Dear Dr. Angeli and Dr. López, In preparation for the CFMC August 2026 meeting, Dr. García-Moliner examined the next steps to respond to the E.O. 14276 mandate. We concluded that at this coming meeting, we need input from local governments, as per discussions at the 187th meeting We have attached the updated work plan (item 1) for the EO14276 CFMC priority actions, as discussed at the 189th CFMC Regular Meeting. The list of CFMC priorities did not add any new actions to the list of priorities previously submitted to NMFS on September 23, 2025. However, we have consolidated several existing actions, included specific projects within those actions where applicable, and re-ranked the priorities; and the NMFS' response to the CFMC addressing EO 14276 (item 2). (In previous CFMC meetings (e.g., the 188th; December 2025), the discussion included a request that the States address these priorities. Among the issues for discussion are the revision and compatibility of regulations.) The draft agenda for the 190th meeting (attached- item 3) includes discussion on NOAA Fisheries Response to CFMC on EO 14276. Please let us know if you will have a presentation on the PR-DNER and USVIDPNR responses to Mr. Piñero’s letter. The discussion is scheduled for August 11, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., during which time Mr. Piñero will attend the meeting for any questions that may arise.
