Winter has finally arrived and just in time for Christmas! Driedmeat Lake is now frozen solid, with a 12-inch sheer of ice now covering most parts of the lake. County folks are now gearing up to move their fishing shacks onto the frozen lake. Tillicum’s Dave Omoth has claimed his favourite spot on the lake, where he has been fishing for the last five years. Dave has transformed a rig shack that he hauled from northern Alberta to Tillicum Beach. Dave’s shack is equipped with a solar panel for power, entertainment, heat and two fishing holes – one for his fishing rod and another for the camera he uses to watch the fish as they approach his lures like curious dinner guests.
