Culture connection Chic French bookstore, gallery opens in the French Quarter
BY JENNA ROSS Staff writer
A new sign hangs in the French Quarter — one side in English, the other in French. “Nous!” it says, in part, “en collaboration avec the Historic New Orleans Collection.” Since its start, the New Orleans Foundation for Francophone Cultures has been bringing French back to the French Quarter. This month, the couple behind the nonprofit, known as Nous, celebrated a newly renovated space in that historic district. With a Champagne toast, of course. The chic new headquarters on Toulouse Street features a bookstore — one of only three French lanPROVIDED PHOTO guage bookstores in the United Inside the new Nous States and the only bookstore and community one west of Washspace. ington, D.C. On the shelves are French classics, books by Louisiana authors and art exhibition catalogues from Paris and Quebec. (Tariffs complicated the acquisition of said books, some arriving just hours before the Dec. 18 event.)

YEAR’S EVE
The Louisiana Children’s Museum offers an annual kinder,
gentler New Year’s Eve celebration suitable for kids and
families with morning crafts, music, face painting, dancing, games and more culminating in a countdown to noon and explosion of colorful confetti bubbles.

Found a lost pet?
8 steps for helping reunite it with its owners As the New Year begins, social media feeds are filled with the familiar surge of lost pet posts as families search for pets who got lost during the chaos of the holidays. Others, however, are posting about pets that they have found — hoping to find the owners. This is actually a year-round problem. Traci While I was home over the past Howerton two weeks for the holidays, three ANIMAL different dogs wandered into my RESCUE yard. Three. Luckily, all were friendly and wearing tags. Thanks to proper identification, each one was reunited
