My Portfolio

Pencil drawing of my friend on a pool table
• I stared out my mapping out where everything was so I could get my proportions right, then I sketched everything out and added shading and a bit of detail
• I learned from this drawing how to do a fast sketch without getting too caught up on the details

Pencil sketch of a jazz bar
• I stared by sketching out where everything was and then added all my shadows
• From this drawing I learned that when you draw in only the shadows the rest will come together naturally
• I also learned how to make the drawing look like it’s details when it’s not really

Pen sketch of my friend
• I started out by drawing everything in pencil first but then decided to use pen since I’d never done that before because it felt more risky, then I added coloured pen to see what effect it would make
• From this drawing I learned not to take art too seriously and played about with a few pens to see what would happen. I actually ended up liking the finished result and I wouldn’t have known that if I didn’t experiment

Still life of my room
• I chose which objects I was going to focus on then I sketched them out and added shading
• In this drawing I learned how to use different gradients when shading with pencils

Watercolour painting of a kitchen
• I stared by mapping out where each wall was and the ceiling so I could get proportions and the perspective right, then I sketched it out and painted it going from light to dark
• From this painting I learned how to paint with detail and how different colours compliment eachother
