An afternoon of bubbles, bouncy castles, and plenty of summer fun will all be part of Camrose County’s annual Community BBQ, happening Saturday, August 15, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Nature Conservation Centre. Families and community members are invited to come out for hot dogs, snacks and face painting while meeting County officials and local organizations. From the simple joy of a picnic to opportunities to learn something new, there will be something for everyone to do. Every year various organizations come together to help the County organize the event. This year, the barbecue has been sponsored by Wild Rose Co-op, Battle River Power Coop will be doing giveaways, and Alberta Parks conservation officers will be available to chat with visitors about the province’s parks. The Camrose & District Fish & Game Association will be on hand with a fishing demonstration, while the Battle River Watershed Alliance will get visitors involved with bug dipping at the pond. This barbecue also gives visitors a chance to vote in Camrose County’s Summer Photo Contest and help decide the winner. “It’s mainly about getting the residents to come out, learn about the County and discover this hidden gem,” said Morgan Kushnerick, one of the lead organizers. Come for the food, stay for the community and discover a little more of what Camrose County has to offer.
