Accused of shooting son with crossbow

P

olice have recommended a charge of attempted murder after a 62-year-old Mission father allegedly shot his son through the arm with a crossbow Saturday afternoon. RCMP attended a residence in the 13200 block Degraff Road in Mission at about 2 p.m. after a neighbour called police to report a 36-year-old male had apparently been shot with an arrow following an altercation. Police arrested the suspect without incident and seized a crossbow and ammunition, along with a number of registered firearms, said RCMP Const. Gary Douglas. The neighbour drove the victim and his mother to the hospital where he was treated for a penetrating injury to his forearm and later released. According to reports, the father has a history of mental illness. – RAFE ARNOTT WITH FILES FROM THE VANCOUVER SUN
