TeePublic and Zazzle are good options to remain hands-off. As both platforms will handle returns or customer complaints, I can focus on creating designs. TeePublic requires a certain amount of success before reaching a rank to get higher profits and product promotion, whereas Zazzle allows you to determine what profit you make.

Notebooks and Apparel for Writers

The Pen & Pixel Shops on TeePublic and Zazzle will offer products catering to writers and authors, though some offerings may appeal to other creatives, in general. These products feature inspirational or humorous slogans around writing and creative endeavors. Imagery may include writing or typing implements, books, imaginative scenes, and florals.

While product offerings are only limited by the availability of the print-on-demand services, primary focus will be given to notebooks and stationery, mugs and tumblers, and apparel.

In the short-term, this shop takes advantage of the marketplace offered by TeePublic and Zazzle to test designs for sale. Long-term growth goals include expanding to Etsy, Ebay, and Amazon Marketplaces using either Printful, Printify, or Amazon Merch for fulfillment and distribution.

Audience

The core audience of Pen & Pixel Shops are writers, artists, and creatives. They are seeking items which spark creativity or put a humorous spin on their hobby or profession.

Long-Term Goals

TeePublic and Zazzle will likely remain testing grounds for new designs long into the future. However, expanding into larger markets would likely prove more profitable for successful designs. At a certain level of success, designs would be removed from TeePublic and Zazzle, to be listed on Ebay and Etsy (fulfilled by Printful or Printify). Depending on acceptance into the Amazon Merch Program, successful designs would also be listed on Amazon and fulfilled by Amazon Merch.

Future Merch & Stores

Exploring print-on-demand options now could prove beneficial to future endeavors. While in the short-term, the shops are avenues of design exploration, I am working on other projects where I would employ my design skills. The experience of creating designs to sell online would benefit these projects.

For example, I am writing a novel. I am creating designs to use for marketing purposes. These designs could also be sold as merch for customers who would like to purchase them. Having a merch shop alongside book sales would provide multiple revenue streams from one creative endeavors.
