When Viking photographer Dana Andresonâs youngest daughter Jorja started school 12 years ago, her first day of school photo featured her dad, David, tossing her out the door. The Andresonâs have a family tradition of taking and sharing very off-thewall humorous photos from the first day of school. Since that first day of Grade 1 for Jorja, weâve had the privilege of sharing these photos with our readers. Dana took this yearâs photo last week as Jorja starts Grade 12 this year, and says she decided to return to the
beginning. Also in the back of the truck, cowering in fear is Danaâs granddaughter, Paisley Merta, who coincidentally is starting her school journey in Grade 1 this year. We are grateful to Dana for sharing her familyâs journey, and their sense of humour over the past 12 years. Oh, and donât worry! No Jorjas were hurt in the making of these photos! What the first photo doesnât show is a giant gymnastics mat, and this yearâs photo allows Jorja to show off her gymnastic skills, while staying completely safe. We will let Dana keep her photography secrets to herself.
