HEAVY LOADS

The fourth massive load to be moved to the Dow Path2Zero site in the last few weeks moved along Highway 15 from Tofield to Fort Saskatchewan March 13. The massive quench water tower was 10.1 metres wide, 12.2 metres high and 97.8 metres in length. This 986,958 kg load was moved on 480 wheels. The heavy loads usually take a couple of days to leave south Edmonton, if coming from Dacro’s south Edmonton location, and travel along Highway 14 to Tofield where they travel north on Highway 834. They turn back east at Highway 15 east of Lamont and then travel to the Dow Path2Zero site just east of Fort Saskatchewan. This photo was taken just as the large load reached the multi-lane section of Highway 15 by the Scotford CN rail yard. John Mather photo.
