CAPE TOWN TO LOWER PROPERTY RATES FORMULA BY 10,2% FOLLOWING GV2025
The City of Cape Town has proposed a 10.2% reduction in the residential rate-in-rand following the 2025 General Valuation, aiming to cushion homeowners from rising property values and keep ownership costs among the lowest in the country. Additional relief measures include increasing the rates-free threshold and extending benefits to more households, with around 60% of residential properties expected to see either a decrease or no change in rates.
