Herry j oiried the Caraj ás St. Paul's School Troop in the mid Íìfties and in due course becan-re Kingfisher Patrol Leader. From the Scout Troop he went up into the rover Crew where he
was a very active parricipant for a number of years, including giving a hand in Scout Troop meet-
ings and camps. In the late seventies he retumed to active Scouting when his three sons, Richard,
Nicholas and Bemard. joined the Carajás. Herry not only participanted in the Carajás Leadership r.vhere. Íbr several 1'ears he was Group Leader, but also worked as a volunteer for the "Região de São Paulo" in
a
number of capacities, including the editing ofthe Scout magazine

the 60th anniversary
60 Years of Carajás Spirit Yes, it is a long time. But the other day, whilst calling old timers of all ages on the phone, inviting them to our Dinner of the 24th inst., it was like

rnake an1, difference at all. As soon as the Carajás Scout Group was rnentioned, it was as if I could see a
smiling face on the other end of the line, such was the warm, spontaneous joy,

Which to me. as a (young) old tirner, carne forward as, possibly, te rnost valuable contribution of all what tha Carajás has given to those who participated in its activities: a deep rooted, hearry feeling of belonging, of being "part of the famil1,". of sharine the same lively Spirit. And which everyone of us is found of -_^^
