Private partner sought Province issues call for proposals to help finance long-awaited Evergreen Line Janaya Fuller-Evans staff reporter
The provincial government has issued a request for qualifications from possible private partners to help finance the Evergreen Line. The announcement came just one week after Burnaby council decided to press the provincial government to secure funding for the project. The lack of private partner commitments as of yet was one of the issues mentioned in a staff report presented to council. The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is looking for three private partners capable of designing, building and financing the rapid transit project, running from Lougheed Town Centre to Coquitlam Town Centre. “I’m excited about it,” Liberal MLA Harry Bloy said. “We were always committed to building the line.” The request for qualifications closes on Sept. 7. Up to three respondents will be selected to compete in the request for proposal stage. Construction is scheduled

A former church that became a Sikh temple is now a new Hindu temple. a parking problem there so the community wanted us to relocate somewhere more convenient for worshippers,” explained worshipper Vidya Sharma. ‘“It took us five or six years to find this place and convert it into a temple.” A special parade took place before the temple’s grand opening on Saturday. The well-attended opening also included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, flag-raising, live entertainment and a vegetarian lunch.
