WHO IS CAPRICORN ENTERPRISE?

Capricorn Enterprise is a not-for-profit, apolitical membership organisation proudly representing the Capricorn Coast, Rockhampton, and surrounding coastal communities from Yeppoon to the Keppel Islands.

As one of Queensland’s thirteen official Destination Management Organisations (DMOs), we hold a unique role — driving both regional tourism growth and economic development across Central Queensland.

Guided by a Board of Directors, we act as the independent voice for the business community, working closely with all levels of government, industry, and our members to attract investment, secure funding, and deliver strategic outcomes for our region.

We proudly partner with Livingstone Shire Council to deliver economic development services and collaborate with a broad network of local business groups, community organisations, and State Industry Associations to shape a prosperous future for the Region.

Destination Marketing & Visitor Services

As the official Regional Tourism Organisation we lead destination marketing campaigns, tourism trade engagement, and visitor experience development to attract domestic and international travellers, grow tourism revenue, and strengthen the regional brand.

Implementation of the Destination Tourism Plan 2024- 2032 includes strategic marketing, media partnerships, digital tools, and event support, we help our tourism operators and visitor-facing businesses increase exposure, drive bookings, and build resilience in an increasingly competitive market.

Capricorn Enterprise’s marketing goals are to:

• Build awareness of the Capricorn Coast & Rockhampton Region within our ‘Southern Great Barrier Reef’ destination brand

• Enhance visitor experiences by promoting the region’s diverse attractions

• Increase visitor yield

Domestic marketing strategies

Targeting the core target markets of Central Queensland <400km, Brisbane & South East Queensland and the interstate markets including Sydney & Northern NSW.

International marketing strategy

Key international markets offer opportunities for growth especially from New Zealand, the UK, Germany, rest of Europe & North America.

As an official Regional Tourism Organisation as recognised by the State Government, Capricorn Enterprise works closely with our Event Organisers who receive Queensland Destination Events Program funding via Tourism and Events Queensland.

We maintain an online regional Festivals and Events Calendar, write letters of support for funding applications and actively promote events within our region at every opportunity.

Accommodation Growth: Support for over 1,200 new 4.5-star+ rooms by 2032 to meet visitor demand.

Master Plans: Advocacy for public/private investment aligned to the Capricorn DTP 2024–2032 for Great Keppel Island and Rosslyn Bay Harbour.

Olympics 2032: Fitzroy River proposed as host venue for Rowing & Canoe Sprints — a gamechanging opportunity for regional visibility.

East-West Connector Road: Backing the Capricorn Coast’s TLPI 2025 and critical road infrastructure to unlock development corridors.

Capricorn Resort: Supporting redevelopment of this major tourism asset.

Major Projects Collaboration: Connecting managing contractors and local suppliers to maximise regional benefits from large-scale investment.
