Mt. Pocono council OKs PMIP system transfer, seeks Knob beautification grant by Pat Albano
Pocono Mountain Regional Police officers who rescued a woman from her burning vehicle off Route 940 were given a plaque and a challenge coin at the start of the March Kidder Township Supervisors’ meeting. The driver had crashed just over the county line in Kidder Township on February 26. PMRPD was dispatched and found the vehicle on fire. The honored officers were: (from left) CJ Dickinson (accepted by his dad, Chuck Dickinson), Scott Dunlap, Sergeant Robert Miller, presenter Lake Harmony Fire Chief Ralph Lennon, Carmine Saprona and Adam Bond, and presenter Kidder Township Police Chief Matthew Kuzma.

Mount Pocono Borough Council has revised its Act 537 (Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act) plan. Ownership, operation and maintenance responsibility of the Pocono Mountains Industrial Park sewage collection located in Coolbaugh Township has been transferred to the Mount Pocono Municipal Authority. The cost of the transfer is $1. Council discussed a lease agreement of $1,200 per month for three years between Mount Pocono Municipal Authority and the Borough. Board member Ann Marie Harris questioned the $1,200 figure and the Board agreed to table this motion for further consideration. Borough Manager Marissa
Duffy discussed submission of a 2024-25 Pocono Forests and Waters Conservation Landscape [PFWCL] Mini Grant. The purpose of PFWCL is to conserve natural landscape areas. Duffy added, “Landscaping upgrades will beautify the entrance to Knob Overlook, creating an inviting and visually stunning environment for visitors to enjoy. Knob Overlook is a gem of our community, offering breathtaking views of the Pocono Mountains. This is the thirteenth year of the grant which is highly competitive. We are asking for $10,000 which includes six park benches and a flagpole and there is no out of pocket expense.” Council also authorized a paving bid advertisement in conjunction with Paradise See MT.
