Black History Month is an annual observance originating in the United States, where it is also known as African-American History Month. It has received official recognition from governments in the United States and Canada, and more recently has been observed in Ireland, and the United Kingdom.

Black History Month is a time to recognize the lasting impact Black individuals have had on history, culture, and society. Their contributions in areas such as civil rights, science, arts, and education have shaped the world we live in today.



1 large potato (russet is best, but any works)
A little oil (or butter)
Salt
Shredded cheese (optional)
Sour cream (optional)
Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).
Wash the potato and poke it 3–4 times with a fork.
Rub lightly with oil and sprinkle salt.
Place directly on the oven rack or on foil.
Bake for 45–60 minutes until soft inside.
Cut open, fluff with a fork, add toppings.
