The NPA Colour Fun Run hosted by AFL Cape York at Yusia Ginau Oval, Bamaga was a big hit with Northern Peninsula Area residents (who likely had some tricky loads of laundry to tackle after the popular event). The Colour Fun Run with a ‘No school, no play’ theme held earlier this month included a barbecue and an AFL kickaround. See the photos on pages 8 and 9.

Weipa has been punching well above its weight when it comes to healthcare prowess, with a string of dedicated workers honoured for their inspiring undertakings. Now, Weipa Hospital GP obstetrician Dr Jemma Nokes has been selected to attend the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine’s Emerging Leaders Conference, while Weipa Integrated Health Service midwifery unit manager Brooke McCullum has been named a finalist in the Australian College of Midwives (ACM) Midwifery Awards.
