FAMILY Connections Candlelighters Family Camp
Join us for our signature Candlelighters Family Camp on Saturday August 31st – Monday Sept. 2nd in Eugene, OR at Camp Harlow over Labor Day Weekend.
T
he weekend will be full of fun activities including swimming, gokarts, bumper boats, mini golf, zip lining, horseback riding, campfires, games, and more. Camp is free for all immediate family members and includes lodging and meals! Don’t miss out on this action-packed weekend of fun!
Camp is open to any family residing in Oregon and SW Washington. Preference given to new families or families who have attended camp less than 3 years. If you are a returning family and have attended camp more than 3 years, please contact Kristin if you wish to be considered for a Host Family position.

In order to attend camp, the family must:
• Fill out ALL forms completely (liability, media, behavior conduct, health insurance) and on time. • Abide by rules and behavior conduct code at all times while at camp • Not have a contagious illness
SPECIAL IMPORTANT INFO: If you register for Camp and are a NO SHOW or cancel within 3 days from the start of Camp, you will not be eligible to attend camp in following years. Special circumstances do not apply. Candlelighters is proud to offer free services to families experiencing childhood cancer. Per our policy: Families, including all immediate family members are eligible to attend Candlelighters activities until the affected child is age 21.

Surviving Cancer Competently:
A 3-session series for parents and caregivers on developing positive coping skills during a cancer diagnosis.
6:30 - 8:30pm Randall Children’s Hospital Third Floor Conference Room
The Surviving Cancer Competently Program (SCCIP) was designed by a team of professionals at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to help parents/caregivers see how cancer is affecting their family and help reduce post-traumatic stress that families can experience when dealing with cancer. During this workshop we will help you understand your beliefs around cancer, discuss ways to think about them differently and help you use your strengths to cope. This workshop series is in partnership with Randall Children’s Hopsital Pediatric Psychologist, Dr. Marianne Kabour and is available to parents and caregivers who currently have a child in treatment or are within a few years post-treatment. Space is limited to 6 families and childcare is provided.

Candlelighters is teaming up once more with Kids Day to offer our Candlelighters families a fun day of fishing, face painting and an outdoor BBQ. Kickstart your summer with this fun outdoor activity graciously hosted by our friends at Kids Day and the Oregon Fishing Club! This event will be held rain or shine, so bring a raincoat! Event will be held rain or shine! This event is for immediate family only. Driving and parking instructions will be included when you RSVP.

Candlelighters for Children with Cancer is interested in expanding our bereavement programs and you are invited to participate in one of our upcoming focus group meetings if you are grieving the death of a child in your family after a battle with cancer. Our focus groups will each consist of 6-8 people and two facilitators having a conversation about what types of programs and services would be most beneficial to bereaved families in our community and to what extent community members would like to be involved in program development moving forward. Each group will last 2 hours and refreshments will be provided. Participants must be over 18. Child care can be provided. We would love to hear more about how we can work together to help support bereaved families in our community.
