Amite art workshop, exhibition The Amite Arts Council is sponsoring an adult art workshop Saturday, April 12. Registration is underway at Amite City Hall. There is a $10 registration fee. The Workshop will be held in the Amite Community Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. There will be a display of the students’ work at 1 p.m. on Friday. Admission to the display of the students’ work is free. Participants will explore creating still-life using the grid method as well as a review of oil pastel blending techniques. Depending on which poll you look at, the Live Oak baseball team was ranked as high as 12th last week. To be clear, that’s not the LHSAA power rankings or a Louisiana sports writers poll. The Livingston Parish Master Gardeners Plant Sale Saturday featured nursery plants, gardening-related items, gardening information and presentations at the Southeastern Livingston Center in Walker. Visitors shopped for cut flowers, bedding plants, vegetable plants, shrubs, house plants, herbs, native plants, as well as host plants for butterflies, hummingbirds and pollinators.

Vendors sold goat milk soap and lotions, books, jellies, scented candles, birdhouses, garden signs, raised planters, garden worms, leaf filters for gutters, and more. Master Gardeners held demonstrations on bees, growing camelias, medicinal herbs for the garden and how to attract hummingbirds. Funds from the day support the community educational activities of the members of the Livingston Parish Master Gardener program.
