STRATEGIC DIRECTION

The visuals throughout are from a stunning mobile created by the children in the CGGS Early Learning Centre for Founders’ Day 2025. The artwork represents our school value, Inclusion. Each individual strand of beads represents the unique talents and gifts of each member of the CGGS community. When woven together the strands are a collective expression of community, belonging and joy.

CANBERRA Girls Grammar SCHOOL

A 100-year legacy of creating a world where the young never stop believing anything is possible.

For a century, generations of students from across the globe have experienced an expansive, holistic education at Canberra Girls Grammar School (CGGS).

Founded in 1926 by the Anglican Community of the Sisters of the Church, trail-blazing women, whose spirit of fearless leadership, lived faith, visionary thinking, unwavering resilience and a deep passion for learning lives on.

CGGS is an award-winning, independent school, with a reputation for excellence in academic outcomes, consistently resulting in exemplary NAPLAN, BSSS and IBDP scores. The School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School and Canberra’s first and only continuum school, offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) across Kindergarten to Year 12, with a choice between the ACT BSSS and IB Diploma as the graduating credential.

From the heart of the nation’s capital and spanning three campuses, CGGS provides a world-class educational and co-curricular offering. The School is co-educational from Early Learning to Year 3, then female-focused through to Year 12. CGGS boarders live onsite at the Senior campus in our historic Boarding House, enriching and further diversifying our community.

CGGS values the whole child—all are encouraged to be involved in a range of pursuits in, and beyond the classroom. Students have many opportunities to nurture existing talents, discover new interests and develop their skills to become well-rounded, informed and contributing young people.

At CGGS, students exceed even their own expectations.

INCLUSION

Our PURPOSE

CGGS exists to graduate fiercely independent young women, confident in their purpose, courageous in their choices, ethical in their actions and capable of shaping a hope-filled future.

The CHALLENGE

Our students face an increasingly uncertain and complex world with the unrelenting, rapid pace of change in all facets of life. The evolving, contemporary context requires our young women to be adaptive, resilient and confident in their human capacity to learn, re-learn and un-learn for the future they will co-create.

Our RESPONSE. A hope-filled HORIZON

Keeping hope high for a better world is at the heart of our approaches to teaching, learning and caring. As we crest our first century, our obligations to our current community and the generations that will follow are deeply considered and deliberate.

We appreciate the importance of knowing our students and staff well to ensure all are safe, seen and supported to flourish. Our direction is purposeful, people-focused and place-based so that all are prepared and poised to ignite their possible.

The School is committed to a rigorous education that will prepare students to be the curious, skilled, determined thinkers and problem-solvers the world needs.

With the Brindabella Ranges as our backdrop, and the Anglican faith as our foundation, we move forward, towards a hope-filled horizon.
