SCHOOL
CANNON SCHOOL is proud to offer Beyond the Bell (BTB) after-school enrichment programs for students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8, as well as private music lessons for students in Kindergarten through Grade 8.
Q: When and how can I sign up for Beyond the Bell classes?
A: All registrations should be completed through Veracross Family Portal online. Class fees are due at the time of registration.
Q: What if I want to cancel or change a class after the session begins?
A: You may cancel within the first week of the session. After a student attends the second class, billing cannot be canceled and full payment is required. If you cancel after the first week, you will only be billed for the one class attended at the per-class rate.

Q: How do I pay?
A: Payment is required at registration. You may pay online by credit card, or submit cash, check, or submit money order to the office.
Q: How many students are accepted in each Beyond the Bell class?
A: Each class has its own minimum and maximum enrollment. Classes that do not reach the minimum will be canceled. Classes will close once they have reached capacity, so early registration is highly recommended.
Q: What if a class is canceled?
A: If a class is canceled, we will do our best to make it up during a designated make-up week at the end of the 10-week session. Families will receive communication with details about the rescheduled class.
Private music lessons are available for students Kindergarten through Grade 8. Spaces are limited, so early sign-up is encouraged.

Students will develop dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive skills while applying basic offensive and defensive strategies in game situations. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, communication, sportsmanship, and decision-making in a fast-paced, inclusive environment. Modified rules and court sizes are used to ensure maximum participation, skill development, and enjoyment for all students. Students will also learn game rules, scoring, and the importance of respect for teammates and opponents. Grow your love for the game!

Our Cheer Program, led by the Cannon Varsity Cheer coaches, gives younger students the opportunity to learn and develop foundational cheerleading skills in a fun, supportive environment. Each week focuses on a different skill area, including tumbling and jumps, stunting, cheer, and dance, allowing participants to explore all aspects of cheer while building confidence and teamwork. Get ready for a session full of spirit, technique and high powered fun!

Students will explore real-world challenges through the engineering design process—ask, imagine, plan, create, and improve. Using LEGO®-based builds and hands-on materials, students develop problem-solving skills, spatial reasoning, and teamwork while thinking like real engineers. Through testing and redesign, students will learn that creativity, persistence, and innovation are key to successful engineering solutions.

Come explore, create, and try something new at our Craft Sampler! Students will rotate through 4–5 different crafts, learn fun new skills, and discover new ways to express their creativity. If you love making things with your hands, this class is for you!

Experience the fun and excitement of competing on a First Lego League Robotics Team. You’ll design, build, and code LEGO robots to tackle exciting thought provoking missions while exploring real-world problems. Participants will showcase their work in an end of season mock competition. Get your student ready for a week of hands on learning, quick adaptable thinking, teamwork and non-stop engineering fun!

In Puppet Playhouse, Jr.K-2nd grade students will design and create a new type of puppet each week, from sock puppets to shadow puppets, and even puppets made from nature. Once the puppets are complete, kids will bring their creations to life with mini skits, and imaginative play. This class is perfect for little creators who love crafting and making their ideas come to life. Join us for a fun-filled weekly adventure in creativity.

This is a fun, educational, and delicious class where the students will make their own desserts from scratch. They will learn to measure and mix ingredients on their own by following a recipe to make delicious desserts. We will make different kinds of desserts such as chocolate chip cookies, dirt worm cupcakes, snickerdoodle cookies and hand pies. The kids will have a blast making desserts, eating them, and bringing some home after the session as well!

3rd - 8th
Students will learn different art techniques with a variety of tools while creating beautiful projects. Each week will consist of a different project that your student will take home after every session. Each project is created with raw materials including wood, canvas, yarn, wax, oils, paints, etc. Students will have fun, create memories and meet new friends.

K - 2nd
Fun and high energy, this session will teach rhythm, musicality, coordination and appropriate choreography to some of the most popular songs. Each session, kids will be exploring the wonderful world of dance in a safe, judgement-free environment while building confidence. In continuation of the previous week, dancers will learn terminology, take home worksheets and a performance will be held on the last day for family.

JrK-4th Tuesday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $22/class; $220 total
Nature games will provide students with an opportunity to explore the beautiful woods surrounding our campus. Students will have fun exploring plant life, observing animals, discovering insect habitats, and more! We will learn how to use the natural habitat of the woods to create fun and exciting games. Activities include creating crafts, building forts, catching critters in the creek, painting with sticks and leaves, going on scavenger hunts, and playing nature related cooperative and competitive games.

K - 6th Tuesday 3:00-4:00 p.m. 25/class; $250 total
Join us for afterschool soccer where your player can refine their soccer skills, make new friends, and have a blast on the field. Players will enjoy exciting drills, scrimmages and fun-filled activities that promote fitness and sportsmanship. No matter your student’s level, our Soccer Program promises skill-development in a fun, supportive and safe environment. Sign your student up and get them ready to kick off!

JrK-1st Tuesday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $25/class; $250 total
WonderLab combines the creativity of art with the curiosity of science. Each week, students will explore an art project that covers a unique science concept. From chemistry-inspired lava lamps to painting with magnets, children will discover through imagining, building, and creating. Each week’s wonder of science will begin with a read aloud followed by an aligned art project that shows the science in action. *Please note: This session will include the same activities as Wonder Lab Session 2. If your child attended Wonder Lab already this year, we do not recommend signing up again for this program during Session 3.

Le Petit Ballet Co. is a dance-education enrichment program offering convenient ballet classes. Our ballet lessons are specially created for young dancers, Jr.K through 2nd grade students and they are imaginative, engaging, and fun! Students learn basic ballet dance moves and positions and how to move their bodies in different and new ways through creative movement. The 10-week session ends in a beautiful performance for parents to see all that the students have learned!

1st - 8th Wednesday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $30/class; $300 total
Taught by Cannon’s String Orchestra Director, this beginner class will introduce to basic note reading, posture, and how to hold, play, and tune their instrument. After one trimester, students are encouraged to continue their growth with a private lesson teacher, allowing them to advance at their own pace. This class is not designed for students currently enrolled in strings during the school day. Join us for the joy of music-making! *Students will need to rent a violin, viola, or cello after the first class.

In this course, we will use fun games to cover all aspects of the golf swing as well as the rules and etiquette of the game. In our program, children will receive expert instructions on grip, set up, the swing, impact and the professional finish! Learn the short game, putting, driving and full swings! Open to all skill levels.

Unleash your inner artist in our after-school Junior Sculptors class! Get ready for your student to roll, sculpt, and glaze your way to pottery perfection. With hands-on guidance, explore their creativity while making cool clay creations. We will focus on clay monsters, animals, coil pots, and pinch pots. Join us for messy fun and bring home masterpieces to impress the whole family after this artist \ic and creative session!

5th - 8th Wednesday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $25/class; $250 total
Middle school brings new academic expectations, and with them, the need for stronger organizational and time-management skills. This session is a weekly after-school program designed to help students build the habits and strategies they need to feel confident, capable, and in control of their schoolwork. In this supportive, small-group setting, students will receive guided help with using their planners effectively, organizing backpacks, lockers, and binders, managing time and long-term assignments, and developing strong study skills for different types of assessments. Sessions are hands-on and practical, allowing students to apply strategies immediately to their own materials and assignments. Our goal is to help students reduce stress, increase independence, and develop skills that will support them both in middle school and beyond.

2nd - 4th Wednesday 3:00-4:00 p.m. $18/class; $180 total
Join Coach Donnie Hayes for his young athlete performance program and be a YAPPer! Coach Hayes has more than 20 years of experience helping to develop athletes. This program is designed for young athletes to help them begin the journey to reach their full athletic potential. The program will focus on helping develop one of the most important skills necessary for long-term athletic success. We will work on developing the athlete’s agility, footwork, body control, and laying the foundation for strength development they will need in the coming years. The sessions will include a dynamic warm-up, a variety of agility drills, body weight, and plyometric exercises.

Have you ever wanted to explore history in fun, creative, and hands-on ways? Then this session is for you! Through art, building projects, interactive activities, and creative problem-solving, students will step into the past and bring history to life. We will create things like stained-glass inspired art, illuminated manuscripts, and castle designs while also solving historical mysteries along the way. If your student loves learning by doing, imagining, and creating, they will love this class!

Photographs are a great way to capture moments and memories in our lives. We all know how to click a button to take a picture, but what are the strategies for taking a great photograph? Students will learn about photography composition techniques as well as how to use light and focus. We will have some fun with optical illusions and themed photography competitions. Let’s capture some magic together! Please Note: iPads are provided for this class, or students may bring their own camera or device.

Make It Melt! Perler Bead Creations is a hands-on design class where students get to design it, bead it and melt it! Using colorful Perler beads, students will choose from a variety of patterns or create their own original designs. From planning and decorating to the exciting final melt, this class builds creativity, focus, and patience. Projects will take the students time, care, and imagination, making each finished piece a unique creation that they will be proud to take home. Come join us for this interactive and creative session!

Masterpiece Makers is a creative art club where students explore their imagination through watercolor, painting, and hands-on craft projects inspired by the colors and themes of spring and summer. Each week, students will experiment with a variety of materials and techniques while creating bright, joyful artwork to take home. By the end of the session, students will have built both artistic skills and a collection of beautiful seasonal masterpieces.

Kidokinetics is a dynamic enrichment program that introduces children to a wide variety of sports and fitness activities in a fun, non-competitive environment. Designed to boost physical health, confidence, and coordination, each session engages kids with age-appropriate games that promote teamwork, motor skill development, and a lifelong love of movement. Our mission is simple: to get kids moving and make fitness fun. Whether it’s basketball, jai alai, obstacle courses, or parachute play, Kidokinetics turns exercise into an exciting opportunity to help children grow, develop, and gain confidence through play.

Our Cheer Program, led by the Cannon Varsity Cheer coaches, is designed for older students who may be interested in joining the Cannon Cheer Program. Participants will receive focused instruction in technique, form, and performance quality across skill areas, including tumbling and jumps, stunting, cheer fundamentals, and dance. Each week will spotlight a specific skill set, helping athletes build a strong foundation and grow in confidence.

Our chess class curriculum covers a wide age range and meets skill levels from beginner to advanced and is taught by a U.S. Chess Federation rated and certified coach. Analytical thinking skills and problem-solving techniques are emphasized as a tool for learning. Students will be assigned based on their experience/skill.

Come join Chef Craig in the kitchen where we will create a variety of delicious foods from scratch. Students will be using real kitchen equipment such as pots, pans, burners and knives to make foods that they will get to eat at the end of class or bring home. We will make an array of foods, including but not limited to pastas, stir frys and tacos. The kids will have a great experience and learn some valuable life skills learning how to cook.

Crazy Running offers fun running, track and field and conditioning programs for athletes of all ages! Crazy Running is where fun and energy are the core of our activities! Our Crazy Running curriculum emphasizes movement and engagement for a full 60 minutes. We aim to capture the vibrant spirit of our young athletes, shaking off the ordinary and embracing the extraordinary. Our workouts focus on having fun rather than being “crazy tough” or “crazy fast”. Come join us to play, run, and have a lot of fun!

Kids become both musicians and inventors as they explore the science and art of sound. Each week, students will build real, working instruments like shakers, tambourines, xylophones, pan flutes, and kazoos, using everyday materials. Then they’ll bring them to life by learning rhythms, composing simple songs, and performing with classmates. This program blends music, science, and creativity to build foundational skills in sound and performance.

IMPORTANT REMINDER FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS:
Any changes to your child’s dismissal must be submitted through the Attendance/Dismissal Change Request form in Veracross by 1:00 p.m. on the day of the change. This process ensures both accurate records as well as a safe dismissal process for all students.
