Cops arrest WV teen after stabbing Boy, 15, alleged to have stabbed 16-year-old

A West Vancouver secondary student has been arrested after reportedly stabbing another student multiple times Friday morning.
The 15-year-old, who has not been identified, allegedly attacked the 16-year-old victim near the western edge of the school campus just before noon, striking him three times in the back and once in the chest, puncturing a lung. Police, firefighters and B.C. Ambulance Service paramedics reached the site a few minutes later to find the wounded student bleeding but conscious. He was treated on site before being rushed to Lions Gate Hospital, where he remains in stable condition. The suspected assailant was arrested at the scene, and police say they have recovered a weapon. It’s not clear yet whether the suspect knew the victim, nor what provoked the alleged attack. Several other teens reportedly witnessed the event, and are currently being interviewed by investigators. It does not appear any adults were present. That area of campus, a popular gathering place for students, is largely screened from view by trees and bushes. Very few homes overlook the adjacent stretch of Sinclair Court, suggesting it is unlikely any member of the public witnessed the incident. MP Weston’s expenses make top 3 in B.C. Jane Seyd
jseyd@nsnews.com
WEST Vancouver MP John Weston logged the third-highest expenses among B.C. MPs last year with the spending of $604,000, government documents reveal. Weston’s expenses came in just below those of top provincial spenders including Nathan Cullen, NDP MP
for Skeena-Bulkley Valley — who racked up expenses of $637,000 — and Jay Hill, Conservative MP for Prince George-Peace River, who spent $618,000. Weston’s spending was largely pushed into the top three by the $87,000 he spent last year on one-page leaflets known as 10-percenters. That was the highest amount spent by any B.C. MP on the leaflets, which are controversial both because of their often highly partisan flavour and the fact MPs were formerly allowed to send up to 10 per cent of the flyers into other constituencies.

Weston also spent a further $30,000 on “householders,” quarterly reports that MPs are allowed to send to constituents. On Friday, Weston defended his expenses, saying “well over 90 per cent” of his 10-percenters were mailed to constituents inside his riding, which with 130,000 people has the largest population of any riding in the province. “It’s one of the many ways to stay in touch with See Flyers page 11
