LIFT SMART: ESSENTIAL TIPS TO AVOID BACK PAIN AND INJURIES It's crucial to pay attention to how we lift things, especially when moving items by hand. Improper lifting techniques can cause everything from minor to severe back pain. To avoid getting hurt, consider these simple lifting tips: Before you lift, make sure you're wearing solid shoes and gloves. Check how heavy and stable the item is. Avoid lifting items by hand if you can use equipment like cranes, dollies, or carts. If something is too heavy or awkward to lift, ask someone for help. Pay attention to how you stand and move. Here's how to lift safely: Stand with your feet apart, one slightly ahead of the other. Bend your knees and hips to squat down, not your back. Keep your shoulders back and your chest up. Lift by straightening your legs and keeping your back straight. Avoid twisting while lifting. Move your feet to turn. Keep the item between your shoulders and knees, around the level of your belly button. If you need to lower the item, bend at your knees and hips, not your back. Never lift a heavy object above your shoulders. When lifting something off a table, pull it close to your belly, making sure your muscles are tight. This helps keep you steady. Following these tips can help you stay safe and avoid injuries while lifting. WWW. C ANADACARTAGE.COM
