On April 16, the city of Zachary broke ground on a new 310-foot self-supporting communications tower for first responders. Located near Pride Port Hudson and La. 19, the North Communications Tower will enhance communication capabilities among police, the Sheriff’s
Department, fire services and EMS teams. A news release said the nearest tower is on Gurney Lane in Central, and radio communications in the Zachary area have been unreliable and inconsistent. Having a tower in Zachary means quicker, clearer and more dependable
