begins with shows that recall the golden years of Hollywood: on 11 November with Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? by William Arthur Rose, starring Cesare Bocci and Vittoria Belvedere, a reference to the film starring Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, and on 2 December with Volevo essere Marlon Brando (I wanted to be Marlon Brando) starring Alessandro Haber and directed by Giancarlo Nicoletti, a performance that traces the unconventional life of the iconic actor.

From 16 December, Andavamo a Mille (Going Full Speed), by and starring Gioele Dix, a director and passionate motorist who gives a whole new meaning to the theme of travel and speed racing. Another family show arrives on 20 January with Diego Ruiz's comedy La ciliegina sulla torta (The Cherry on the Cake).

Il calamaro gigante (The Giant Squid), starring Angela Finocchiaro and Bruno Stori, arrives on 3 February with an adventure made up of unexpected journeys and personal battles to be faced. From 17 February, the theme of travel continues with Le Fuggitive e la fuga dalle proprie vite (The Runaways and

the Escape from Their Lives) by Margot and Claude, starring Paola Quattrini and Gaia De Laurentis. Finally, March closes with two shows: from the 3rd with Rumori fuori scena (Noises Off), an English comedy by Michael Frayn that recounts moments in the life of a theatre company, and from the 17th with Le nostre donne (Our Women) by Eric Assous and starring Luca Bizzarri, a ruthless comedy in which a group of friends must come to terms with their lives. Also worth mentioning are the non-subscription shows in the programme: Anni 70 – Terrore e diritti (The 1970s – Terror and Rights) on 26 November with Mario Calabresi and directed by Bruno Fornasari, which tackles a powerful issue in our country. Then Condominio Mon Amour (Condominium Mon Amour) on 14 January by and with Giacomo Poretti and Daniela Cristofori, a comedy about the difficulties faced by the world of work today. As every year, Il Grande Teatro and Divertiamoci a Teatro return to enrich their audience with dreams, adventures and listening. From light-heartedness to more serious themes, it is an opportunity to stop and reflect on the past, present and future. A precious time, the time of theatre!

MICHIELIN30 TUTTO IN UNA NOTTE

L’appuntamento è il prossimo 4 ottobre quando Francesca Michielin celebrerà il suo compleanno in musica. A condividere il palco con la festeggiata ci saranno Fedez, Fiorella Mannoia, Gaia, Giorgio Poi, Irama, Max Gazzè, Carmen Consoli, Dardust, Emma,

Levante, Mecna, Tredici Pietro, Coma_Cose e Tommaso Paradiso.

Cosa significa per te esibirti in un luogo così storico come l’Arena di Verona?

«Ho un grande rispetto dell'Arena di Verona, quando lo fai devi onorarla: dopo

tutti questi anni ci sta, anche per ringraziare il pubblico per la vicinanza. Sarà un grande momento collettivo per tutte queste fasi della mia vita e della mia musica».

Che cosa accadrà il 4 ottobre durante Michielin30 - Tutto in una notte?

«Non sarà un concerto celebrativo su me stessa ma una grande festa in cui ho invitato tutti gli artisti con cui ho collaborato e che mi hanno ispirato. Canteremo, balleremo, piangeremo: è ormai metà della mia vita che vivo di musica, io che sono una perfezionista. Stavolta voglio proprio divertirmi».

L’artista vicentina ha aperto lo scorso 15 giugno lo show dei Duran Duran al Circo Massimo a Roma proprio lei che durante questi mesi ha ascoltato di continuo la celebre canzone Rio. Questa opportunità incredibile per Francesca ha evidenziato, ancora una volta, quanto il suo talento sia eclettico e capace di spaziare tra diversi

generi musicali. L’emozione più grande però è stata l’esibizione lo scorso 13 maggio proprio all’Arena di Verona insieme al Maestro Riccardo Cocciante.

«Ero emozionatissima, dicevo a chi era con me che se avessi superato quella prova allora avrei potuto fare di tutto. Vedere Notre Dame in tv è stata una folgorazione ed essere lì con il Maestro Cocciante è stato qualcosa di speciale».

Come ti stai preparando?

Mi sento molto bene e mi sto preparando con un piano ben dettagliato per l’Arena di Verona, mi sto allenando duramente e non vedo l’ora che arrivi il 4 ottobre.

Come è stata la tua adolescenza?

«La mia adolescenza è stata impegnativa, tra la scuola e l'inizio del mestiere di artista avevo la sensazione di perdermi qualcosa di quell’età. Questi trent'anni invece per me sono la nuova era, l’era della “cazzimma” e voglio divertirmi anche per quella Francesca diciottenne che non si è divertita prima. Questo è anche l’obiettivo di questa Arena di Verona. Per me la possibilità di suonare live è proprio un privilegio, perché credo che l’arte e la musica debbano essere dei sognatori, delle persone che hanno voglia di immergersi proprio nei sogni. Questa Arena di Verona è un sogno per tanti artisti e il fatto che tanti colleghi saranno con me e che tante persone verranno ad ascoltarci, per me è veramente un grande regalo. Vi prometto che non ve ne pentirete, perché sarà un momento molto magico, emozionante e super rock»

Adori Taylor Swift e sul palco dell’Ariston non solo hai diretto

Emma ma durante la serata delle cover nel 2022 avete omaggiato Britney Spears, cantando Baby One more Time. Ci saranno riferimenti a questi tuoi miti musicali?

«Adoro questo pop e queste regine incontrastate di questo genere musicale. Non posso “spoilerare” troppo ma sicuramente qualche cosa di incredibile faremo con Emma all’Arena di Verona»

Sei direttrice di orchestra e ti esibirai appunto nel celebre anfiteatro veronese, mai pensato di portare con te la bacchetta?

«Non esageriamo! È un luogo sacro per la lirica ed io sono già contenta così, sarebbe fantastico ma ora voglio concentrarmi su questa magica serata musicale

dove sarò insieme a tanti amici, tanti miei miti e tante persone che hanno creduto in me»

MICHIELIN30 - ALL IN ONE NIGHT

On 4 October, the Arena will host the show celebrating thirty years.

The date is set for 4 October, when Francesca Michielin will celebrate her birthday with music. Sharing the stage with the birthday girl will be Fedez, Fiorella Mannoia, Gaia, Giorgio Poi, Irama, Max Gazzè, Carmen Consoli, Dardust, Emma, Levante, Mecna, Tredici Pietro, Coma_ Cose and Tommaso Paradiso.

What does it mean for you to perform in such a historic venue as the Arena di Verona?

"I have great respect for the Arena di Verona, and when you perform there, you have to honour it: after all these years, it's only right, also to thank the audience for their support. It will be a great collective moment for all these stages of my life and my music".

What will happen on 4 October during Michielin30 - Tutto in una notte?

"It won't be a celebratory concert about myself but a big party to which I have invited all the artists I have collaborated with and who have inspired me. We will sing, dance and cry: I have been living for music for half my life now, and I am a perfectionist. This time, I really want to enjoy myself".

The Vicenza-born artist opened Duran Duran's show at the Circo Massimo in Rome on 15 June, having listened to their famous song Rio over and over again in recent months. This incredible opportunity for Francesca highlighted, once again, how eclectic her talent is and how she is capable of ranging across different musical genres. However, the greatest thrill was her performance on 13 May at the Arena di Verona with Maestro Riccardo Cocciante.

"I was so excited, I told those with me that if I passed that test, I could do anything. Seeing Notre Dame on TV was a revelation, and being there with Maestro Cocciante was something special".

How are you preparing?

"I feel very good and I am preparing with a detailed plan for the Arena di Verona. I am training hard and can't wait for 4 October to arrive.

What was your adolescence like?

"My adolescence was challenging. Between school and starting my

career as an artist, I felt like I was missing out on something at that age. These thirty years, on the other hand, are a new era for me, the era of “cazzimma” (grit), and I want to enjoy myself for that 18-year-old Francesca who didn't enjoy herself before. This is also the goal of this Arena di Verona concert. For me, the opportunity to play live is a real privilege, because I believe that art and music should be for dreamers, for people who want to immerse themselves in dreams. This Arena di Verona is a dream for many artists, and the fact that so many colleagues will be with me and that so many people will come to listen to us is truly a great gift for me. I promise you won't regret it, because it will be a very magical, exciting and super rock moment".

You adore Taylor Swift, and on the Ariston stage, not only did you conduct Emma, but during

the cover night in 2022, you paid tribute to Britney Spears by singing Baby One More Time. Will there be references to these musical icons of yours?

"I adore this pop music and these undisputed queens of this musical genre. I can't give too much away, but we will definitely do something incredible with Emma at the Arena di Verona".

You are an orchestra conductor and you will be performing in the famous Veronese amphitheatre. Have you ever thought of bringing your baton with you?

"Let's not exaggerate! It is a sacred place for opera and I am already happy as it is. It would be fantastic, but now I want to focus on this magical musical evening where I will be together with many friends, many of my idols and many people who have believed in me".

IL FESTIVAL DEDICATO AI GIOVANI REGISTI

Dal 23 al 26 ottobre a Verona il Believe Film Festival.

Si terrà da giovedì 23 a domenica 26 ottobre a Verona l’ottava edizione del Believe Film Festival, festival di cortometraggi dedicato alle opere dei giovani cineasti di età compresa tra i 14 e i 24 anni.

Il programma

Il programma dei quattro giorni è ricco di appuntamenti. Si parte giovedì 23 ottobre con il taglio del nastro al Teatro Ristori alla presenza della stampa e delle autorità, evento che darà inizio ufficialmente all’ottava edizione. Per la prima volta ogni categoria di concorso

avrà una propria serata di proiezione e premiazione sul palco del Teatro Ristori di Verona, con appuntamenti fissati giovedì e venerdì alle 20.45 e un gran finale sabato, a partire dalle 16.30, che si aprirà con il red carpet per poi proseguire con le proiezioni e la cerimonia conclusiva. Ai cortometraggi fuori concorso sarà invece dedicato il Teatro Santa Trinità, che ospiterà proiezioni venerdì pomeriggio e sabato mattina. Venerdì 24 si terrà la ormai tradizionale matinée delle scuole, appuntamento che si conferma anno dopo anno come uno degli eventi principali del festival, nel quale il giovane

Accanto alle proiezioni, non mancheranno i momenti di formazione che da sempre caratterizzano il Festival, con workshop e masterclass tenuti da giurati, ospiti ed esperti del settore, anche in collaborazione con partner istituzionali come ADCOM e Veneto Film Commission.

La giuria

Il presidente della giuria sarà il regista e sceneggiatore veronese Alberto Rizzi diplomato alla Scuola Luchino Visconti di Milano. Ha esordito con Si muore solo da vivi (2020), premiato per la regia al Festival del Cinema Italiano e distribuito da Fandango (oggi su Prime Video). Nel 2024 il suo secondo film Squali è stato selezionato ad Alice nella Città. Finalista al Premio Solinas e autore di corti premiati come Sleeping Wonder, è attivo anche in teatro, dove ha ottenuto diversi riconoscimenti come drammaturgo e regista.

Come partecipare

La partecipazione sarà ulteriormente favorita da nuove modalità di accesso: da ottobre il pubblico potrà richiedere tramite la BelieveApp voucher gratuiti validi come inviti fino a esaurimento posti, mentre studenti di università, accademie e scuole superiori avranno la possibilità di richiedere un accredito speciale per vivere da vicino l’intera esperienza del Festival e ampliare le occasioni di incontro e networking.

Partnership

Un'ultima grande novità che testimonia la crescita e la rilevanza dell’evento su scala nazionale è la partnership con ACEC (Associazione Cattolica Esercenti Cinema) che includerà una serie di azioni concrete volte alla promozione del

cinema giovanile. Grazie a questa collaborazione infatti i corti vincitori verranno proiettati nelle sale ACEC, alcuni titoli selezionati saranno diffusi nelle scuole e nei cinema del circuito, e gli associati ACEC, insieme a collaboratori e volontari, potranno già richiedere un accredito agevolato per partecipare al Festival e scoprire così in anteprima i giovani autori della prossima stagione.

THE FESTIVAL DEDICATED TO YOUNG FILMMAKERS

The Believe Film Festival will be held in Verona from 23 to 26 October.

The eighth edition of the Believe Film Festival, a short film festival dedicated to the works of young filmmakers aged between 14 and 24, will be held from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 October in Verona.

The programme

The four-day programme is packed with events. It kicks off on Thursday 23 October with the ribboncutting ceremony at the Teatro Ristori in the presence of the press and authorities, an event that will officially launch the eighth edition.

For the first time, each competition category will have its own screening and award ceremony evening on the stage of the Teatro Ristori in Verona, with events scheduled for Thursday and Friday at 8.45 p.m. and a grand finale on Saturday, starting at 4.30 p.m., which will open with the red carpet and then continue with the screenings and the closing ceremony. The Teatro Santa Trinità will be dedicated to short films outside the competition, hosting screenings on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

On Friday 24th, the now traditional school morning screening will be held, an event that year after year confirms itself as one of the main events of the festival, in which young audiences from Verona schools meet with directors, creating moments of dialogue and reflection on the themes dealt with in the short films. Alongside the screenings, there will be plenty of educational opportunities, which have always been a feature of the Festival, with workshops and masterclasses held by jury members, guests and industry experts, also in collaboration with institutional partners such as ADCOM and the Veneto Film Commission.

The jury

The president of the jury will be Veronese director

and screenwriter Alberto Rizzi, a graduate of the Scuola Luchino Visconti in Milan. He made his debut with Si muore solo da vivi (2020), which won the award for best director at the Italian Cinema Festival and was distributed by Fandango (now on Prime Video). In 2024, his second film Squali was selected for Alice nella Città. A finalist for the Solinas Award and author of award-winning short films such as Sleeping Wonder, he is also active in theatre, where he has won several awards as a playwright and director.

How to participate

Participation will be made easier through new access options: from October, the public will be able to request free vouchers valid as invitations via the BelieveApp, subject to availability, while university, academy and high school students will have the opportunity to request special accreditation to experience the entire Festival up close and expand their opportunities for meeting and networking.

Partnership

One last big piece of news that shows how much the event has grown and how important it is nationally is the partnership with ACEC (Associazione Cattolica Esercenti Cinema, Catholic Association of Cinema Operators), which will include a series of concrete actions aimed at promoting youth cinema. Thanks to this collaboration, the winning short films will be screened in ACEC cinemas, selected titles will be shown in schools and cinemas in the circuit, and ACEC members, together with collaborators and volunteers, will be able to apply for reduced-rate accreditation to participate in the Festival and discover the young filmmakers of the coming season in preview.

Al via a Verona un nuovo festival letterario che, dal 12 al 18 novembre, riporterà i libri in primo piano, tra la curiosità dei lettori, le spiegazioni degli autori nei caffè e ristoranti storici situati nel cuore della città scaligera. Questo è lo scopo principale della prima edizione di BookWalk, ideato dalla giornalista veronese Anna Martellato con il sostegno del Gruppo Food Democracy e del suo lungimirante imprenditore Michael Cortelletti.

Anna, come è nata l’idea?

«BookWalk – senza radici non si vola – nasce dalla esigenza di far uscire le storie dalle pagine dei libri, di camminare tra la gente, di respirare il profumo del caffè e del tintinnio dei bicchieri. C’era bisogno di far conoscere i libri al lettore con i tempi giusti, senza fretta, di non farli restare sugli scaffali».

Si svilupperà tra le vie storiche di Verona…

«Si tratta del primo Festival Letterario tra le vie cittadine, nelle piazze più belle della città, nei suoi locali più belli. I libri, come citato prima, vivranno negli storici caffè, nei ristoranti, nelle sale più belle

e persino tra le lettere che gli stessi lettori scriveranno durante il festival e che lasceranno in una cassetta speciale». Entrando nel programma di BookWalk, troviamo una serie di attività che vanno oltre i classici incontri con gli autori. Tra queste anche Il caffè

struggente ovvero sette reading originali scritti appositamente per ciascuna giornata del festival accompagnati dalla presenza di autori contemporanei. Un filo unico che collega passato e presente tramite narrazioni intense insieme ad un workshop sulla scrittura epistolare coordinato da Miryam Scandola, giornalista esperta nelle lettere d’autore. Altro momento da segnalare è Una stanza tutta per noi: due giornate dedicate ai romanzi d’esordio dove giovani talenti dialogano con scrittori affermati durante brunch nel cuore pulsante di Verona.

Tanti gli appuntamenti previsti.

«Sarà una settimana di incontri, brunch, reading struggenti e cene d’autore. L’idea è di far incontrare gli scrittori con i lettori senza filtri, alla stessa tavola con la stessa sete di storie».

Ogni giorno alle ore 17 a Casa Mazzanti caffè in piazza Erbe, verrà servito l’High Royal Tea: una pausa dolce accompagnata da scones (panini tipici britannici) e tramezzini simbolo del tè all’inglese. Questo momento conviviale ospiterà nomi noti della letteratura Royal come Antonio Caprarica, Paola Calvetti e Lavinia Orefici autrice di Royal Saga.

Anna Martellato, hai ideato un festival che si svilupperà in tre anni.

«BookWalk è visionario, radicato e libero e si svilupperà in tre anni, tre tappe che avranno un'unica direzione. Si accompagnerà chi legge in questa prima edizione intitolata Senza radici non si vola, proseguiremo nel 2026 con Vola solo chi osa farlo e nel 2027 Fà ciò che ami».

Domenica 15 novembre la stessa direttrice artistica del Festival insieme a Regina Stefanini, esperta degli oli essenziali, guideranno i partecipanti verso una forma

nuova di scrittura basata sull’attivazione dei sensi soprattutto dell’olfatto.

Non mancheranno i reading party, appuntamenti serali dalle ore 21:30 alle 23 a Casa Mazzanti dove ciascun partecipante legge autonomamente senza discussioni obbligate o presentazioni formali.

L’atmosfera intima prevede luci soffuse, musica discreta, drink, divani comodi: tutto studiato perché ognuno possa godersi quel tempo lontano dal caos quotidiano.

Ed infine le Cene d’autore. In alcuni locali selezionati del centro cittadino, gli scrittori incontreranno piccole platee in intimità attorno a tavole apparecchiate. Sarà possibile ascoltare racconti dietro le quinte delle opere mentre si gustano portate preparate appositamente. The first edition will take place from 12 to 18 November.

Anew literary festival is set to kick off in Verona from 12 to 18 November, bringing books back into the spotlight, amid the curiosity of readers and explanations from authors in historic cafés and restaurants located in the heart of the city. This is the main aim of the first edition of BookWalk, conceived by Veronese journalist Anna Martellato with the support of the Food Democracy Group and its forward-thinking entrepreneur Michael Cortelletti.

Anna, how did the idea come about?

“BookWalk – senza radici non si vola (You can’t fly without roots) – was born from the need to bring stories out of the pages of books, to walk among people, to breathe in the aroma of coffee and the clinking of glasses. There was a need to introduce books to readers at the right time, without rushing, so that they would not remain on the shelves”.

It will take place in the historic streets of Verona...

‘This is the first Literary Festival to be held in the city streets, in the most beautiful squares and venues. As mentioned earlier, the books will live in historic cafés, restaurants, the most beautiful halls and even in the letters that readers themselves will write during the festival and leave in a special box.

The BookWalk programme includes a series of activities that go beyond the classic meetings with authors. These include Il caffè struggente (The Poignant Coffee), seven original readings

written specifically for each day of the festival, accompanied by contemporary authors. A unique thread connects the past and the present through intense narratives, together with a workshop on letter writing coordinated by Miryam Scandola, a journalist specialising in authors' letters. Another highlight is Una stanza tutta per noi (A Room of Our Own): two days dedicated to debut novels, where young talents engage in dialogue with established writers over brunch in the heart of Verona.

There are many events planned.

“It will be a week of meetings, brunches, poignant readings and dinners with authors. The idea is to bring writers and readers together without filters, at the same table with the same thirst for stories”. Every day at 5 p.m. at Casa Mazzanti caffè in Piazza Erbe, High Royal Tea will be served: a sweet break accompanied by scones (typical British pastries) and tramezzini, the symbol of English tea. This convivial moment will host well-known names in Royal literature such as Antonio Caprarica, Paola Calvetti and Lavinia Orefici, author of Royal Saga.

Anna Martellato, you have created a festival that will unfold over three years.

‘BookWalk is visionary, rooted and free, and will unfold over three years, three stages that will have a single direction. We will accompany readers in this first edition entitled Senza radici non si vola (You can't fly without roots), continuing in 2026 with Vola solo chi osa farlo (Only those who dare can fly) and in 2027 with Fà ciò che ami (Do what you love)’.

On Sunday 15 November, the artistic director of the Festival herself, together with Regina Stefanini, an expert in essential oils, will guide participants towards a new form of writing based on the activation of the senses, especially the sense of smell.

There will also be reading sessions, evening events from 9.30pm to 11pm at Casa Mazzanti, where each participant reads independently without any obligatory discussions or formal presentations. The intimate atmosphere will feature soft lighting, discreet music, drinks, and comfortable sofas: everything designed so that everyone can enjoy this time away from the chaos of everyday life.

And finally, the Cene d'autore (Author's Dinners). In selected venues in the city centre, writers will meet small audiences in an intimate setting around set tables. It will be possible to listen to behind-the-scenes stories about the works while enjoying specially prepared dishes. Guests include Wanda Marasco, known for Di spalle a questo mondo (With My Back to This World), Cristina Caboni, and David Blixt, author of Il Cavaliere della Profezia di Dante (The Knight of Dante's Prophecy).

Questi i numeri che preannunciano la 127ª edizione da record, in programma dal 6 al 9 novembre a Verona. Al centro della scena, come sempre, il prestigioso Longines FEI Jumping World Cup, appuntamento imperdibile del calendario internazionale che porterà a Verona i più importanti cavalieri e cavalli del mondo, insieme ad altri eventi prestigiosi per il settore equestre, dal Gran Premio Fieracavalli, alle finali FISE e agli appuntamenti dell’allevamento d’eccellenza.

L’anima dell’evento si terrà al padiglione Western completamente rinnovato, che rende omaggio allo spirito libero della tradizione americana tra scenari naturali, morfologie di razze, adrenalina sportiva ed eventi ad alto coinvolgimento. There will be twelve open pavilions and six exhibition areas dedicated to the sector: from technical products to clothing, veterinary services and stable equipment and services, with an offering designed to appeal to both professionals and enthusiasts in the sector. As always, the November 2025 edition will host evening shows, exhibitions dedicated to Italian and international horse breeds, educational activities and training projects focused on horse training and welfare. L’intervista a Stefano Quaglia

su dispersione e fallimento scolastico.

Novembre è il mese dell'orientamento per la scuola e per il mondo del lavoro. Un momento importante in cui studenti e famiglie iniziano ad interrogarsi sulla scelta della scuola o dell’università per l’anno successivo. Per sollecitare questa riflessione a Verona si svolgono da decenni due fiere che sono una vera occasione per le famiglie e gli studenti perché attraverso queste esperienze si possono fare un'idea delle opportunità che il mondo della scuola e il mondo del lavoro offrono.

Ma in che cosa consiste veramente l’orientamento e perché ha senso nella società di oggi? Lo abbiamo chiesto a un esperto di scuola e di orientamento, Stefano Quaglia, già professore, dirigente scolastico e provveditore dell’Ufficio scolastico provinciale di Verona.

Quando è nato il concetto di orientamento?

L’orientamento non è una cosa recente. Io ho cominciato a occuparmene già nel 1985. In quegli anni l’orientamento si

configurava come presentazione delle caratteristiche del mondo esterno alla scuola, attraverso il contatto con il mondo dell’impresa. Non fu un inizio facile. Poi nacque il COSP, un’associazione che risponde alle esigenze di orientamento anche con un grande impegno degli industriali, e l’idea dell’orientamento prese piede.

Perché fare orientamento?

Negli anni abbiamo capito che l’elemento fondamentale per fronteggiare dispersione e fallimento è proprio l’orientamento. Consiste nell’aiutare i ragazzi a comprendere le proprie caratteristiche, i propri interessi e passioni, così da scegliere percorsi adeguati. Il problema più evidente è lo scollamento tra attitudini reali dei ragazzi e aspettative delle famiglie. Non si può pretendere di ricavare un ingegnere da chi non sopporta la matematica, o un interprete da chi a malapena parla l’italiano.

Quali altre criticità esistono?

Un altro nodo è la gerarchia di valori ancora presente: le attività manuali sono viste come inferiori rispetto ai licei. Oggi ci sono circa venti tipologie di liceo, contro cui tecnici e professionali faticano a competere. Eppure, sono proprio questi ultimi che spesso offrono più sbocchi lavorativi, specie in informatica, logistica e meccanica. Il problema è la valutazione sociale del percorso scolastico e il sistema a piramide: licei in alto, tecnici e professionali in basso. Servirebbe invece un orientamento radiale, che valorizzi tutti i percorsi con pari dignità.

Cosa offre la formazione tecnica in Italia?

Gli istituti tecnici italiani sono tra i migliori al mondo, ma non vengono valorizzati. L'altro errore è quello di pensare che sia necessaria l'università per lavori ad alta retribuzione e di alta precisione quando abbiamo gli ITS, gli istituti tecnici superiori chiamati ultimamente ITS Academy. In Italia dovremmo riuscire a ridare vigore agli istituti tecnici perché senza queste scuole il Paese non ha più i tecnici operativi, non ha più i quadri, che sono quelli che fanno funzionare le macchine.

Da quanti elementi è

composto l’orientamento?

Per prima cosa abbiamo l'orientamento informativo senza il quale non si può essere consapevoli; perché bisogna sapere ad esempio il piano didattico di una scuola, quali sono le materie che si fanno e quante ore settimanali sono previste. L’orientamento formativo invece consiste nel domandarsi quali sono le proprie aspirazioni e desideri per il futuro, le attività preferite: ad esempio, se mi piace di più stare in laboratorio o sui libri. In aggiunta, c'è l'orientamento operativo - far provare ai ragazzi magari in anticipo quello che potrebbe essere il percorso scolastico – e il delicato riorientamento, che aiuta uno studente a ripensare al proprio percorso scolastico.

Quale consiglio darebbe alle famiglie?

Un consiglio per le famiglie è sicuramente di informarsi bene, di farsi aiutare dai professori e di riflettere bene, guardando più che i consigli orientativi, le pagelle finali. Adesso abbiamo la valutazione delle competenze che ci aiuta sicuramente nel valutare quali sono le inclinazioni e le passioni dei ragazzi. L’orientamento non è un problema individuale, ma familiare e sociale.

Interview with Stefano Quaglia on school dropouts and failure.

November is career guidance month for schools and the world of work. It is an important time when students and families begin to think about choosing a school or university for the following year. To encourage this reflection, two fairs have been held in Verona for decades, providing a real opportunity for families and students to get an idea of the opportunities offered by the world of education and work. But what does guidance really consist of and why does it make sense in today's society? We asked Stefano Quaglia, an expert in education and guidance, former professor, school principal, and superintendent of the Verona Provincial Education Office.

When did the concept of guidance originate?

Guidance is not a recent development. I started working on it back in 1985. In those years, career guidance took the form of presenting the characteristics of the world outside school through contact with the business world. It was not an easy start. Then COSP was founded, an association that responds to career guidance needs with a great deal of commitment

from industrialists, and the idea of career guidance took hold.

Why career guidance?

Over the years, we have realized that the key to tackling dropout rates and failure is guidance. This involves helping young people understand their own characteristics, interests, and passions, so that they can choose the right path for them. The most obvious problem is the disconnect between young people's actual aptitudes and their families' expectations. You cannot expect to turn someone who cannot stand mathematics into an engineer, or someone who barely speaks Italian into an interpreter.

What other critical issues exist?

Another issue is the hierarchy of values that still exists: manual activities are seen as inferior to high school education. Today, there are about twenty types of high schools, against which technical and vocational schools struggle to compete. Yet it is precisely the latter that often offer more job opportunities, especially in IT,

logistics, and mechanics. The problem is the social evaluation of the educational path and the pyramid system: high schools at the top, technical and vocational schools at the bottom. What is needed instead is a radial orientation that values all paths with equal dignity.

What does technical education offer in Italy?

Italian technical institutes are among the best in the world, but they are not valued. The other mistake is to think that university is necessary for high-paying, highprecision jobs when we have ITS, the higher technical institutes recently renamed ITS Academy. In Italy, we should be able to revitalize technical institutes because without these schools, the country no longer has operational technicians or managers, who are the ones who make the machines work.

How many elements does guidance consist of?

First of all, we have informational guidance, without which we cannot be aware; because we need to know, for example, a school's curriculum,

what subjects are taught, and how many hours per week are scheduled. Educational guidance, on the other hand, consists of asking yourself what your aspirations and desires are for the future, what your favorite activities are: for example, whether you prefer to be in the laboratory or with your books. In addition, there is operational guidance—letting young people try out what their educational path might be in advance— and the delicate reorientation, which helps students rethink their educational path.

What advice would you give to families?

One piece of advice for families is definitely to get well informed, seek help from teachers, and think carefully, looking beyond guidance advice and focusing on final report cards. We now have skills assessments, which certainly help us evaluate children's inclinations and passions. Guidance is not an individual issue, but a family and social one.

The countdown to the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics has begun, and Verona is preparing to play a leading role. Il prossimo 16 novembre Verona si trasformerà in una grande festa del running con la Verona Run Marathon, uno degli appuntamenti più attesi del calendario podistico nazionale. Questa manifestazione sportiva unisce la passione per la corsa con la bellezza senza tempo di una città d’arte, regalando a tutti i partecipanti un’esperienza unica tra sport, cultura e natura.

La gara offre tre distanze diverse, pensate per coinvolgere un pubblico molto ampio. La 10 km Family Run è l’ideale per chi vuole vivere una giornata all’insegna del divertimento, in compagnia di amici e familiari, senza la pressione di dover gareggiare al massimo. Per chi invece desidera una sfida più impegnativa ma accessibile, la mezza maratona da 21 km rappresenta il giusto compromesso, un percorso capace di unire allenamento e passione. Infine, la maratona da 42 km, la regina delle competizioni

podistiche, è pensata per i runner più tenaci, che vogliono mettersi alla prova in una corsa che attraversa luoghi suggestivi e vari paesaggi.

La partenza della gara è fissata a Piazzale Olimpia, proprio accanto allo stadio Bentegodi, uno dei luoghi simbolo dello sport cittadino. Da qui, il percorso si snoda attraverso campagne rigogliose, quartieri popolari, e lungo le rive del fiume Adige, regalando ai runner scorci davvero unici sia della città che della natura circostante. Chi parteciperà alla mezza maratona terminerà la propria corsa in Piazza Brà, con l’Arena di Verona che si staglia maestosa sullo sfondo, rendendo il traguardo ancora più emozionante. I maratoneti invece proseguiranno oltre, fino al comune di San Martino Buon Albergo, per poi fare ritorno verso il cuore pulsante della città, attraversando luoghi ricchi di storia e atmosfera.

LA ZUCCA PROTAGONISTA DELL’AUTUNNO ALLA FLOVER FARM

Tonde, lunghe, dolci, decorative, da cucinare o da colorare. Alla Flover Farm di Bussolengo la zucca diventa regina indiscussa dell’autunno. Dal 27 settembre al 2 novembre, torna il suggestivo Campo delle Zucche, un’esperienza immersiva tra natura, creatività e divertimento per tutta la famiglia, che si sviluppa su un’area completamente rinnovata di 20mila metri quadrati.

L’edizione 2025 porterà con sé importanti novità: oltre 30 varietà di zucche ornamentali, nuovi laboratori creativi, giochi all’aria aperta e uno spettacolo inedito che vedrà protagonisti quattro simpatici personaggi – Lady Autumnia, Pannocchia, Fienidoro e Zuccarina – pronti ad accompagnare grandi e piccini in un vero e proprio viaggio nel cuore dell’autunno.

The 2025 edition will bring with it some important new features: over 30 varieties of ornamental pumpkins, new creative workshops, outdoor games and

a brand new show starring four charming charactersLady Autumnia, Pannocchia, Fienidoro and Zuccarina - ready to accompany young and old alike on a real journey into the heart of autumn.

'With the Pumpkin Field, we have created an ideal space for families and children, but also for anyone who appreciates the seasonality of the seasonal produce,' explains Silvano Girelli, CEO of Flover. 'A large field where you can immerse yourself in the colours and flavours of autumn, with workshops and gastronomic moments to discover one of the season’s most beloved vegetables.

L’AUTUNNO IN TAVOLA

L’autunno è arrivato e con esso anche i suoi sapori e profumi unici.

Tra castagne appena raccolte, vini novelli, risotti fumanti e piatti della cucina contadina a base di polenta, ogni fine settimana diventa un invito a godersi il territorio, con le numerose feste e sagre che celebrano i prodotti della tradizione autunnale veronese.

Vino e uva

L’uva e il suo prodotto principe che è il vino sono dei veri e propri simboli della tradizione veronese. Ovunque si vada si incontrano vigneti, che sono diventati ormai una costante nel paesaggio collinare e di pianura del territorio. Nella stagione autunnale, poi, si celebrano i frutti del lavoro in vigna, terminata la vendemmia, e i primi prodotti novelli.

Per celebrare questo importante frutto, ogni anno si tiene a Bardolino la Festa dell’Uva e del Vino, frequentata dagli amanti del buon vino. Quest’anno si terrà dal 2 al 6 ottobre e regalerà cinque giorni tra sapori, profumi e panorami

mozzafiato sul Lago di Garda per celebrare il vino simbolo di questo territorio: il Bardolino. Le cantine locali proporranno degustazioni del celebre rosso e delle sue varianti, accompagnate da piatti tipici, street food e specialità della cucina veronese.

Zucca

Condividendone le nuance arancioni, la zucca è un alimento simbolo dell’autunno. Caratterizzata da un sapore dolce e vellutato, oltre che buonissima è anche preziosa per la salute perché ricca di nutrienti come beta-carotene, vitamine A, C e B, e minerali come fosforo e potassio. È un alimento ipocalorico, diuretico e facilmente digeribile, ma anche molto versatile in cucina, adatta sia a piatti salati che dolci; inoltre i suoi semi sono un prezioso ingrediente aggiuntivo. Dal 24 al 26 ottobre e dal 31 ottobre al 2 novembre, Villafranca di Verona si trasforma in un mondo incantato con Zuccaland: il Festival d’autunno dedicato a grandi e piccini. Tra zucche decorate, colori autunnali, buon cibo e tanto divertimento si celebrerà la magia

dell’autunno. Non mancheranno gli stand gastronomici, aperti per deliziare i visitatori con piatti di stagione, dolci tipici e specialità a base di zucca.

Polenta

Nella tradizione culinaria di Verona e del Veneto, la polenta è molto più di un semplice alimento, bensì è profondamente radicata nella cultura e nella tradizione locale.

La polenta, prodotto a base di farina di mais, ha una storia antica a Verona: è diventata popolare dopo l'introduzione del mais in Italia nel XVI secolo e inizialmente era considerata cibo per le classi più povere, ma col tempo è diventata un alimento fondamentale per tutti. È un piatto che si prepara molto spesso nei mesi freddi, in molte occasioni familiari e festività, riflettendo l'importanza della cucina casalinga nella cultura veronese.

Dal 16 ottobre al 9 novembre, Vigasio torna a essere la capitale del gusto con la tradizionale Fiera della polenta. Protagonista assoluta sarà, naturalmente, la polenta: preparata in mille varianti e accompagnata da sughi, carni, formaggi e specialità locali. Un’occasione perfetta per riscoprire i sapori della tradizione, vivere la convivialità delle feste popolari e trascorrere una serata in allegria.

Riso Vialone Nano Veronese IGP

Coltivato in una zona circoscritta della pianura veronese, è stato il primo in Europa ad ottenere il prestigioso marchio d’Indicazione Geografica Protetta (1996). Stiamo parlando del riso Vialone Nano, prodotto da disciplinare solo in 24 Comuni scaligeri.

Il chicco del Riso Vialone Nano Veronese IGP è bianco, ha dimensioni medie, forma tonda e semilunga, con dente pronunciato e testa tozza. Grazie a queste sue caratteristiche che lo rendono adatto ad assorbire i sapori dei condimenti e alla tenuta in cottura, questa varietà è nota ai buongustai come il re dei risi da risotto con ricette a base di carne, pesce e verdure.

Da oltre mezzo secolo si svolge ad Isola della Scala, il Comune capofila della produzione di questo prodotto, la tradizionale Fiera del Riso. Quest’anno si svolgerà fino al 12 ottobre e vedrà uno dei piatti della cucina italiana più apprezzati al mondo, preparato da Chef provenienti dall’estero e dall’Italia e Mastri Risottari che cucinano il risotto in Fiera con la stessa cura e tradizione con le quali lo preparano il resto dell’anno a casa per la propria famiglia.

With freshly harvested chestnuts, new wines, steaming risottos and traditional peasant dishes based on polenta, every weekend becomes an invitation to enjoy the local area, with numerous festivals and fairs celebrating the traditional autumn produce of Verona.

Wine and grapes

Grapes and their main product, wine, are true symbols of Veronese tradition. Wherever you go, you will find vineyards, which have become a constant feature of the hilly and flat landscape of the area. To celebrate this important fruit, the Grape and Wine Festival is held every year in Bardolino, attended by lovers of good wine. This year it will be held from 2 to 6 October.

Pumpkin

With its orange hues, pumpkin is a symbolic food of autumn. Characterised by a sweet and velvety flavour, it is not only delicious but also valuable for health because it is rich in nutrients such as beta-carotene, vitamins A, C and B, and minerals such as phosphorus and potassium. From 24 to 26 October and from 31 October to 2 November, Villafranca di Verona is transformed into an enchanted world with Zuccaland.

Polenta

In the culinary tradition of Verona and the Veneto region, polenta is much more than just a food; it is deeply rooted in local culture and tradition.

Polenta, a product made from cornmeal, has an ancient history in Verona: it became popular after the introduction of corn in Italy in the 16th century and was initially considered food for the poorer classes, but over time it became a staple food for everyone. From 16 October to 9 November, Vigasio returns to being the capital of taste with the traditional Polenta Fair.

Vialone Nano Veronese IGP rice

Grown in a limited area of the Veronese plain, it was the first in Europe to obtain the prestigious Protected Geographical Indication mark (1996). We are talking about Vialone Nano rice, produced according to specific regulations in only 24 municipalities in the province of Verona. For over half a century, the traditional Rice Fair has been held in Isola della Scala, the leading municipality in the production of this product. This year, it will run until 12 October and will feature one of the most popular Italian dishes in the world.

passa da una concezione diversa di galleria: la galleria ha una funzione espositiva invece per atelier si intende un laboratorio dove si crea. La cosa interessante è avere un atelier e una parte espositiva in modo che l’artista possa dipingere e abbia lo spazio per lavorare e creare, ma allo stesso tempo uno spazio accogliente per chi viene a vedere. Uno spazio creativo che stimola e incide sullo stesso lavoro dell’artista –afferma Andrea, proseguendo – la cosa interessante è

poter vedere l’artista in opera, questa è una parte fondamentale, vedere il processo creativo, conoscere l’artista è sicuramente interessante».

Spazio Meucci diviene un luogo dove aumentare il proprio creativo, l’artista ha modo non solo di esporre, ma anche mostrare come lavora. Uno spazio che non si limita e prevede anche workshop con professionisti dal forte respiro internazionale. «Il lavoro di un artista sarà temporaneamente esposto, con relativo allestimento ed evento per presentarlo» afferma Matteo.

Grazie alla presenza di docenti delle Accademie e professionisti del settore, che contribuiscono alla crescita dell’atelier e a far conoscere nuovi talenti, Spazio Meucci diviene un sostegno: «il nostro intento è dare una mano agli artisti ad emergere con l’obiettivo magari di farli entrare in qualche galleria d’arte. Vogliamo andare a colmare quel buco che c’è tra chi sta crescendo e le gallerie creando collaborazione con le

stesse». Spazio Meucci diviene quindi il tramite con cui artista e galleria entrano in contatto.

Matteo Righetti is a creative mind, Andrea Padovani an artist, and their shared vision gave rise to the idea of Spazio Meucci, a multifunctional creative environment where artists, professionals, people, events and local synergy converge in a single, highly organic space. An environment designed to bring “experience, opportunity and authentic sharing”.

Spazio Meucci becomes a place of constant artistic renewal, a real atelier where the works of emerging artists are exhibited, also showing the artistic process behind them because, as Matteo and Andrea explain, “social media often gives us the opportunity to see a work of art

but not to experience it, and we lose sight of the artist's creative process”.

With Spazio Meucci, the idea changes, giving artists the opportunity to exhibit their work in a dedicated space where they can create and forge relationships.

'The concept of the studio differs from that of a gallery: a gallery has an exhibition function, whereas a studio is a workshop where creation takes place. The interesting thing is to have a studio and an exhibition area so that the artist can paint and has space to work and create, but at the same time a welcoming space for those who come to see. A creative space that stimulates and influences the artist's work itself,‘ says Andrea, continuing, ’the interesting thing is being able to see the artist at work, this is a fundamental part, seeing the creative process, getting to know the artist is definitely interesting." .

Spazio Meucci becomes a place where artists can develop their creativity, not only exhibiting their work but also showing how they work and meeting people. We want to bridge the gap between those who are growing and the galleries by creating collaborations with them.’ Spazio Meucci thus becomes the intermediary through which artists and galleries come into contact.

100 "Scuole a cielo" aperte nel veronese.

Si terrà domenica

12 ottobre 2025 la tradizionale Giornata delle Fattorie Didattiche Aperte in Veneto, un evento organizzato dalla Regione in collaborazione con le Organizzazioni Professionali agricole e il Coordinamento GAL per promuovere la cultura rurale e l'educazione ambientale,

aprendo le aziende agricole al pubblico. Parliamo di una realtà in continua evoluzione che, nel suo insieme, è capace di offrire non solo una sorta di scuola a cielo aperto, dove bambini e ragazzi possono svolgere percorsi didattici su diverse tematiche, dall'educazione alimentare a quella ambientale e civica, ma anche visitare e scoprire tanti

luoghi belli, organizzati e in sicurezza, dove l'agricoltore o operatore didattico si prende cura di loro offrendo attività ludicoeducative all'aperto, un modo per arricchirsi di esperienze ed emozioni. L’elenco delle Fattorie didattiche della Regione Veneto, aggiornato a maggio, vanta 472 fattorie didattiche su tutto il territorio regionale di cui un

centinaio circa nella provincia di Verona. Ma entriamo un po’ di più in questo mondo e chiediamoci cosa è una Fattoria didattica? Ognuno di noi ha la sua percezione ma la definizione di Fattoria didattica secondo la normativa regionale è un’azienda agricola, che oltre all’attività agricola principale svolge attività di accoglienza con valenza ludica, didattica ed educativa. Al suo interno troviamo un agricoltore che ha frequentato un percorso di formazione specialistico che ogni anno si aggiorna, ed è proprio lui che ospita e accoglie i visitatori. I percorsi didattici organizzati vengono progettati e realizzati in stretto rapporto con l’orientamento produttivo dell’azienda, con le valenze ambientali del territorio e con le risorse professionali e umane dell’agricoltore e della sua famiglia. I visitatori delle Fattorie didattiche possono essere le scuole, di ogni ordine e grado, dai bambini delle materne fino agli studenti dell’università, a cui vengono offerte occasioni di apprendimento, crescita ed autonomia attraverso laboratori ed esperienze pratiche legate all’imparar facendo sulle tematiche dell’educazione

alimentare e dell’educazione ambientale oltre che nei nuovi ambiti educativi, come l’attività motoria e l’educazione civica, ma non solo. Infatti possono essere anche gruppi di bambini o ragazzi che dedicano il loro tempo extrascolastico a laboratori tematici, o comunque a momenti ricreativi da trascorrere insieme. Lo stesso vale per gli adulti, per le famiglie per i turisti o per attività di team building sempre più in voga per promuovere la socializzazione tra dipendenti, migliorare la comunicazione e rafforzare lo spirito di squadra. Ogni Fattoria didattica è quindi una realtà unica, con una propria identità legata alle coltivazioni

e/o agli allevamenti a cui si dedica, al territorio, fisico, storico e culturale in cui si trova, e al proprio percorso formativo. 100 “open-air schools” in the Verona area.

The traditional Open Educational Farms Day in Veneto will be held on Sunday 12 October 2025. The event is organised by the Region in collaboration with professional agricultural organisations and the GAL Coordination to promote rural culture and environmental education by opening farms to the public. We are talking about a constantly evolving reality which, as a whole, is capable of offering not only a sort of open-air school, where children and young people can take part in educational courses on various topics, from food education to environmental and

civic education, but also visit and discover many beautiful, wellorganised and safe places, where farmers or educational operators take care of them by offering fun and educational outdoor activities, a way to enrich themselves with experiences and emotions. The list of educational farms in the Veneto Region, updated in May, boasts 472 educational farms throughout the region, including about a hundred in the province of Verona. But let's delve a little deeper into this world and ask ourselves what an educational farm is. We all have our own perception, but the definition of an educational farm according to regional legislation is a farm that, in addition to its main agricultural activity, also offers recreational, educational and instructional activities.

The farm is run by a farmer

who has attended a specialist training course, which is updated every year, and it is he who hosts and welcomes visitors. The educational programmes organised are designed and implemented in close connection with the farm's production orientation, the environmental values of the area and the professional and human resources of the farmer and his family. Visitors to educational farms can be schools of all levels, from nursery school children to university students, who are offered opportunities for learning, growth and autonomy through workshops and practical experiences linked to learning by doing on the topics of food education and environmental education, as well as in new educational areas, such as physical activity and civic education, but not only. Each educational farm is therefore unique, with its own identity linked to the crops and/ or livestock it raises, the physical, historical and cultural territory in which it is located, and its own educational programme. However, all educational farms in the Veneto Region are united by their adherence to the Quality Charter, which reassures visitors in terms of the safety and hygiene requirements of the facilities, the training and updating of operators, and the capacity for hospitality and educational planning. L’ESPERTO RISPONDE

Da qui il principio – già in uso in alcune città anche italiane ma che al momento non riguarda Verona – di mettere mano alla tariffazione dei rifiuti conteggiando la quantità di indifferenziato prodotto da ciascun utente.

Residual dry waste, which is minimal when separate collection is carried out correctly, consists of materials that cannot be recycled: this is what ends up in landfill and, in addition to damaging the environment, represents an economic cost of disposal. Hence the principle – already in use in some cities, including some in Italy, but not currently in Verona – of adjusting waste charges by calculating the amount of unsorted waste produced by each user.

Igrandi cambiamenti sulle modalità della raccolta differenziata in città coinvolgono tutti, cittadine e cittadini, dai più piccoli ai più grandi. È infatti in atto, come abbiamo detto spesso su queste pagine, un grande cambiamento in primis culturale. E siccome le basi educative si acquisiscono da bambini, quale luogo migliore per educare e coinvolgere bambine e bambini, ragazze e ragazzi, se non a scuola?

Alle Giornate della Didattica 2025 - Festival dell'educazione di settembre, organizzate dal Comune di Verona, l’Ufficio Scuole ed Educazione Ambientale di AMIA ha presentato tutti i progetti e i percorsi che uniscono conoscenza, esperienza diretta e creatività. «Tutte le proposte per le scuole rientrano nel progetto triennale Ambiente che passione – spiega Maria Cristina Buniotto, responsabile dell’ufficio – perché è proprio tramite le passioni personali e le attitudini, dalla fotografia alla lettura, dal teatro ai viaggi, che si vogliono coinvolgere i più giovani. Tutte le scuole, di ogni ordine e grado, dalla scuola dell’infanzia quindi a quella secondaria di secondo grado, si mettono in gioco attraverso le attività proposte». Si va dall’esperienza fotografica per educare alla sostenibilità le scuole dell’infanzia con “L’ombra delle cose”, a un’esperienza tra rifiuti, fotografia e immaginazione con “La città che vorrei” per le scuole primarie, fino alla visita guidata “Ecocittadino” al Centro di Raccolta AMIA di Verona per conoscere da vicino il percorso dei rifiuti per le scuole primarie e secondarie di primo grado. Per le scuole secondarie di primo grado anche un percorso che si basa sulla lettura articolato su tutto l’anno scolastico dal titolo “Si può! Si deve!”; e ancora “Agente 007...Missione spesa” un’attività innovativa che insegna a fare scelte di

acquisto sostenibili riducendo i rifiuti a partire dal carrello. Questo laboratorio fa parte dell’offerta integrativa alla didattica Verona Bene Comune, un programma del Centro di Riuso del Comune di Verona, di cui AMIA è partner ormai da quattro anni, insieme ad altre realtà cittadine. «Lavorare in rete è fondamentale – continua la responsabile – ed è per questo che collaboriamo con il Centro di Riuso del Comune di Verona, con l’Università e con Coldiretti, perché crediamo che solo unendo le forze si possa davvero costruire una città più attenta e sostenibile». Per le ragazze e i ragazzi più grandi, delle secondarie di secondo grado, invece, il percorso “Portiamo in scena l’ambiente” e le visite al centro di raccolta “Escursione tra i rifiuti di Verona”. A queste attività si affiancano ulteriori proposte: anche per le scuole secondarie è previsto il percorso “Eco-cittadino”, così da rendere più completa la conoscenza del ciclo dei rifiuti e favorire comportamenti responsabili. Per le scuole secondarie di primo e secondo grado è inoltre in programma lo spettacolo teatrale “AMIAmo ora il futuro”, un’occasione per riflettere

insieme sull’ambiente attraverso il linguaggio immediato e coinvolgente del teatro. Infine, per tutte le scuole prosegue il progetto “Il gusto di fare giusto”, che prevede la consegna dei contenitori di carta e plastica da collocare nei corridoi.

«Per dare alcuni numeri – prosegue la responsabile – l’anno scorso, primo anno di lancio del progetto, abbiamo lavorato con 120 scuole, 26.000 studenti e 250 laboratori e visite guidate fatti. I numeri sono importanti, ma ancora più importante è vedere ragazzi e bambini che si mettono in gioco e usano la loro sensibilità per fare qualcosa in più per l’ambiente, perché il vero cambiamento comincia sui banchi di scuola! Quest’anno abbiamo già avuto molte prenotazioni, siamo certi che il progetto si consoliderà ancora di più».

The major changes to the way waste is sorted in the city affect everyone, from the youngest to the oldest citizens. As we have often mentioned in these pages, a major cultural change is underway. And since the foundations of education are laid in childhood, what better place to educate and engage children and young people than at school?

At the Giornate della Didattica 2025 - Festival dell'educazione (Education Days 2025 - Education Festival) in September, organised by the Municipality of Verona, AMIA's Schools and Environmental Education Office presented all the projects and courses that combine knowledge, direct experience and creativity. 'All the proposals for schools are part of the three-year project Ambiente che passione (Environment, what a passion),“ explains Maria Cristina Buniotto, head of the office, 'because it is precisely through personal passions and aptitudes, from photography to reading, from theatre to travel, that we want to engage young people. All schools,

of all levels, from nursery to secondary school, get involved through the activities on offer”. These range from a photography experience to educate nursery schools about sustainability with “L'ombra delle cose” (The Shadow of Things), to an experience involving waste, photography and imagination with “La città che vorrei” (The City I Would Like) for primary schools, to the guided tour “Eco-cittadino” (Eco-citizen) at the AMIA Collection Centre in Verona to learn about the waste cycle for primary and lower secondary schools. For lower secondary schools, there is also a year-long reading programme entitled “Si può! Si deve!” (You can! You must!) and 'Agente 007... Shopping Mission", an innovative activity that teaches sustainable purchasing choices by reducing waste starting from the shopping trolley. This workshop is part of the Verona Bene Comune educational programme, run by the Reuse Centre of the Municipality of Verona, of which AMIA has been a partner for four years, together with other city organisations. ‘Networking is essential,’ continues the manager, ‘which is why we collaborate with the Verona City Council's Reuse Centre, the University and Coldiretti, because we believe that only by joining forces can we truly build a more mindful and sustainable city.’ For older children in secondary school, there is the “Portiamo in scena l'ambiente” (Let's put the environment on stage) programme and visits to the collection centre “Escursione tra i rifiuti di Verona” (Excursion among Verona's waste). These activities are complemented by further proposals: the “Eco-cittadino” (Eco-citizen) programme is also available for secondary schools, providing a more comprehensive understanding of the waste cycle and encouraging responsible behaviour. For lower and upper secondary schools, there is also the theatre show “AMIAmo ora il futuro” (Let's love the future now), an opportunity to reflect together on the environment through the immediate and engaging language of theatre. Finally, for all schools, the project “Il gusto di fare giusto” (The taste of doing the right thing) continues, which involves the delivery of paper and plastic containers to be placed in the corridors.

'To give you some figures,” continues the manager, 'last year, the first year of the project's launch, we worked with 120 schools, 26,000 students and 250 workshops and guided tours. The numbers are important, but even more important is seeing young people and children getting involved and using their sensitivity to do something more for the environment, because real change begins in the classroom! We have already had many bookings this year, and we are confident that the project will become even more established."

LE FINESTRE DEFINISCONO L’ESTETICA DELL’EDIFICIO

L’architettura è una risposta concreta a esigenze precise. E le finestre? Sono l’elemento essenziale nella ricerca di un perfetto connubio tra funzionalità ed estetica. Nell’intervista l’architetto Perrine Ernest parla del ruolo chiave dei serramenti nella definizione formale di edifici e facciate.

Quale ruolo svolge la finestra come elemento formale nell’architettura?

Le superfici vetrate sono fondamentali nella realizzazione dell’involucro edilizio. Rispetto a un muro massiccio il vetro riflette, per così dire, l’assenza di materiale. Le finestre danno ritmo e alleggeriscono la struttura. Concettualmente sono un elemento formale significativo nel linguaggio architettonico. Rappresentano il punto di partenza per tutta una serie di giochi geometrici e contribuiscono a definire il quadro d’insieme. Le finestre conferiscono carattere alla facciata e determinano l’estetica dell’intero edificio.

Secondo quali criteri estetici sceglie le finestre in qualità di architetto?

Grandi superfici vetrate invece consentono di creare un particolare effetto spaziale, dissolvendo i confini tra interno ed esterno. Anche gli ambienti più piccoli si possono valorizzare attraverso aperture posizionate nel punto giusto. La luce definisce gli spazi.

Quanto sono importanti le finestre per il benessere e la qualità abitativa? Infinitamente importanti.

Illuminano gli spazi accendendoli di vita. Architecture is a concrete response to specific needs. And windows? They are an essential element in the search for the perfect combination of functionality and aesthetics. In this interview, architect Perrine Ernest talks about the key role of windows and doors in the formal definition of buildings and façades.

What role does the window play as a formal element in architecture?

Glass surfaces are fundamental in the construction of the building envelope. Compared to a solid wall, glass reflects, so to speak, the absence of material. Windows give rhythm and lighten the structure. Conceptually, they are a significant formal element in architectural language. They represent the starting point for a whole series of geometric games and help to define the overall picture. Windows

give character to the façade and determine the aesthetics of the entire building.

As an architect, what aesthetic criteria do you use when choosing windows?

It depends on the building, the architectural style and the client's specific requirements. The end result must be harmonious. One trend that can be observed at present is to “erase” window profiles, which are becoming increasingly thin, almost invisible. From an aesthetic point of view, however, it would also be interesting to emphasise the frame. For example, the profiles of the sashes can be highlighted or made the focal point through a carefully considered combination of materials.

How do the modularity and materiality of windows influence architecture?

It's very simple: with formal freedom comes greater freedom of composition. A wide selection of materials, shapes and colours that can be combined thanks to a modular structure translates into endless possibilities. Even

in the details. From the colour of the window beading to the glass spacers, from the composition of the glazing to the light transmission... every aspect can be custom designed.

Another aspect to always consider is the interaction between interior and exterior... Yes, definitely. Windows, for example, can frame the landscape or create perspective effects. Large glass surfaces, on the other hand, allow you to create a particular spatial effect, dissolving the boundaries between interior and exterior. Verona, città ricca di storia e arte, è costellata di monumenti che testimoniano il suo passato glorioso.

Tra quelli meno noti, ma di grandissimo fascino, spicca un’opera architettonica, oggi quasi sconosciuta ai più, veronesi compresi, che fu un elemento fondamentale dell’antico sistema difensivo della città.

Nascosta tra lo storico quartiere di Santo Stefano e quello di Valdonega, è un’opera che merita di essere conosciuta. Venite con me alla scoperta della Rondella delle Boccare.

Origini e storia

Siamo nel Cinquecento, quando Verona tornò a far parte della Repubblica di Venezia. E uno dei primi interventi della Serenissima

fu il rafforzamento di tutte le strutture difensive della città, che, di epoca medioevale, erano ormai deboli e poco affidabili.

Ecco che a nord della città, lungo la cinta muraria scaligera che, posta a sinistra del fiume Adige, sale fin sulla collina, sorse la nostra Rondella, che rappresenta un vero gioiello architettonico, unico nel suo genere.

Edificata negli anni Venti del ‘500, colpisce perché unisce in un'opera di difesa importanti funzionalità belliche a una straordinaria bellezza delle forme: «uno dei più nobili edifizi ch’abbia forse fatto vedere ne’ moderni secoli l'Architettura» la definì il Maffei nel XVIII secolo.

Il Bastione, di pianta circolare, è una struttura davvero ciclopica. Qualche numero?

Il diametro esterno è di oltre

50 metri, l’ambiente interno, la casamatta, ha un diametro di 35 metri, oltre 7 di altezza e mura dello spessore di 8 metri. È caratterizzato da una volta a forma di un grande toroide, cioè di un ciambellone con struttura centrale a fungo. L’ambiente è illuminato in maniera suggestiva e l’acustica al suo interno è perfetta. Nella volta sono presenti quattro aperture e altre quattro si aprivano in corrispondenza delle cannoniere per dissipare il fumo degli spari, le cosiddette “boccare” che danno il nome alla rondella.

Il piano superiore, al quale si accede tramite una rampa esterna, presenta una pianta a forma di ferro di cavallo.

I tanti riferimenti presenti all’antica architettura romana, come il maestoso portale d’ingresso, rivelano l’eccellenza di un autore che purtroppo rimane sconosciuto, ma che continua ad essere ammirato per quest’opera d’architettura giudicata dai veronesi “nobile decoro della città”.

Una curiosità? Era così amata che nel 1801 alcuni cittadini riuscirono ad ottenere che fosse risparmiata dalla distruzione compiuta dalle truppe napoleoniche in ritirata.

Nel corso dell’800 la Rondella, restaurata e adattata alle nuove esigenze militari, continua a svolgere il suo ruolo, usata anche come spazio per la grande cavalleria austriaca e italiana, ospitando oltre 100 cavalli.

Il ‘900

Il ‘900 con l’avvento del Fascismo cambiò completamente il suo destino. Fu costruita davanti al suo accesso la Maternità (oggi l’istituto scolastico Marco Polo) e la Rondella venne abbandonata fino alla Seconda Guerra Mondiale quando venne utilizzata come rifugio, offrendo un sicuro riparo dai bombardamenti. Si trasformò in un vero bunker: lungo lo spessore delle mure venne scavato un corridoio in cui possiamo ancora vedere le staffe su cui si posizionavano le barelle delle partorienti, vennero erette sale operatorie, gabinetti e persino un forno. Ma finita la guerra venne di nuovo abbandonata e usata come deposito.

Oggi la Rondella delle Boccare cerca di tornare ad essere vissuta dalla sua città, essendo perfetta per ospitare eventi diversi dal carattere culturale (come quello recente

che la vede ospitare un progetto di ArtVerona) e ci auguriamo che questo avvenga sempre più, per potere godere dei suoi incredibili spazi.

DISCOVERING: THE RONDELLA DELLE BOCCARE

A magnificent example of ingenuity and elegance in defence of the city.

Verona, a city rich in history and art, is dotted with monuments that bear witness to its glorious past. Among the lesser-known but extremely fascinating ones, there is an architectural work, now almost now almost unknown even to the Veronese themselves, which was a fundamental element of the city's ancient defensive system.

Hidden between the historic districts of Santo Stefano and Valdonega, it is a work that deserves to be known.

Origins and history

We are in the 16th century, when Verona returned to the Republic of Venice. One of the first measures taken by the Serenissima was to strengthen all the city's

defensive structures, which, dating back to the Middle Ages, were by then weak and unreliable.

Thus, to the north of the city, along the Scaliger walls, which rise up the hill to the left of the Adige River, our Rondella was built, a true architectural gem, unique in its kind.

Built in the 1520s, it is striking because it combines important military functions with extraordinary beauty of form: “one of the most noble buildings that architecture has perhaps seen in modern times”, as Maffei described it in the 18th century.

The Bastion, with its circular plan, is a truly cyclopean structure. Some numbers?

The external diameter is over 50 metres, the internal environment, the casemate, has a diameter of 35 metres, is over 7 metres high and has walls 8 metres thick. It is characterised by a vault in the shape of a large torus, i.e. a doughnut with a central mushroom-shaped structure. The space is lit in an evocative manner and the acoustics inside are perfect. There are four openings in the vault and another four opened at the embrasures to dissipate the smoke from the shots, the so-called “boccare” (mouths) that give the rondella its name.

The upper floor, accessed via an external ramp, has a horseshoe-shaped plan.

The many references to ancient Roman architecture, such as the majestic entrance portal, reveal the excellence of an architect who unfortunately remains unknown but who continues to be admired for this work of architecture, considered by the people of Verona to be a “noble decoration of the city”.

An interesting fact? It was so beloved that in 1801, some citizens managed to have it spared from destruction by Napoleon's retreating troops.

During the 19th century, the Rondella was restored and adapted

to new military needs, continuing to play its role, also used as a space for the large Austrian and Italian cavalry, housing over 100 horses.

The 20th century

The 20th century, with the advent of Fascism, completely changed its destiny. The Maternity Hospital (now the Marco Polo school) was built in front of its entrance, and the Rondella was abandoned until the Second World War, when it was used as a shelter, offering safe refuge from bombing. It was transformed into a veritable bunker: a corridor was dug along the thickness of the walls, where we can still see the brackets on which the stretchers for women in labour were placed, and operating theatres, toilets and even an oven were installed. But after the war, it was abandoned again and used as a warehouse.

Today, the Rondella delle Boccare is trying to return to being part of city life, as it is perfect for hosting various cultural events (such as the recent ArtVerona project), and we hope that this will happen more and more, so that we can enjoy its incredible spaces.

In queste righe, invece, vi facciamo una nostra selezione: cominciamo subito con un concerto evento per celebrare il Canto lirico Patrimonio dell'Umanità, riconoscimento dell’UNESCO arrivato il 6 dicembre 2023, dal titolo “Pazzi per l'opera”. L’opera viene così celebrata attraverso dieci parole che sono altrettanti “capitoli” di uno spettacolo-concerto. Cecilia Gasdia, sovraintendente della Fondazione Arena di Verona e Alberto Mattioli, scrittore e critico che si è occupato della drammaturgia, conducono gli spettatori tra arie, cori, concertati da Monteverdi

a Puccini, un dizionario minimo del Canto lirico con commenti letti dall’attore Matteo Martari. Sabato 11 ottobre al Teatro Filarmonico.

La stagione del Teatro Ristori si apre invece con la grande musica jazz. Sul palco il Sergio Cammariere 4et e Giovanna Famulari. Una serata all’insegna del pianismo lirico e dei brani d’autore tipici dell’approccio di Cammariere, per l’occasione accompagnati dalle note della famosa violincellista Giovanna Famulari.

Per le Serate d’Autore al Teatro Ristori, le presentazioni, talk e monologhi di personalità di spicco in diversi ambiti della nostra società, è da segnare in agenda il 5 novembre “L’uomo che costruiva il futuro” di e con Nicolò Govoni. Ci sono diversi motivi per frequentare un teatro: per svago, per riflettere, per vedere con altri occhi storie e situazioni che ci riguardano e che si rispecchiano anche nelle nostra vita… o per conoscere storie di persone che stanno cambiando alcuni pezzetti di mondo. Questo è il caso dello spettacolo di cui vi parliamo, che racconta la storia straordinaria

rubriche.

All’età di vent’anni, dopo un’adolescenza difficile, Nicolò ha deciso di aiutare bambine e bambini, che vivono situazioni vulnerabili in Grecia, Turchia, Siria, Kenya, Repubblica Democratica del Congo e Colombia, a studiare e quindi costruirsi un futuro migliore con un metodo di studio innovativo. Nicolò è stato anche nominato Premio Nobel per la Pace, proprio a dimostrazione della valenza umana e solidale del suo progetto. Cambiando palcoscenico, invece, dal 18 al 23 novembre per il Grande Teatro, la rassegna curata dal Comune di Verona con il Teatro Stabile di Verona al Teatro Nuovo che s’inaugura a inizio novembre, andrà in scena “Iliade. Il gioco degli dèi”, un adattamento ispirato all’Iliade di Omero su testo di Francesco Niccolini con la drammaturgia e regia di Alessio Boni, Roberto Aldorasi e Marcello Prayer. Boni, che troveremo in scena nei panni di Zeus, nelle note della drammaturgia scrive: «Sono causa di tutto ma non hanno colpa di nulla, capricciosi, vendicativi, disumani: sono gli dèi immortali, e la loro commedia è la tragedia degli

uomini, da sempre. Da un po’ di tempo però qualcosa è cambiato: sono diventati pallidi, immagini sbiadite dell’antico splendore, hanno perso i loro poteri e non sanno spiegarsi né come né quando sia iniziato il loro tramonto. Non si incontrano da secoli, dai tempi di Elena, Achille, Ettore, Andromaca, Priamo, Ecuba, Agamennone, Patroclo, Odisseo e degli altri personaggi di cui si divertivano a muovere i fili del destino, ma oggi un misterioso invito li riunisce tutti, dopo tanto tempo. Chi li ha invitati? Per quale motivo?» Un gioco quello messo in scena in cui gli stessi dèi ricordano la guerra di Troia e la fanno rivivere, con armature vuote, burattini, un monito sulla storia attuale e la storia dell’intera umanità. Uno spettacolo capace di far riflettere con ironia e divertimento. Here, however, we offer you our own selection: we begin with a concert event celebrating opera singing as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a recognition that arrived on 6 December 2023, entitled “Pazzi per l'opera” (Crazy about opera). Opera is celebrated through ten words that are also the “chapters” of a concert-show. Cecilia Gasdia, superintendent of

the Fondazione Arena di Verona, and Alberto Mattioli, writer and critic who was responsible for the dramaturgy, lead the audience through arias, choruses and ensembles from Monteverdi to Puccini, a mini dictionary of opera singing with commentary read by actor Matteo Martari. Saturday 11 October at the Teatro Filarmonico. The Teatro Ristori season opens with great jazz music. On stage are Sergio Cammariere Quartet and Giovanna Famulari. An evening of lyrical piano playing and signature songs in Cammariere’s style, accompanied for the occasion by the notes of the famous cellist Giovanna Famulari. For the Serate d'Autore (Author's Evenings) at the Teatro Ristori, presentations, talks and monologues by prominent figures in various fields of our society, mark your calendars for 5 November for “L'uomo che costruiva il futuro” (The Man Who Built the Future) by and with Nicolò Govoni. There are many reasons to go to the theatre: for entertainment, for reflection, to see stories and

situations that also reflect our own lives through different eyes... or to learn about the stories of people who are changing small parts of the world. This is the case with the show we are talking about, which tells the extraordinary story of Nicolò Govoni. At the age of twenty, after a difficult adolescence, Nicolò decided to help children living in vulnerable situations in Greece, Turkey, Syria, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Colombia to study and thus build a better future for themselves with an innovative study method. Nicolò was also nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, demonstrating the human and humanitarian value of his project.

From 18 to 23 November, the Grande Teatro, the festival organised by the Municipality of Verona with the Teatro Stabile di Verona at the Teatro Nuovo, which opens at the beginning of November, will stage 'Iliade. In un panorama in cui il design rischia spesso di confondersi con la produzione seriale e la mera estetica, Reverse rappresenta un'anomalia virtuosa. Fondata nel 2010 come associazione culturale e diventata impresa nel 2013, l’azienda veronese porta avanti una visione olistica di sostenibilità ambientale e sociale, con lo sguardo dell’architettura e le mani dell’artigianato. Per Orizzonti sostenibili di questo mese abbiamo intervistato Federica Collato, co-fondatrice di Reverse, insieme a Nicola Gastaldo e Michele Pistaffa. Una realtà che progetta e realizza arredi e allestimenti su misura per aziende, partendo da un principio tanto semplice quanto radicale: produrre solo quando c’è una reale richiesta, nel rispetto dell’ambiente.

La materia prima come responsabilità

L’approccio di Reverse alla materia prima è rigoroso e creativo. Dal recupero dei bancali, con cui hanno mosso i primi passi, all’utilizzo di legno certificato FSC, ogni scelta è orientata a ridurre l’impatto

Ogni pezzo creato da Reverse, per fiere, uffici, spazi pubblici e privati, viene completamente pensato, progettato e sviluppato

internamente. Ecco perché oltre al primo laboratorio, hanno una rete stretta di artigiani con cui collaborano in complementarietà: non sono semplici fornitori con cui accordarsi una volta l’anno, ma veri e propri collaboratori.

Inoltre, dal 2017, dopo qualche anno in cui hanno portato i loro workshop nelle carceri, per spiegare cosa significa davvero “fatto a mano”, e cosa comporta in termini di tempo e prezzo, Reverse ha iniziato a gestire un vero e proprio laboratorio di falegnameria all’interno del carcere di Verona, con cui è nato il progetto “Fatto

in carcare”. Qui, ogni giorno, detenuti privi di esperienza vengono formati e coinvolti nella produzione di arredi e allestimenti, seguendo commesse vere e proprie. È un progetto che integra formazione, lavoro e responsabilizzazione, offrendo una concreta opportunità di reinserimento e riducendo il rischio di recidiva.

Il laboratorio ha realizzato sedute e palco per la visita del Papa all’Arena di Verona, stand per Emergency, negozi ed eventi, oltre che prodotti per negozi di Altromercato e molte altre produzioni, dimostrando che anche dentro un contesto complesso come il carcere può nascere eccellenza artigianale e bellezza etica.

Cosa aspettarci dal futuro?

Recentemente Reverse ha sentito il bisogno di aprirsi e di formarsi su altri materiali che non fossero il legno. Questo perché, nonostante tutti i vantaggi, come è normale che sia, anche il legno ha i suoi limiti. È dall’anno scorso che hanno cominciato a ragionare su altri materiali alternativi al legno, come ad esempio la plastica riciclata. Complice anche la vittoria di un bando di Cariverona - PRECIOUS PLASTIC - cominceranno a progettare e produrre pannelli in plastica riciclata, direttamente nel laboratorio in carcere. Oltre ai materiali per gli arredi però, la vera sfida per il futuro è una riflessione più approfondita sui modelli di business, dove riusare e rimettere in circolo l’arredo potrebbe essere una delle soluzioni davvero vincenti, anche per l’ambiente, “quasi come un servizio a noleggio”.

SUSTAINABLE HORIZONS: REVERSE

Design that gives new life to materials and people.

In a landscape where design often risks being confused with mass production and mere aesthetics, Reverse represents a virtuous anomaly. Founded in 2010 as a cultural association and becoming a business in 2013, the Verona-based company pursues a holistic vision of environmental and social sustainability, with an architectural eye and artisan hands. For this month's Sustainable Horizons, we interviewed Federica Collato, co-founder of Reverse, together with Nicola Gastaldo and Michele Pistaffa. A company that designs and manufactures custommade furniture and fittings for businesses, based on a principle that is as simple as it is radical: only produce when there is a real demand, while respecting the environment.

Raw materials as a responsibility Reverse's approach to raw materials is rigorous and creative. From the recovery of pallets, with which they took their first steps, to the use of FSC-certified wood, every choice is geared towards reducing environmental impact and extending the life of products. It is not just a question of recycled materials, but of a design process that involves modularity and the evolution of furniture over time, designed to grow alongside customers. This is the case with the stand created for Maternatura, a company they have been working with since 2018: the same stand is updated and reused every year, in a cycle of maintenance and in a cycle of maintenance and transformation that represents a new way of

thinking about exhibition space. With this in mind, Reverse aims to enhance existing products rather than sell new ones.

Social sustainability: the prison workshop

Every piece created by Reverse for trade fairs, offices, public and private spaces is entirely conceived, designed and developed inhouse. This is why, in addition to their first workshop, they have a close-knit network of artisans with whom they collaborate in a complementary manner: they are not simply suppliers to be contracted once a year, but true collaborators. Furthermore, since 2017, after a few years of taking their workshops into prisons to explain what “handmade” really means and what it entails in terms of time and price, Reverse has started running a real carpentry workshop inside Verona prison, which gave rise to the “Fatto in carcare” (Made in prison) project. Here, every day, inexperienced prisoners are trained and involved in the production of furniture and fittings, following real orders. It is a project that integrates training, work and empowerment, offering a concrete opportunity for reintegration and reducing the risk of recidivism.

The workshop has produced seating and a stage for the Pope's visit to the Arena di Verona, stands for Emergency, shops and events, as well as products for Altromercato shops and many other items, demonstrating that even in a complex environment such as prison, excellence in craftsmanship and ethical beauty can flourish.

What can we expect from the future?

Recently, Reverse has felt the need to branch out and learn about materials other than wood. This is because, despite all its advantages, wood also has its limitations, as is to be expected. Since last year, they have been considering alternative materials to wood, such as recycled plastic. Thanks in part to winning a Cariverona - PRECIOUS PLASTIC tender, they will begin designing and producing recycled plastic panels directly in the prison workshop. However, in addition to materials for furniture, the real challenge for the future is to think more deeply about business models, where reusing and putting furniture back into circulation could be one of the truly winning solutions, also for the environment, “almost like a rental service”.

Above us

Presentato alla settima edizione del Believe Film Festival (un approfondimento del Festival si può avere a pag.28), Above us ha come protagonista Thomas Duncan, un soldato in ricognizione, che scorge in lontananza un aereo nemico diretto verso il campo base alleato. Per un guasto alle comunicazioni dovrà correre per avvertire tutti e salvarli dall’imminente attacco. Le cose non vanno come previsto: viene intercettato dal nemico e tenta di rifugiarsi in una casa abbandonata. Tuttavia viene colto di sorpresa da un soldato e ucciso. Da allora Thomas fa sempre visita alle tombe dei soldati che non ha potuto salvare, parlando con la sua stessa lapide e rivivendo quel giorno in un’eterna agonia. Con un’alternanza di scene in bianco e nero e a colori il cortometraggio esplora il tema dell’atrocità della guerra e racconta il trauma che resta sulla pelle dei soldati. Il titolo del cortometraggio rimanda a qualcosa sopra di noi, che non sono soltanto gli aerei, realizzati con l’uso degli effetti speciali e della CGI, ma soprattutto a qualcosa più grande dell’uomo, di ineluttabile e che ci sovrasta. Il protagonista è infatti impotente davanti a qualcosa di più grande di lui, nella sua disperazione e nel non essere potuto a riuscire a salvare tutti i suoi amici soldati.

Above us

Presented at the seventh edition of the Believe Film Festival (more information about the Festival can be found on page 25), Above us stars Thomas Duncan, a soldier on reconnaissance, who spots an enemy aircraft in the distance heading towards the allied base camp. Due to a communications failure, he has to run to warn everyone and save them from the imminent attack. Things do not go as planned: he is intercepted by the enemy and tries to take refuge in an abandoned house. However, he is taken by surprise by a soldier and killed.

Since then, Thomas has been visiting the graves of the soldiers he was unable to save, talking to his own gravestone and reliving that day in eternal agony.

Alternating between black and white and colour scenes, the short film explores the theme of the atrocity of war and recounts the trauma that remains on the soldiers' skin. The title of the short film refers to something above us, which is not only the aeroplanes, created using special effects and CGI, but above all something greater than man, something inevitable that towers above us. The protagonist is in fact powerless in the face of something greater than himself, in his despair and in his inability to save all his fellow soldiers.

Un avvincente romanzo storico d’avventura ambientato al tempo dei Vichinghi.

Yrsa è una quindicenne audace che sa farsi rispettare, nonostante la disabilità di un piede deforme, e ha il dono di presagire il futuro. Di ritorno dalle consuete razzie, il padre le affida Job, una suora di alto rango presa in ostaggio. Le due ragazze appartengono a mondi distanti: l’una porta al collo la croce e prega Dio, l’altra stringe l’amuleto della dea Frigg e chiede protezione agli elfi. Nasce una sincera amicizia, che va sostituendosi alla reciproca diffidenza. Attraverso una scrittura cinematografica, il romanzo declina temi attuali quali la violenza di genere e le differenze culturali e religiose.

Daughter of Destiny

A compelling historical adventure novel set in the Viking era. Yrsa is a daring 15-year-old who commands respect despite her deformed foot and has the gift of foreseeing the future. Returning from his usual raids, her father entrusts her with Job, a high-ranking nun taken hostage. The two girls belong to distant worlds: one wears a cross around her neck and prays to God, the other clutches the amulet of the goddess Frigg and asks the elves for protection. A sincere friendship develops, replacing their mutual distrust. Through cinematic writing, the novel explores current themes such as gender violence and cultural and religious differences.

“Ho, negli anni, imparato la pazienza e ad accettare chi arriva e chi non resta, chi si presenta all’incontro mensile la metà delle volte, chi non se ne vuole andare e rimane a gravitare attorno al gruppo di lettura. Ho imparato a non dubitare della bontà dei progetti per i più giovani che orbitano intorno alla lettura perché ognuno a suo modo, pur nella diversità, ha qualcosa di buono, se lo si osserva con attenzione, soprattutto se siamo disposti a fare rete”. Giuliana Facchini, oltre a coltivare con successo la scrittura per bambini e ragazzi, da anni conduce il gruppo di lettura per adolescenti e giovani adulti “Leggere ribelle” presso la Biblioteca di Bussolengo: un’esperienza che ha via via ampliato coinvolgendo altre biblioteche (tra cui quelle del Comune di Verona con il progetto SPAZI LIBeRI) e molte scuole del territorio veronese. Man Ray

A Palazzo Reale si ripercorrono le tappe biografiche e professionali di Man Ray, un artista unico nel suo genere e un geniale pioniere. Lui fu uno dei primi a utilizzare la fotografia come un vero e proprio medium creativo, realizzando opere emblematiche che sono entrate a far parte della storia dell’arte del Novecento. Un importante nucleo di materiali originali (stampe vintage, negativi, collage, documenti), provenienti dalla collezione Lucien Treillard, assistente e ultimo collaboratore dell’artista, documenta la storia di Man Ray dalla nascita (1890, Philadelphia), agli ambienti newyorkesi dove scopre le avanguardie europee e stringe amicizia con Marcel Duchamp, fino all’approdo parigino del 1921.

Man Ray

Palazzo Reale traces the biographical and professional stages of Man Ray, a unique artist and brilliant pioneer. He was one of the first to use photography as a true creative medium, producing emblematic works that have become part of 20th-century art history. An important collection of original materials (vintage prints, negatives, collages, documents) from the collection of Lucien Treillard, the artist's assistant and last collaborator, documents Man Ray's history from his birth (1890, Philadelphia) to the New York circles where he discovered the European avant-garde and befriended Marcel Duchamp, until his arrival in Paris in 1921.

Twenty years of Haute Couture

This sumptuous exhibition celebrates 20 years of haute couture by Giorgio Armani, who recently passed away after a lifetime dedicated to his creations. Spread over four floors in the evocative Armani/Silos space, it displays jewelled dresses, sculptural tulle and hat-creations, trains and refined decorations of pearls and feathers. The exhibition includes accessories and videos of fashion shows, accompanied by the fragrance Bois d'Encens and a soundtrack created by the trio L'Antidote. The exhibition offers a refined look at sartorial luxury, emphasising precious materials, fluid silhouettes and the poetic vision of ‘Re Giorgio”.

Prosegue il tributo alla storia e all'eredità di Giacomo Casanova in occasione delle celebrazioni per i 300 anni dalla nascita. Lo scrittore, poeta, avventuriero e diplomatico è una fondamentale chiave di lettura del Settecento europeo, del mondo delle grandi corti e delle potenti dinastie. La mostra ricostruisce il personaggio tra storia, con l'esposizione di parte dei documenti del fondo del casanovista Aldo Ravà, dalla Biblioteca Correr, arte, con opere e dipinti dell'epoca, e cinema, con un focus sul capolavoro Casanova (1976) di Federico Fellini, attraverso bozzetti di scenografie cinematografiche e di abiti della collezione Cirulli.

The legacy of a legend spanning history, art and cinema

The tribute to the history and legacy of Giacomo Casanova continues with celebrations marking the 300th anniversary of his birth. The writer, poet, adventurer and diplomat is a key figure in understanding 18thcentury Europe, the world of grand courts and powerful dynasties. The exhibition reconstructs the character through history, with the display of part of the documents from the collection of Casanova scholar Aldo Ravà, from the Correr Library; art, with works and paintings from the period; and cinema, with a focus on Federico Fellini's masterpiece Casanova (1976), through sketches of film sets and costumes from the Cirulli collection.

Ottava edizione di Halloween in uno dei parchi più belli al mondo, con spettacoli horror, zucche e ragni a fare da scenografia, laboratori, musica, giochi e “dolcetto o scherzetto” rivisitato. Un evento, cresciuto nel tempo, immerso nel foliage autunnale, tra alberi secolari, atmosfere paurose e divertimento da brivido per tutte le età. Corsa di Halloween

Torna la Corsa di Halloween, manifestazione ludicomotoria non competitiva di corsa o camminata. Tre i percorsi a scelta tra 2,5 km, 6 km o 10 km tra le scenografie a tema, le emozionanti ambientazioni d’autunno del Giardino, boschi e sconfinati tappeti erbosi. Ingresso al Parco per i partecipanti dalle 8:00 alle 9:00; partenza dalle 9:00 alle 10:00; a disposizione due punti ristoro e il deposito borse; pacchi gara disponibili fino a 2.000 partecipanti.
