FOOD SECURITY Food security is a basic aspect of any community. The health and lives of its members depend on it. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), food security is achieved when all people, at all times, have physical, social and economic access to sufficient safe and nutritious food that satisfies people’s daily energy needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life. Small-scale fishing–as we know in our US Caribbean zone–contributes to the food security of our region. Our fishers provide an additional source of protein throughout the year. In turn, fish and
