A hybrid building, an innovative multi-use building in Valencia, Spain, seamlessly blending private residences, traditional ceramics production, and Valencian “Fallas” scenography. Fostering cultural traditions with live-work spaces for artists.
Historical restaurationof an old train station with open space and an organic path, the design creates work and rest areas connected by a garden-patio, addressing commuting challenges with combined living and working spaces.
A multifunctional building, providing a communal space for young people to gather, socialize, and enjoy overnight stays in the secluded forest environment—a serene escape for weekend retreats with friends.

VLOX, an innovative architectural endeavor, redefines the urban landscape of Valencia, Spain. Nestled near a picturesque sea path, this multi-story building seamlessly integrates private residences, artisanal workshops for traditional ceramics production, and spaces dedicated to crafting Valencian “Fallas” scenography. Rooted in the city’s rich cultural heritage, VLOX is a dynamic urban hub that fosters public engagement and cultural activities. The building’s distinctive section arises from the intentional stacking of rectangular prisms, housing the diverse functions within. This design not only facilitates seamless interaction between different program elements but also creates dynamic façades with fragmented volumetry, adapting to the surrounding conditions in each orientation. The strategic placement of VLOX establishes a profound connection between the city and the sea, transforming the immediate vicinity into a vibrant urban space through a carefully planned street. Within VLOX, artists specialized in crafting objects find unique residences with integrated workspaces, fostering a community where living and working coalesce. Simultaneously, other residences cater to those seeking a conventional living experience, providing a diverse range of housing options. Situated in an old and rusty train station which means: a bast amount of free space. For that matter, it is proposed an organic “flow” that facilitates an axial alignment of the elements. Creating unique spaces through the convexity fromed in each curve. Following the program given, we divide perpendicularly the long surface into 2 sections: the “office” and “resting area”, connected by an outdoor garden-patio full of vegetation, a place where the workers can liberate stress from daily routine. The building is designd to solve the problem which employees suffer when having to comute to work. A place where working and living is possible.

PREVIOUS ANALISIS IDEAS & CONCEPTS
Situated next to the “Umbraculo de Cercedilla” designed by architects: María Luisa López Sardá + Javier Vellés. A three-dimensional lattice structure entirely constructed from varnished square-sectioned wooden pieces. The architectural idea was to create a large canopy, an extension of the tree branches that would “rationalize” the play of light and shadow, organizing the various spaces in the forest environment. Focusing on the main concepts standing out in this project, we convey them in a multy-functional building where young people can meet and socialise, spent the night in a community hidden in the wilderness of the forest. Perfect for a weekend scape with friends.

The masterplan focuses on a central north-to-south axis, creating a cohesive community experience. Along this axis, public spaces and purposeful buildings enhance connectivity. Dwellings feature intimate courtyards, while public buildings surround a large central public square. Secondary paths encourage exploration, and a raised walkway links public buildings. An elevated, terraced park introduces green tranquility with varying heights. This design prioritizes connectivity, community engagement, and sustainable green spaces, redefining urban living for the future

The urban design project targets five carefully selected intervention sites, focusing on public open spaces to reignite community engagement. The goal is to enhance these spaces through improved pathways, vegetation, lighting, etc, through modular elements tailored to each village’s unique needs. We aim to create adaptable, vibrant hubs that encourage the community’s use and enjoyment, fostering a renewed sense of connection and well-being.

Each chosen location, originally designed for public enjoyment, has been carefully evaluated based on its relationship with outdoor living and its significance to the community. We recognize the importance of these spaces in promoting a sense of belonging and facilitating safe family activities. To ensure the success of our intervention, key elements such as resting places, abundant vegetation, and nighttime lighting have been integrated into the design. These elements are considered non-negotiable components that contribute to the overall appeal anad functionality of the revitalized spaces. Understanding the unique needs of each village, our design introduces adaptable modules tailored to address specific community requirements. These modules serve as dynamic solutions capable of evolving in response to changing needs, ultimately forming a cohesive municipal connection.
