The Riggins family cannot wait to be part of Malanka. George, aged four (who has danced for four years), mom Kathleen (a Ukrainian dancer for over two decades) and Eddie, now six years of age (who has been passionately involved with Ukrainian dance for over four years), helped by dad Rocky, prepare their costumes to mark the calendar year change.
In 1983, a group of local parents brainstormed ways to preserve their Ukrainian culture for their children through dance. The result became Camrose Veselka Ukrainian Dance Society. One of their most cherished annual opportunities is Malanka, the celebration which recognizes Ukraine’s New Year’s Celebration. Malanka 2026, an evening of dance, includes the appeal of a popular live band and plenty of amazing cultural food. It will take place on
