About Capital City College

Educating Londoners since 1828

The college has supported London’s communities for almost two centuries, evolving alongside the city, its industries and its workforce.

From early progressive education in the nineteenth century to today’s city-wide provision, the college has continually adapted to meet the changing needs of employers and learners. This long-standing connection to London’s economy underpins our practical, skills-led approach to education.

In 2016, three established colleges came together to form a single organisation serving central and north London. In 2024, they unified under one identity as Capital City College, reflecting a shared mission and a commitment to consistent quality across campuses.

Today, the college supports more than 35,000 students each year across academic, technical and professional pathways. Our scale, reach and employer focus position us as a long-term partner for organisations investing in skills, talent and workforce development across the capital.

Our students

A diverse talent pipeline for London

Our students form one of London’s largest and most diverse talent pools, studying across academic and vocational pathways aligned to the needs of the capital’s economy.

Sixty-one per cent of students come from the three highest deprivation deciles in England, and last year more than 21,000 learners were supported from disadvantaged backgrounds.

For employers, this offers both scale and purpose: access to talent while delivering meaningful social impact across London.

Social value in practice

Social value at the college is delivered through direct investment in students, facilities and opportunity across London. As a charity, the vast majority of income generated through membership and partnership activity is reinvested into education and student support. This ensures that social value is not abstract, but visible and measurable.

Investment supports:

• Bursaries and hardship funding to remove financial barriers to learning

• Uniforms, equipment and tools that enable students to train and work safely

• Modern facilities and specialist spaces aligned to industry standards

• Digital resources and technology that reflect the modern workplace

• Employability and progression support, including careers guidance and preparation

These investments help students access training, complete their studies and progress into employment or further education. They also ensure employers engage with talent that is well prepared, well equipped and supported to succeed.

Capital Connect provides a structured route for businesses to contribute to this work. It aligns organisational priorities with tangible outcomes, delivering social value that is practical, credible and rooted in skills development.
