DAYSLAND ATB DESTROYED

Brazen night robbery in Daysland produces two suspects Town and ATB Financial left to deal with aftermath of destruction Leslie Cholowsky Editor

On Wednesday, Aug. 31, Killam RCMP got a call at 4:13 a.m. of a break and enter to the Daysland ATB Financial. When police arrived, the suspects were gone, and police found a building in tatters. Survelliance has since revealed that that suspects had used a stolen ‘Zoom Boom’ to damage and remove part of the building’s front entrance to gain access to the ATM within. A ‘zoom boom’ is essentially a piece of machinery that is similar to a forklift, but

with a boom that can extend forward and upward, similar to a crane. RCMP reports that early in the investigation, the Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit identified the individuals who they believed were involved in the crime. As the investigation evolved, the RCMP helicopter was called in and two suspects were arrested near Bashaw. RCMP reports that parts of the ATM, significant amounts of currency, vehicles, and other stolen items have been recovered. Police have charged two men with Break and Enter, multiple counts of

Mischief over $5,000, as well as multiple counts of Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Nicholas Avin Klink, (29) from Lacombe County, was charged with: Break and Enter to commit; Mischief over $5,000-four counts; Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000four counts; Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; Fraudulent Concealment; Possess break and enter tools; Fail to comply with release conditions-three counts; Obstruction; Careless use of ammunition; Possession of a controlled substance; and Dangerous Driving.

Klink has been remanded in custody bail not spoken to with his next court appearance set for Sept 2. in Red Deer. RCMP charged Tyler Jackson Patten (32), also a resident of Lacombe County, with: Break and Enter to commit; Mischief over $5,000-two counts; Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000-five counts; Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, fraudulent concealment, and possession of break and enter tools. Patten was also remanded in custody bail not spoken to; his next court appearance is set for Sept. 6 in Killam. See ROBBERY P17
