Two applicants, an attorney and an investment adviser with two master’s degrees who sits on the board of Temple Shalom, aren’t sufficient options for the Lafayette Parish Council to make an appointment to the Lafayette Public Library board. On Tuesday, the council voted 3-2 to readvertise for volunteers to fill a vacancy on the board because they said two were not enough to choose from. In recent years, the council has received more than two applicants for seats on the board, which has taken on issues such as banning books and videos and forbidding book displays for special populations like Pride Month and Black History Month.
