Alignment Qigong: Mind, Body, Nature

This class series focuses on specific, evidence-based practices of Medical Qigong to fortify your immune system. Included are stress reduction techniques and lifestyle suggestions to support protection energy "Wei Qi" and overall holistic health. Your Instructor, Fay McGrew, is a certified Qigong Master and Healer with decades of experience offering Medical Qigong in hospitals, clinics and mental health institutions. She engages you in gentle, easy-to-follow movements, inspiring mindfulness, and invigorating yet gentle breathing exercises.

Fun with Rock Painting

Yoga with Cynthia Gentle Yoga

This class will focus on classic therapeutic strengthening exercises for the whole body. Learn proper form and alignment to stay safe as you get stronger!

Kata (The Tai Chi of Karate)

This is a movement class open to all abilities. We will practice set sequences of moves which flow almost like a dance. This is a NON-contact class and aims to aid attention, focus, balance and mobility.

Restorative Yoga

Mondays, Oct. 6 – 27, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., $42

The class will begin with a breathing meditation and move into gentle Restorative poses. It is for all levels and introduces the benefits of each pose.

Yin Yoga

Yin poses are held for 2–5 minutes each and are designed to relax targeted areas, stimulate the dense connective tissue, and promote vitality and resilience.

Introduction to Ceramics

Classes will include detailed instruction and demonstrations followed by guided studio time where students will create individual pieces using multiple handbuilding techniques such as slab, pinch and coil. An $80 materials fee paid to the instructor is due at the first class of each session. All levels welcome. A Glaze Clinic is also available for current students after class for $35.

Digital Photo & Tech

3rd & 4th Wed., 2 – 3:15 p.m., Free with Registration

This class takes place at the Carlsbad Senior Center and over Zoom with registration. The last 15 minutes will be devoted to your questions.

Shutterfly Photo Books (Oct. 15)

Our instructor, Mike McMahon, will demonstrate the photo book process, including using photos from one’s smartphone and/or computer. Choosing a style template and adding captions will also be demonstrated. Photo books are a great way to show off your favorite family and travel photos. Come learn more about it.

23 Killer iPhone Tips – Part 2 (Oct. 22)

Mike’s iPhone Killer Tips – Part 1 class drew a standingroom-only crowd at the Senior Center and over 150 viewers on the extended Zoom broadcast. Part 2 will address topics that were asked about in Part 1 and many other fun and helpful tips. Come early…seating is limited.

Community Garden Club

Excursion: Pottery Painting

A creative afternoon exploring two of Vista’s local treasures, no experience required! Paint your own mug, plate, or bowl (supplies, glazing, and firing included). You will be guided by the expert staff at the locally owned Clay N’ Latte. Before we unleash our inner artists, we’ll enjoy lunch at the whimsical Yellow Deli. Lunch is nonhost; guests are responsible for purchasing their own meals. Bring your creativity and a love of good company.

Congregate Lunch Service

• Join us for a nutritious lunch on weekdays at the Carlsbad Senior Center First-time attendees must fill out a San Diego County Intake form.

60+ years: $3.50 suggested voluntary contribution *

Guests 50–59 years: $5 fee

Guests under 50 years: $5 fee and must be accompanied by a senior

• The dining room is open from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and meals are served from 12 to 12:45 p.m.

• No outside food is permitted in the dining room, per San Diego County Health Code.

Transportation Service

• Need a ride to lunch? Transportation is available on weekdays for Carlsbad residents, 60+ who cannot drive. Advanced registration and approval are required. Participants must be fully independent and ambulatory. The suggested voluntary contribution for this service is $4 per round-trip *

Home Meal Delivery Service

• Homebound Carlsbad residents 60+ may qualify for home-delivered meals! Senior Center staff can help you complete the required intake form and will conduct a home visit to determine eligibility. The suggested voluntary contribution for this service is $5 per meal. *

• To register or with questions about eligibility, please call the Carlsbad Senior Center Nutrition team at 442–339–2651 or email SeniorCenterServices@CarlsbadCA.gov.

• For questions about the menu, delivery changes, or volunteer driver opportunities, please call Meals on Wheels North County at 760–736–9900.
