CANADA CARTAGE ENTERS INTO AGREEMENT TO ACQUIRE WALMART FLEET ULC Canada Cartage has signed an agreement to acquire Walmart Fleet ULC, the private fleet operation which services Walmart Canada. Walmart Fleet services more than 400 Walmart stores across Canada and employs approximately 1,100 drivers and fleet support staff. All the employees of Walmart Fleet will be offered employment with Canada Cartage as part of the transaction. Walmart Canada made this decision as part of their larger strategy of investing $6.5 billion into their growth initiatives in Canada over the next five years, including opening more stores and sites across the country. Like many of our other fleet customers, they want to focus their time and attention on these growth opportunities, rather than the distraction of managing a private fleet. After a rigorous review of potential fleet management providers, we’re thrilled that they chose Canada Cartage as their partner. The Walmart fleet will be operated as a separate business unit under the leadership of newly-hired Vice President Operations Paul Granger. Paul was the VP Operations at Canada Cartage from 2006 to 2012. Paul went on to work at Ryder, and most recently as one of our key contacts at Wabash Canada and GoRight “Smart Fleet Solutions”. The acquisition of the Walmart fleet is an exciting milestone for Canada Cartage. We look forward to welcoming their drivers and support staff to our team. The deal is subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, and we expect it to close in the coming weeks.
