ress up as your favorite SUPERHERO, bring your friends and family, and join us for a morning filled with activities for SUPERHEROES of all sizes and ages. Walk or run the 5K course, play and sample your way through the community fair, and cheer on the little ones as they navigate the Kids Obstacle Course!
Candlelighters Families attend the SUPERHERO 5K for FREE. Register at www.superhero5kportland.org. When registering, Select YES on Are you a Candlelighters Family? This will allow you to register and purchase t-shirts for your family at no-cost.

Candlelighters For Children With Cancer publishes Candlelighters FAMILY Connections six times a year to provide news and other information to families affected by cancer in Oregon and SW Washington.
Candlelighters is proud to offer free services to families experiencing childhood cancer. Per our policy: Families, including all immediate family members are eligible to attend Candlelighters activities until the affected child is age 21.
ALL OREGON & SW WASHINGTON Welcome Bree Thompson Hello families and friends of Candlelighters, My name is Bree Thompson and I am your new Program Manager! Many of you may remember me from my time at Children’s Cancer Association as a Chemo Pal Mentor Program Specialist. It is an honor and a privilege to be welcomed back into the pediatric oncology/ hematology community and I look forward to getting to know each of you. My heart and passion for this work developed from a very young age, as I was once a family served by Candlelighters. I feel very connected to the mission and the experiences many families have during treatment and after.
What inspires me most about Candlelighters is our focus on the whole family and fostering connections within the cancer community. I am who I am today, because of the love and support of organizations like Candlelighters. I am so excited to be here and can’t wait to start meeting you and other families at the SUPERHERO 5K, upcoming family activities, in-hospital dinners and lunches, and Family Camp! Celebration of Remembrance We will be hosting our Celebration of Remembrance, formerly called Picnic in the Park, this July, to honor the kids and teens who have passed from cancer. Family guest speaker, Wendy Thompson, will share her experience after the death of a child and the resiliency her family calls upon throughout their continued grief.
Join us for thoughtful activities, lunch and a butterfly release to end our afternoon. A formal invitation will be sent prior to the event. To ensure you receive an invitation, please email Bree Thompson, bree@ candlelightersoregon.org with updated contact information. We hope to see you there.

Candlelighters Teen Program Our innovative Teen Program provides teens who have experienced a cancer diagnosis and their teen siblings a space
to develop social connections, decrease isolation and increase self-confidence and leadership skills. Each month we sponsor community events focused on community building and service learning.

This is our pre-summer get together before we all get busy with summer activities. Candlelighters will provide burgers, hot dogs and drinks and families will bring their favorite side dish to share. Corvette’s from all over descend upon Grants Pass every two years for the Corvette Show held right along the Rogue River at Riverside Park. 2019’s Show is going to be the biggest yet...160 Corvettes! Since Southern Oregon Corvette Association sponsors our Southern Oregon Candlelighters families...we are the guests of honor at this bi-annual event.
Saturday, all families are invited to come down to the park to vote on their favorite Corvette...they’d like all the votes for favorite Corvette by 10 a.m...then please join us for lunch (on Candlelighters)
