East Feliciana downs Albany Makyle Cannon rushed for 105 yards on 10 carries and one touchdown and also caught a touchdown pass to lead East Feliciana to a 47-26 victory over Albany on Friday. East Feliciana’s quarterbacks combined to throw for three touchdowns and 295 yards, completing 10 of 19 attempts. “We played well in the first half,” East Feliciana coach Darius Matthews said. “We had too many mental mistakes and penalties in the second half.” The Tigers are 2-1 as they prepare to open District 8-2A play Thursday hosting Episcopal. “We have to be sound on offense and defense and not have turnovers,” Matthews said. “We have to be able to score and eliminate mistakes.”
Slaughter remains unbeaten Slaughter pitched its third consecutive shutout to start the season in a 52-0 blanking of LaGrange on Thursday night. Slaughter has won its first three games, all non-district, by a combined 157-0. Slaughter’s starters have not played past the middle of the third quarter in any of the Knights’ first three games. Quarterbacks Carson Baxter and Ty Ford each threw for one touchdown and Baxter also added a score with his legs. Running back NaDorian Johnson scored on a rushing touchdown for the Knights, who host Capitol on Friday in the District 8-2A opener as well as homecoming game. “Our defense played great, forcing five turnovers, only allowing 54 yards,” coach Patrick Clarkston said. “Our offense continued to show how explosive and effective they can be.” Safety Thomas Carter returned an interception 63 yards for one touchdown and also caught a 29-yar scoring pass. Audubon library facilities and services continue to grow
BY MELINDA RAWLS HOWELL Contributing writer
There’s lots happening — new and ongoing — in the Audubon Regional Library system as it continues to serve East Feliciana and St. Helena parishes.
Clinton branch construction Construction at the Clinton branch is moving along, said Trevor Collings, director for the Audubon Regional Library. The evidence can be seen outside as it is evolving. Foundation pads, some sidewalks, a driveway and some of the parking lot are done with new work completed almost daily. Workers said they are being careful to leave paths of access into the library as they complete each step in the construction project. The foundation pads are for the covered areas and will include seating, Collings said. When completed, the additions/improvements in Clinton will include playground equipment, benches, sidewalks, an area suitable for group activities and a grassy play area along with the new and improved parking lot.
Outreach coordinator hired Collings also announced the system has now hired Terry Taylor as outreach coordinator. Taylor will be planning more events beginning this fall and working with other public and private organizations and Taylor institutions including the Head Start programs and the Councils on Aging in the parishes to better serve residents, Collings said.
Hotspots available Another new service/feature being provided by the library, Collings said, is that
