Essex Valley Agricultural Development
This project will enhance production and productivity, and improve market access for farmers in Essex Valley. Approximately 700 hectares of arable lands will be outfitted with a modern irrigation system powered by renewable energy (photovoltaic system). An estimated 700 farmers targeted under the project will also benefit from investments in climate resilient road and drainage systems, internationally certified post-harvest handling and packhouse facilities and systems, and capacity building in climate smart agriculture.

This project has been made possible through a grant from the United Kingdom Government under the UK Caribbean Infrastructure Fund (UKCIF), which provides grant funding for climate-resilient infrastructure projects to encourage growth and to support improved livelihoods, poverty reduction and safer conditions for residents. UKCIF is administered by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).
