The intensive search for the body of 15-year-old Ja’Derrius Minnieweather in the East Baton Rouge Parish Landfill has become “extremely difficult” for local law enforcement due to rising heat, District Attorney Hillar Moore said Monday. The search, which involves teams of 30 officers at a time working through truckloads of waste in tiny increments, has entered its third week at the parish’s North Landfill. On top of that, the heat has risen significantly since the search’s first week. Local law enforcement agents involved are only able to work in 45-minute shifts before being required to rest for an hour and 45 minutes, Moore said. During each of these breaks, workers have their temperature and blood pressure checked before being sent back to the search. “It’s extremely slow, excruciating work,” Moore said, “but every man and woman gets to see a picture (of Minnieweather) every day.” City leaders, including Baton Rouge Police Chief Thomas Morse and Mayor-President Sid Edwards, have previously said the photos of the teen are meant to keep workers
