The Confederate monument is a historic statue that was located at the Southwest corner of the Daviess County Courthouse, in Owensboro, Ky. The monument was placed in September 1900, by John C. Breckinridge Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy after several years of fund raising. Over 5,000 came to witness the dedication. There were African Americans on both sides of the Civil War April 12, 1861. The statue was there for over 120 years. It was removed because of hatred and racism. This is for the soldiers that died in the Civil War and will always be a part of our History, no one can change that. Confederate Flags are Honorable and Legitimate. Most people don’t understand what the Confederate Flag stands for, the feelings of pain and rejection from Slaves and Slavery was abolished by the Civil War. Understand that the Flags of the Confederacy were legitimate banners of a Nation and the struggle to preserve individual liberty.
