The real “star” of the 2026 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on Saturday? The sun. After being MIA during two days of rain, the sun returned in all its glory Saturday with the added bonus of low humidity and a steady breeze. The Eagles also returned to the Fair Grounds on Saturday. The result? The first daytime sellout in Jazz Fest history, other than 2024’s special, limited-admission Rolling MORE @ Stones Thursday. JAZZ FEST Just before 3 p.m. Saturday, the festival posted on social media, “Today’s Jazz INSIDE Fest is sold out. At this ä Sunday’s time, tickets are still availcubes. No day will ever match the 160,000 that turned out in 2001 for the Dave Matthews Band and New Orleans rapper Mystikal, then at the peak of his popularity. That was an anomaly.

On Thursday, saying he would not allow Louisiana to vote on an illegal map, Landry declared an emergency that canceled the May 16 primary for the six U.S. House elections. A key person in what happens next is state Sen. Caleb Kleinpeter, R-Port Allen. He is both

North La. rattled by rash of earthquakes EPA tells state to monitor effects of oil, gas operations BY SAM KARLIN and DAVID MITCHELL Staff writers
Federal regulators are asking Louisiana to step up oversight of oil and gas operations after a rash of earthquakes in the northern half of the state, including one tremor that matched the largest in state history. In a letter last month, the Environmental Protection Agency told state regulators to more closely watch how oil and gas companies inject brine into the ground. Both regulators
