IT ALL BEGINS WITH SAFETY
VEHICLE FUELING SAFETY Fueling your vehicle may seem like a routine task, but it carries serious safety risks if not done correctly. Fires, explosions, and exposure to hazardous fuel can be avoided by following a few simple precautions. Whether you’re behind the wheel of a personal car or operating a commercial fleet vehicle, taking the time to fuel safely protects both people and property. Here are some key safety tips to keep in mind every time you approach the pump. Engine Shutdown: Shut off the engine before refueling to remove ignition sources.
Grounding: Touch a metal part of the vehicle (away from the nozzle) to discharge any static electricity.
No Smoking or Open Flames: Do not smoke or use open flames near fuel pumps due to the risk of fire.
Hygiene: Avoid skin and eye contact with fuel; wash your hands thoroughly after fueling.
Cell Phone Use: Do not use cell phones at the pump to avoid the risk of static ignition.
Stay with the Vehicle: Stay with your vehicle while fueling to monitor and prevent any issues.
