New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson, fresh off winning the NBA championship, will be honored in the city where he graduated high school. Robinson, who played at Chalmette High School, will be honored by St. Bernard Parish on Thursday. Parish officials announced on the St. Bernard Parish Facebook page on June 16 that a parade will be held in Robinson’s honor when he returns home, a week after New York City held a parade to
celebrate the Knicks’ victory. “Mitchell Robinson’s journey from Chalmette High School to NBA Champion has made our entire community proud. We invite residents, friends, and fans to come out and help us celebrate this incredible accomplishment,” St. Bernard Parish said in its post. Robinson was a man of few words eight years ago at the Sigur Civic Center in Chalmette the night he was drafted to the Knicks at the age of 20 i the second round of the NBA draft. The 7-foot Robinson may be tall, but his answers were short, just
like they always had been whenever he got interviewed after one of his stellar performances playing for Chalmette High. When asked on draft night what he would bring to the Knicks, his answer was simple. “Hopefully a ring,” he replied. Now after earning that ring, a parade will be held in Chalmette beginning at 6:30 p.m. It will start at the former Big Lots at Chalmette Mall and end at Chalmette High School. The parade will travel eastbound along Judge Perez Drive for

From itch to infection
Why hot spots are one of summer’s most common canine problems One day, a dog looks perfectly fine. The next day, a red, angry-looking patch of skin appears, seemingly overnight. Welcome to the world of hot spots. Also known as acute moist dermatitis, hot spots are among the most common skin issues veterinarians see in dogs, especially during Traci our long, hot and very humid Howerton summers. These painful, ANIMAL inflamed lesions can develop RESCUE surprisingly quickly. However, hot spots rarely come out of nowhere. There is usually an underlying cause that triggers scratching, licking or chewing, which eventually damages the skin.

What exactly is a hot spot? A hot spot develops when a dog repeatedly irritates a specific area of skin. Constant licking, scratching or chewing causes inflammation and breaks down the skin’s protective barrier, allowing bacteria to enter and cause infection. The result is a moist, red, irritated lesion that can quickly grow larger if left untreated. Hot spots are usually found around the neck, face, ears, legs or at the base of the tail, but they can appear almost anywhere on the body. My dog Romeo is allergy-prone, and every now and then, he reminds me how quickly a hot spot can develop. What starts as a little extra scratching one day can become a full-blown skin issue before the week is over.
